4 bed, 2 bath period house with mod cons just up from stunning Solva harbour
Set in the beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park, just a minute or so from Pembrokeshire's famously stunning coastal path, Tirmynydd (formerly known as Thimble End cottage) is situated in the tranquil heart of old Upper Solva.
Built in the late 1700's, Tirmynydd has an abundance of period features. Exposed beams in the lounge/diner, deep set windows for sitting in with a good book and a homely welsh stone hearth to gather around after a day's walking on the coastal path or a day at the beach! The well-equipped kitchen with all mod cons offers everything you need to cook and dine with family and friends. A sunny, enclosed garden is ideal for barbeques, play and relaxation. You're welcome to bring your dogs and there's WiFi, as you'd expect.
There are numerous pretty paths to take you down to picturesque Solva harbour, where children play on the sand when the tide is out, while others walk their dogs. The views on the way are breathtaking, quite unspoiled and different from one day to the next. Sit and watch the fishermen come in with the daily catch, families crabbing from the quay or wander along the quayside to the quaint little shops and galleries. Perhaps you will stop for refreshment in one of the several pubs and bistros near the harbour, or the brilliant 'Café on the Quay' serving teas, coffees and the most delicious Welsh ice cream - well worth a visit! When it comes to dining, choose to leave the car and take advantage of the excellent places to eat within easy walking distance from Tirmynydd, serving fresh catch-of-the-day, or venture a little further afield to St Davids or Porthgain for everything from afternoon teas to fine cuisine.
Whether it's adrenaline-inducing watersports, boat trips to offshore islands, or coasteering you are after, or beaches, a little leisurely tourism, eating out or simply relaxing in the secluded garden under the pergola, Tirmynydd offers a comfortable, quiet base from which to explore beautiful Pembrokeshire, whatever the season.
Discounts for smaller parties are available (excluding school holidays)
2 dogs maximum are very welcome at Tirmynydd, 1 dog is free but a second is charged at £25 a week. Bowls for your furry friends are available for your use at the cottage.

About Georgie Cunningham
I help my parents, Alistair and Sandy, to manage Tirmynydd. We love to welcome guests to enjoy the house and its many surrounding attractions but also spend lots of time here ourselves as a family. We are all keen walkers and love the outdoors. We spend much of our time in Solva either on the coastal path or on the beaches with the dogs. We try to synchronise our visits to Tirmynydd so that we can spend quality time together and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle as well as the many local eateries and traditional pubs! My young children love it in Solva, particularly crabbing and building sandcastles - it's fantastic for all 3 generations!

Why Georgie Cunningham chose Solva
My parents bought this lovely house after staying here previously as guests and experiencing it through the eyes of those they now welcome. As enthusiastic walkers (as well as their 2 dogs!) the proximity to the Pembrokeshire coastal path was the biggest attraction. However, you can't deny the stunning views just moments away and the vast sweeping beaches a few short miles from the house, with towns, restaurants, pubs and cafes all a short distance. They also wanted a place that we could all gather as a family to spend time together and it has given us many happy memories already in the 2 years that my parents have owned it.
What makes this Cottage unique
Tirmynydd is spacious yet cosy, with period features intertwined with all mod cons. Undoubtedly, Solva is one of the prettiest little harbours and quaintest towns and the house offers a great location to explore all around. The garden was a huge selling point as the children can play while the grown-ups enjoy a sun-downer.

A perfect cosy home - tastefully decorated and containing everything you need
The cottage is located at the top of a beautiful village on the Pembrokeshire coast. The area and the cottage itself are delightful. There is a wide range of activities locally and a superb range of restaurants and pubs near by. That said, we often stayed in and cooked as the local shop and cottage have everything you need for a delightful supper. We hope to find time to return again soon!
Thank you so much for your lovely review, it was an absolute pleasure having you to stay! We’re so pleased you loved the area as much as we do and really hope you will be back!
Boat trips to nearby islands - full of bird life.
