Our rural fully-equipped self-catering lodge is built upon recycled tyre foundations and powered by the wind and sun at the rear of a rural business centre. The lodge is set in a rural location a few miles from the historic town of Wallingford. It has its own fenced garden with South-facing sun deck and the lounge/dining room, bedroom and kitchen all have views over open fields to the South. We have chickens, geese and sheep in the next door fields. Ecopods has been designed with plenty of light to make the most of the sunshine throughout the year, and there is a small wood burner so it's all toasty on those cold winter evenings.
There's a separate open plan dining/lounge area with a link to a small well-equipped kitchen and a shower room off an entrance hallway. This also links to a separate large bedroom.
The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, gas oven, microwave, toaster, bodum-style coffee pot & frother and a good selection of kitchenware and utensils.
A wooden deck with patio furniture runs along the whole of the South-facing side of the building, looking over the garden and fields beyond.
There's full access to the entire building plus the adjacent fenced garden. There is plenty of parking available in front of the lodge.
Interaction with guests
I provide my mobile number so guests can text me if they need anything. I live only 400 metres away so can respond quickly if required.
Other things to note
The free-ranging geese, guinea fowl & chickens in the fields next door can sometime be noisy especially in spring but there's high performance double glazing and plenty of insulation on the building - and you are welcome to some free-range eggs for breakfast!
We can also provide plenty of hardwood for the portable fire-pit style barbeque if required which can be great on summer evenings!
The lodge is fully equipped with towels, tea towels, cloths, shampoo/conditioner, soap, washing up liquid and laundry liquid/conditioner.
