About the property

Newly renovated 1 bedroom cottage, fully enclosed courtyard. Stunning location.

Surrounded by trees and heathland, and set above beautiful marshes, Courtyard Cottage is a newly decorated , light and cosy 1 bedroom wing of the owners' house with private entrance, courtyard and parking. It is set back off the road along a country track and the private courtyard is filled with trees, ferns and pots of flowers and herbs. Access to the owners' sauna by arrangement. A staircase leads to a raised sunny terrace and an off-road parking space.

The entrance from the courtyard is through a tiled hallway for coats, boots and outdoor shoes. The kitchen has an electric oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge- freezer, coffee filter machine, toaster and kettle. French doors open to the sunny and leafy courtyard, perfect for breakfast, coffee, lunch and evenings outside. Leading off the kitchen, and up two steps, is a cosy sitting room with sofa, small armchair, TV, DVD player, books and board games.

A spiral staircase leads to the light and very spacious double bedroom with super king bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and fitted wardrobe. The new ensuite bathroom has a bath, separate shower and heated towel rail. Good quality towels and bedlinen are provided.

Step outside the garden gate and you are on partially wooded heathland, one of four heaths around the village, from where you can have a lovely circular walk down to adjacent marshland and back through a small wood to the cottage without even crossing a road. Both the heath and marsh are managed by Suffolk Wildlife Trust and are a haven for wildlife. Many species of birds including barn owl, heron, marsh harrier, egret and woodpecker may be seen. Lots of other walks along footpaths and lanes surround the cottage. It is also a great area for cycling - a few minutes from Route 1 of the National Cycle Network. Picturesque cycle ride to the sea on lanes and through a wood.

This is a beautiful and varied area of Suffolk, with heaths, marshes, beaches and forest. Just 5 minutes off the A12 down a country lane and less than 15 minutes' drive from the beaches of Southwold, Walberswick and Dunwich and the pretty village of Westleton. Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings and Orford are each half an hour's drive away. The attractive market town of Halesworth is only 10 minutes' drive away and has independent shops and coffee shops and monthly brocante and farmers' markets. There is also a small licensed village store for basic groceries and essentials just a five minute walk from the cottage across the heath. Good restaurants and pubs in the area and the village pub, The Star is a 5 minute walk away.

Although the cottage is self-contained it is part of our home and we like to welcome guests on or soon after their arrival. We leave you to enjoy your stay and are available if you have any questions or if you need help with how things work in the cottage.

A lovely relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We have just enjoyed a second stay at this extremely comfortable and peaceful property. Situated in a small village with a great pub serving really good food.

Within easy travelling distance to Southwold and surrounding towns and villages. Plenty to see and do.The cottage forms a wing of the

owners home but is completely self contained with its own seperate entrance through a beautiful Mediterranean courtyard garden. The lovely owners are on hand to offer assistance with anything but are also very careful to afford guests privacy.

A real gem!

Lovely self contained cottage for two

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, sweet cottage for two with private patio and wood burning stove, so would appeal at any time of the year. Large king size bed makes for a good night’s sleep. Easy driving distance from Southwold. Local pub, The Star, is within walking distance - remember to bring a torch with you as it can be a very dark walk back!

The cottage was perfect in every way, and had everything we needed. The owners were attentive yet discrete. The touches in the cottage made it feel home from home. Ideal for a couple looking to relax.

Fabulous cottage very clean and tidy

  • 5 of 5

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay near the coast. After a day out walking in and around Southwold we came back and relaxed in the cottage after a couple of drinks in the pub just down the road

Relaxing stay in Wenhaston

  • 5 of 5

A very well appointed cottage, cosy, comfortable and beautifully presented. Very well situated to explore Suffolk with everywhere in easy reach. The local pub (The Star) was very welcoming and only a 5 minute walk away. Our sincere thanks to Deborah and Martin, their lovely cottage is top of our list for our next trip to Suffolk!
