Walk to the stunning Northumberland beaches, Perfect for couples
About Lara Mellor
Hi. Andy and Lara here! You are bound to meet us and our 2 little miniature poodles during your stay as we live in the main house at the front of the property. We are always pleased to answer any questions you have about the local area or generally just stop for a chat. Although we only moved to Warwkorth in 2016 we have been holidaying in the area for many years and often find we can give the original locals ideas on where to go!! We moved from busy West London and are loving the slower pace of life, friendly people and wide open areas Northumberland has to offer. We look forward to meeting you.
Lara Mellor purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Lara Mellor chose Warkworth
We are situated in the centre of the village about as close to all the local amenities as it is possible to be. Being walking distance to the beach is another huge plus for us. It is amazing to see the changes from season to season or even day to day. The studio is part of an original 1800's barn and still retains the exposed stone walls in parts of the property.
What makes this Cottage unique
Guests have shared use of the large walled garden. Being directly on a regular bus route means taking the car out every day is not a necessity. There is also a lot to do directly in the village. Nearby Amble offers boat trips and a harbour. And you can even walk 6 miles along the beach to the next village Alnmouth.
2 small, well behaved dogs. Not left unattended
Children not allowed
Max guests:2 (sleeps up to 2 adults)

Short break in Warkworth
An excellent property particularly dog friendly.
We are so pleased that you all enjoyed your stay.
Why not disclose builders on situe?
Property owners doing major renovations adjacent to holiday let. Unacceptable we booked holiday to escape building works from our own home! Owner pleasant but trying to buy off with bottle of wine unacceptable! We should have been contacted before arrival and asked if builders being present acceptable. We were told power would be possibly unavailable but at no set time. The owner has 2nd property above 1st property which means you hear the above occupier's move around. You also have those occupants and owners use garden overlooking property state in at you...no privacy. As previous 100% happy customers we will now book elsewhere!
We are sorry to read your comments. Although building work is currently being finished to the adjacent property we do everything possible to minimise the disturbance and it should not have unduly effected your stay. We were unable to provide you with a time for the power switch off as the builders didn’t know when the workman was coming. It was arranged for after 10 am which we did advise you of to provide our guests time to get up and have breakfast before they arrived. The specific time was out of our control. The property is on the ground floor with another property above so there will be some sounds from the property upstairs. We are careful to make it clear on the property details that the garden is shared by the owners and the other property. When you mentioned that one of your dogs was not overly sociable with other dogs we kept ours out of the garden as much as possible. The external building works on the adjacent property are due to be completed in the next 6 weeks at which point it should have no effect on the holiday cottage.
Ollie & Freddie’s first trip to the seaside.
Super studio, lovely hosts and great location. Our first trip to the seaside with the dogs and what a lovely location, superb Northumberland coastline. Lara and Andy were very friendly and informative. Freddie & Ollie sleep in the kitchen at home so it was interesting to see what would happen at night time. Ollie was brilliant but Freddie, still a baby couldn’t resist the chance to get to his mum. People in the other accommodation including Bunty were also very freindly . We will certainly be coming back to Northumberland again.
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and the boys enjoyed the beach. Bless young Freddie making the most of the opportunity to get to his mum!! We hope to see you back again in the future.
Warkworth is a great base for many outdoor activities with its many beaches, rivers and the Cheviot Hills all nearby. If you are planning on bringing your 4 legged friend then the beaches are dog friendly all year round as are many of the bars and cafes. Local attractions not to be missed are Warkworth Castle (one of many castles in the area - there must be about a dozen) and the Hermitage. Alnwick Castle and Gardens are only 10 minutes away. For any history buffs, as well as the castles, Hadrians wall is nearby. Don't miss the boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses. If you go in the summer you'll see the puffins and get dive bombed by the Arctic terns - so don't forget your hat!! In the Autumn you should see the baby seals. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink. The Ship Inn at Low Newton sits in a lovely square and even has it's own microbrewery. If it's seafood you are after The Old Boathouse in Amble is the place to go. People travel from miles away to pop in for tea and cake at the Cafe Bertrams in the village. The Northumbrians are a friendly bunch and there is always a warm welcome wherever you go.
