Firenze in May
We had a very nice stay at Valters Place, no problem with the contact before and the checking in, although we were a little late because of our flight.
When we first arrived we felt a smell of damp, but we kept the fan going in the bathroom and after a day it felt much better. The appartment is kind of located in the basement so that´s maybe a reason to the smell.
It´s also quite cold on the floors so a pair of slippers is good to bring in the springtime.
The beds were superb, very nice with the small garden (we only wanted the weather to be warmer!)
The location is near the tram (and it´s 10 minutes ride to Maria Maggiore station) and it´s easy to buy ticket in the machine at every stop (1,5 Euros for 90 minutes of travel) don´t forget to activate the ticket in the machine inside at the tram.
We also had a very nice evening cooking with Valter, but he must have been thinking that we were 12 people and not 6, we had to leave a lot of food!
We can also recommend a wine tasting at Castello di Verrazzano, we took the local bus and had a Lovely lunch also!
We checked in, apartment is as pictured. Valter had fresh strawberries and a bottle of wine as a welcome. Grocery is easy to find as well as using the trams. Enjoyed our time in this location.

Comfortable clean apartment with luxurious bathrooms. Tram into town nearby.
Enjoyed our stay with visits to Siena & Lucca only an hour away. Only problem was only one restaurant near to the apartment, which was excellent, but would be could to have a choice.
Thank you so much
Charming, well appointed, well located near tram, nice grocery and eateries near. Fantastic place!!!
The Cook’s House is a wonderful “experience” and great place to stay. The bathrooms are elegant, gorgeous back yard. Bedrooms so nice. The artwork is lovely. The best part is the owner, Valter, who is warm and helpful. Such a nice man. We were fortunate enough to have him cook for/with us, and shared the glorious meal with him and his son. It was such a fun evening!!! I believe this is a “do not miss this” sort of hidden gem. He can help arrange daily drivers, and a person to suggest things to do. Five star experience, I would say. Great place for day trips elsewhere too. As Nike says, just do it. You won’t be sorry!
Thanks Sari, you have been fantastic guests!!! I am very pleased that you enjoyed the house and my cooking class! Thank you,see you soon
We were one of the Fiorentini
We had a wonderful stay in Florence. Breakfast in the garden. 3 min walk to the supermarket and the tram that brings you in 10min to the citycenter (railwaystation). The bathrooms were lovely especially the showers.
Thank you so much
Stay here! You’ll be glad you did!
Valter and his son were wonderful hosts and the apartment is beautiful, centrally located with all the amenities you’d need. We’d highly recommend this listing! 5 STARS!
Thank you so much
The new tram stops a three-minute walk from the apartment and, thanks to frequent trips every 4 minutes, connects quickly to the city center. Otherwise, taking the bus line 4 that stops in the same street, you will arrive directly in Piazza San Marco, just 10 minutes from the Duomo.
You can park on the street in the areas marked with blue stripes for payment from Monday to Saturday, from 8 to 20. In the areas adjacent to the historic center, the rates are € 2 for the first hour of parking and € 3 per hour for the next (the hours are divisible). It is necessary to pay in advance, depending on the estimated time of stay, to collect the ticket and display it on the dashboard of the car so that it is clearly visible. After 20 on weekdays and public holidays, these parking lots are free. We advise you to be careful and to park only inside the blue stripes, since the white ones are reserved for residents and the yellow ones for the disabled. If you want to leave your car during the night, be sure to check the day of the week and the time slots in which the street cleaning is done (under the 'no parking' sign), if you do not want the car to be removed from a tow truck.
Otherwise I suggest you park at Garage Le Rampe, just 1 km from the apartment. The price is 25 € per day (up to a maximum of 35 € for larger machines).
Opening hours: 07.00 - 22.00
Holiday opening hours: 08.00 - 12.00
From the station or the airport it is recommended to take a taxi to reach the apartment.
