Nice property, great feel, some updates needed

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is really beautiful. Mediterranean Style Villa is definitely a proper description. Nicely tiled floors and generally pleasing architecture all around. We like to stay in places with unique character and this is definitely one. The master bedroom is not connected to the main living area, which we thought was a nice touch. It's just a few steps away under a trellised walkway, which adds to the outdoor, connected with nature feel of the place. The master bathroom also has a cool open shower with a glass highlight way above. The bedroom is fun, but the bed itself is nothing special. Just a double bed with no special comfort accoutrements other than the mosquito netting. The room is big enough to accommodate something better. If one were to add the "cottage" rental for extra sleeping capacity, it would fit in seamlessly, as the cottage is about 50 feet away, same nice architecture and general feel. The grounds are nicely landscaped, and the whole complex is set off the road by a private driveway which keeps it completely isolated. If viewing from google earth or satellite, you'll see another building on the property which is just a garage. Nothing intrusive or ugly. The access to bottle creek sound is via a short series of paths that go to the water from various points on the property. The paths are cute and fun . The water access is a rocky entry with a drop off of 1 to 2 feet, but once over the initial rocks it's sandy and good for swimming. (not a sandy beach where kids would play though) Easy to launch Kayaks. The cons of this property are a couple things that could be addressed with some TLC. It does feel as if some of the things have been there too long and are getting dusty/musty. Kitchen pans/utensils are old, and some felt like needed a scrubbing before use. Some of the recreation items (kayak gear and snorkel equipment) are stored in a musty area in a room underneath kitchen. It would make sense for management to get these items cleaned and in good working order prior to guests arriving. We saw more ants that we think is acceptable, but only in the kitchen area. We are not bug squeamish people per se. In the tropics and amidst the vegetation, bugs happen. Perhaps a person with a strong critter aversion wouldn't be traveling to remote areas such North/Middle Caicos to begin with, but if you are that person you should probably avoid this place. Regine was very helpful. View from deck is wonderful.

Not as depicted. Not clean. Had an abandoned look.

  • 3 of 5

When we turned back the bed at 10pm (after getting up at 4:30am to travel) we found there were no sheets on the bed. We had to take the sheets from the guest cottage next door. The guest cottage was left unlocked for us as our refrigerator was not working and we were told to just use the one in the guest cottage. Coffee pot was so dirty, not just stained but real dirt, it was not useable. No hair dryer. Food items left in kitchen for guests use have been ther for years. I.e., cooking sauces, vinegar, baking powder. Not well appointed.

Lovely stay!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we had an incredible vacation at Belle Roche on North Caicos! If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation this spot is for you. My boys enjoyed exploring the "secret paths" that led to the creek as well as walking along the creek. We also took the kayaks out to explore the creek. Take water shoes as it is rocky near the shore. Mosquito repellent is also a must on the days where there is no wind and at dusk.

Highlights for the family included many trips to Mudjin Harbour/Dragon's Cay to jump in the waves, swim and collect sea glass. It was a short 10 minute drive from the house. The restaurant at Blue Horizon was great for lunch. Fishing with Captain D (One Stop Sporting Shop) was amazing! We saw a pod of dolphins and caught enough fish for our dinners during our stay.

Olga, Regine and all of our neighbours were so warm and friendly. They made us feel welcome at the house and helped us with any information we needed about the house and island during our stay. Thanks for a fantastic vacation!

Family Adventure Fun

  • 5 of 5

This was a great getaway for our family (3 kids). We rented both the main house and the cottage. We would wake up with the sunrise and have coffee on the deck overlooking the water. As the day would get going, we had our choice of things to do. A stroll along the water, maybe with some line fishing. Kayaking in the "creek"...turtles swam right by us, the kids were thrilled! And everyone's favorite, a quick drive to Mudjin beach on Middle Caicos - beautiful beach, with great waves for playing in, soft sand, and an awesome rocky island for climbing and exploring. There was a great little restaurant at Blue Horizon to stop for lunch while there. We spent the afternoons hanging out on the hammock by the water while the kids explored the nooks and crannies along the rocky shore.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, well planned charming house with absolutely stunning view far out onto lagoon. It's a luxury to live the simple life in a gorgeous setting!! High points: being on the deck and watching the colors of sky and water change. Kayaking. Visits to other gorgeous and unpopulated beaches, each with its own character. Enjoyng a meal and a drink at a local place. Host is helpful.
