About the property

Winkle cottage is an 1800's fisherman's cottage nestled into the Brixham hillside, looking out North over the bay toward Torquay and out to sea. The property has undergone an extensive restoration in 2017 and has been lovingly restored in a sympathetic manner, retaining a wealth of charm and character. The cottage boasts an abundance of original features, including exposed stone walls, 2 feature fireplaces and a fantastic sun terrace overlooking the harbour bowl and open ocean.

A 2 minute walk from the front door and you are quayside, with a plethora of traditional inns, cocktail bars, bistro's and restaurants. A short walk further and you are at the beach and sea water lido, with Berry Head Nature Reserve and St. Mary's Bay and secluded beach also within walking range.

Winkle cottage provides a fantastic base for daytime activities and evening entertainment, with many festivals and events bringing locals and tourists together to provide a fantastic atmosphere. Be sure to check 'what's on' when planning your holiday.

The cottage is equipped with the latest in Smart technology for comfort and peace of mind. Smart features include the Nest Thermostat, Nest Smoke & Carbon Monoxide alarms (x2), Nest front and rear night-time security cameras, 32" Samsung Smart TV (access to catch-up & Netflix/YouTube) and Nocs NS2 Smart Audio speakers. All bedrooms boast new pocket sprung mattresses, luxury bedding and hotel quality duvets and pillows.

Sun Terrace - Suntrap from mid-morning to late evening with views over the harbor and out to sea, large dining table to comfortably seat 6 people.

Living/Dining Room - Large, light and airy room with solid oak flooring throughout, feature fireplace, leather 3 seater sofa's, large window seat looking over the harbour and out to sea. 32" Samsung Smart TV. Oak dining table and 4 chairs.

Kitchen - Oak worktops and integrated appliances; fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, fan assisted oven and induction hob. Cookware, dinnerware and cutlery. Wall mounted fire extinguisher, fire blanket and first aid kit in case of emergency.

Master Bedroom - Spacious room with King sized bed and pocket sprung mattress, bedside tables, reading lamps and chest of draws. Laura Ashley chaise Longue to enjoy the amazing views over the harbour and out to sea. 24" Samsung TV.

2nd Bedroom - Good size room with a standard double bed and pocket sprung mattress, bedside tripod light, built-in chest of draws and cupboard.

3rd Bedroom - Good size room with standard single bed and pocket sprung mattress, bedside table and reading lamp.

Dressing Area - Communal dressing table, stool and mirror with hairdryer.

Bathroom - Large modern double shower room with w/c, wash hand basin, mirror and central heated towel rail.

Beautiful comfortable harbour cottage

Great cottage with fantastic sunrises and sunsets. Very comfortable lounge and bedrooms with an easy style throughout. Well considered holiday home in a fabulous location. Plenty to see and do and all from a great cottage that feels like a home from home. Would definitely recommend and revisit - Brixham has so much to offer from the engaging harbour to fantastic food and a beautical walks to coves and bays.

Fabulous house in a fabulous location!

Stayed for 1 week in April. Proximity to Brixham harbour is fantastic. We enjoyed strolls down to the front and along the coast in both directions. House is well equipped and decorated well. It was lovely to sit on the front terrace with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. The house is in a very peaceful location despite the closeness to town. We can highly recommend Liberty’s cocktail bar for a Pina Colada or two and their cakes are fab too. We enjoyed a delicious meal at Shoals restaurant whilst watching seals in the water. A fantastic stay - thank you!

Charming period cottage - stunning views

This charming property which has been sympathetically restored, was clean, well maintained, had every convenience you could wish for in a home away from home.

All the shops, cafes, bars and harbour attractions were within a short walk and the atmosphere in Brixham was most welcoming.

We will be back and hope that Winkle cottage is available when we do, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great Property & Location - Fabulous Holiday

The Property is in a great location, just a short walk from the shops, restaurants and the sea. From the terrace you can see right over the harbour which is stunning at night with all the lights. The decor is modern and done to a high standard, all our needs for a relaxing break were catered for. The property is child friendly so no issues if you have little ones running around. It was clean and well maintained, we would highly recommend this property and happily send our friends & family there. We had a fab holiday *

We would definitely come back some other time!

The house is a newly renovated lovely cottage at Brixham's hill at the harbor. You have great views from the house across the harbor and the whole town, even across the bay to Torquay. The house is well equipped and comfortable. We stayed with four people, which was ideal. You have all comfort with smart TV (2), Bluetooth speakers and good wifi. The beds are really comfy and the house has been tastefully decorated. All shops and restaurants are close by. Be aware though in Brixham you always have to walk up and down the hills. You can drive up to the house. The upper part of North View Road gets quite narrow between houses and parked cars. We almost got stuck with our SUV. Better just back up the short bit to the house and then park in the wider streets above like Mount Road. There are always some parking spaces there and they are free. We really liked the cottage and would definitely come back some other time.

This Place Is Great!

This place is great. It's a short walk to the town/harbour (albeit on some steep steps!) which contains lots of great restaurants and pubs. It has been very recently refurbished and contains everything you need right down to a beautiful bottle opener from harrods! It was more than we could have asked and was ideal for us as a family with 2 small children. Brixham itself is a lovely town with a proper fishing industry at its core. The stand out feature for me was the unpretentious, fresh flavoursome and fishy food. Would definitely visit winkle cottage again.
