We had a fantastic stay at Villa Mafalda. It's even more spacious than it seems in the photos. The rooms are well spread out (which was important as we were two sisters staying there together with our families). It is so well equipped. Had everything we needed and more. Even the kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, fresh juice etc. The pool is very well kept. I would highly highly recommend this holiday home. It's well worth the money. We had a great holiday there.
2 great weeks at the villa! we did do some sightseeing, but due to the luxury of the villa and it's pool we had no need to leave the premises more often! will surely return for the 3rd stay! greeting fam Cleveringa
We had a fantastic week at Carla's lovely villa in Umbria. The villa is very well placed to explore the beautiful Umbrian countryside. Carla really made sure that we were happy and that everything was to our liking. There was even a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge when we arrived, as well as coke for the kids and milk so we could make a cup of tea!
There is so much to do - we went on the train to Rome twice, visited the nearby waterfall (highest in Europe apparently!), went rafting in Arrone, visited the underground rooms in nearby Narni and had a fantastic meal at a restaurant called La Mola!
With a family of 8 (6 adults, 2 (grand)children, 2 and 4 years), we spent an unforgettable week in Villa Mafalda in August 2012. The place is terrific: a very comfortably quiet location, with optimal privacy, a breathtaking scenery, and living space that in every respect deserves the qualification of a top location. The house is beautifully constructed, very spacy (important with a family of eight) and well furnished, clean, and provides all modern communication facilities (like satellite tv and internet). Importantly, the complex also has a swimming pool, a genuine joy for both adults and children- which is cleaned on a daily basis by the owner. In fact, Mrs Carla turned out to be a wonderful host, and among others welcomed us with a fridge well stuffed and a bottle of excellent wine(!), so that we could postpone early shopping. In the direct environment, there is a host of cultural activities available, for example in the most beautiful (medieval) town Stroncone, but also in nearby towns like Narni, Spoleto, and Marmore, where the largest waterfall in Europe can be found. A detailed information package was made available, which also contained a recommendation of outstanding restaurants (one of them within walking distance of the Villa)- entirely in line with this first rate ‘holiday resort’. The house has a beautiful shady balcony, where we enjoyed our meals. Finally, there is a fence around the entire house and cars are parked within the compound. In short, we felt at home from the first minute when we entered the house and with much regret we left- it was indeed an unforgettable experience in every respect.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Villa Mafalda. What a perfect Umbrian holiday!
The location could not better as you are only a short drive from a main town (Terni) as well as easy day trips to fantastic medieval hilltop villages steeped in history - Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Spoleto, Todi and more!
All were well worth a visit, each fascinating with their ancient stone streets, magnificent churches and lively piazzas (as well as great shopping!). And each had their own interesting individual ambience, which made each one a special treat.
The villa itself is totally comfortable - big and clean with perfect views of the surrounding valley and hills from the terrace where we had our breakfast daily (cappuccino coffee maker provided!) and the meals we prepared when we weren't out sampling the delicious restaurants nearby - two of which were even walking distance - or in one of the hill towns (our favourite was La Mola in Stroncone, a 10 minute drive).
The pool is gorgeous - just the perfect temperature and even big enough to swim lengths - and the view is spectacular. Perfect for those days in between sightseeing when we wanted to be lazy, or come back to from a half-day excursion.
Carla, the owner, and her family, were extremely helpful and welcoming and able to recommend places to go and things to do.
Upon advance request, she organized a cooking class for us from an amazing chef in Terni (a five minute drive away). When we were there, there were many food festivals going on in the local villages and we had the happy opportunity to attend a Pappardella Festival that Carla told us about in a nearby village.
She also directed us to a website to book our accommodation in Rome for our final two days in Italy and would have booked a winery tour as well as other events had we desired that.
I would totally recommended staying there to friends and family of all ages for a holiday that is both relaxing and invigorating - your choice to make each day.
Villa Mafalda is situated about 2 Km from the medieval town of Collescipoli, 5 km from Terni centre. and 100 km from Rome which you can reach by fast train in 45 min. A few steps away from the property you can catch a bus to the Railway station and town centre.
Tha Marmore waterfalls and Piediluco lake are only a few minutes drive.
In the surroundings there are many picturesque medieval villages with typical restaurants where you can enjoy the delicious Umbrian cuisine.
The nearness to Rome and to the historical centres of Todi, Orvieto, Assisi, Perugia and the neighbouring Tuscany, allows not only to enjoy the countryside, but also to visit important cultural sites.
