About Dave Beaumont
Marilyn and Dave have lived in Nottingham since 1974, and are now both retired from working. They met at Perransands Holiday Camp in 1969 where Dave worked behind the bar and Marilyn in the shop. Marilyn spends much time looking after the grandchildren, who live nearby, and Dave tries to play golf and is still an active rugby referee.
Dave Beaumont purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Dave Beaumont chose Saint Ives
Marilyn's father was born and bred in St Ives which is why they bought the flat. They and their 2 daughters have holidayed every year in St Ives from 1988. We originally bought a Fishermans Cottage in Carncrows St, but fell in love with the flat, because of its amazing view.

The Number One View In St Ived
The perfect view of St Ives Harbour from the bay window in the living room, nice quiet rooms and the back of the apartment, with a well equipped kitchen in the middle. Friendly owner to deal with, so really enjoyed our stay here.
A great location, but grubby, and the access was via a waste bin alley.
Modern Flat with Fantastic View
The view across the harbour is fantastic and really makes the property. We felt like we were in the action whilst relaxing in our own place. Very spacious and modern with 2 large double bedrooms each with own bathroom and plenty of drawers and wardrobe space.
As stated by the owners the entrance area is not the best but you don’t have to hang around there so not a problem.
Having the parking included was also a real plus point, we even managed to carry our luggage down from there on arrival to save driving through town in the traffic. When leaving we managed to drive down and park outside early 8.30 am.
The only slight negative was the place was so warm with being above the chip shop and restaurant, especially the back bedroom but it wasn’t really practical to sleep with windows open due to noise from ventilators and there were some fishy smells wafting in at times as the bedroom windows open onto the back service area. Some fans or air con would make all the difference. The front windows could be left open at all times though so that wasn’t an issue sitting in the living room and enjoying the views. We would stay here again.
This property could be amazing HOWEVER!!!!! On checking property and facilities on arrival, we found body hair in the beds and the pillows smelt of sweat and vomit! We had to buy new sheets,
pillows and pillow cases. The bathrooms were dirty, towel rails, skirting boards and shower tray outer rim was thick in dust. The toilet brushes were DISGUSTING, the oven was thick in grease and there was sand brushed under the rug in the living area. The curtains were too small for the windows and so the hooks came off the rail in the middle where the rail did not meet. The outside access area was in an alley where several businesses and the flat stored the skip bins. The bin to the flat Was almost full on arrival and was not emptied for several days, therefore it overflowed and rubbish was all over the floor, including food, food cartons, nappies to name but a few. ( I have photos) I had to contact the owner of the flat to get the bin emptied, he had to contact refuse company. If they had been left it could have encouraged rats and been a health hazard. I told him of these problems and he has reimbursed the cost of the bedding. The kitchen sink was dirty, covered in grease and smelt. The furniture in the lower bedroom , the wardrobe doors and the drawers did not close properly. (Cheap furniture) and the bedroom smelt of fish from the restaurant below. There was only one egg cup for four people. Also the advert for the flat does not tell you there are 21 steps up to the flat and it does say there is a lift, although there is not!!!!! On the positive side the view is fabulous of St Ives wharf. We felt very disappointed on arrival but made the best of it.
We are sorry that you had a less than ideal holiday and felt you needed to make these hurtful comments (over 3 months after you stayed).
We find it difficult to believe there was sweat, vomit and body hair on the pillows, as we have used the same cleaners for more than 10 years without a similar complaint. The issue of bed linen was raised when you stayed for which we immediately offered and paid compensation. Other issues within the flat were not raised at the time – and we would have sent the cleaners in again, if known about.
We cannot understand how you thought there was a lift, and the HomeAway description makes clear it’s on the first floor.
We realise the outside access area has been a particular problem this year 2019 (with restaurants not keeping the area clean) – we have discussed with the Council who have said they will agree a clear set of rules and apply sanctions to the restaurants.
We are glad you enjoyed the Harbour Views.
Excellent location and views
Excellent location and views. Car parking 10 minute walk but in St Ives that is brilliant. Rooms large and well fitted. Paint work etc recently updated and generally fine with a few warts. Instructions first class. Entrance a little seedy but that is St Ives. Really enjoyed stay.
Lovely apartment with an amazing view of St. I’ves harbour! We had a fantastic week and the gorgeous weather and inclusive parking space were a real bonus. Central location with lots to eat, drink and see within walking distance. Would definitely return!
