About the property

Old and new in beautiful association. Recently renovated and completed in spring 2016

Old and new in beautiful association. Recently renovated and completed in spring 2016! An older part of old north country house from about 1890 with visible wood interior, new and modern kitchen and bathroom. 3 bedrooms. New part with large windows and spectacular views of the mountains and the sea. Shielded location.

"Gammelstua" is located on Straumnes in Rolvsfjord, 20 meters from the shoreline. Renovated / newly built spring 2016. The house is sheltered and sunny with an idyllic location facing south-west. Rolvsfjord is located in the middle of Lofoten, south of Vestvågøy and is short distance to both airports and expressway. Walking distance to a horse-riding center that offers horse riding and great hiking trails for both horse riding and mountain hiking on foot. The golf course is just a short drive away and great fishing opportunities.

See the midnight sun from the mountain tops, or experience the northern lights from the hot tub on the veranda (planned hot tub for autumn 2017).

Formidable views and rich wildlife.

Thrifty settlement in the area with old farms, some permanent residents and some holiday homes.

15 km to the nearest grocery store.

A rich menu of different activities is located in the house and we are happy to organize a memorable adventure holiday in Lofoten

About Erik Makitaavola

Originally from Sweden. I was searching for new jobb opportunities and ended up moving to beautiful Norway in 2008. I have a master in mechanical engineering and today running my own Consultancy Business. Im a social guy and loves outdoor activites as gold, hiking, skiing etc. Also I like to spend time travelling with my family. Me an my wife moved to Lofoten Islands in 2012. We bought our farm in the contryside where we also have our islandic horses.

Erik Makitaavola purchased this house in 2012

Why Erik Makitaavola chose Leknes

There was an old fishermans house included when we bough our farm. It is an old house made from timber and was build in 1890 in Lofoten but the timber is aprox. 100 years older and was shipped from Trondheim area to Lofoten. It was in very poor conditions and was almost falling apart but we decided to try recover as much as possible. The renovation was completed in 2016 and we keept the orignal design but with high current standards. Inside you can see the old timber visible.

What makes this house unique

Old and new in perfect harmony. Renovated part of an old Nordland house from about 1890 with visible timber interior, new modern kitchen and bathroom. 3 bedrooms. New part with large windows and spectacular views of mountains and sea.

Absolutely amazing cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I stayed here for 5 nights in October and it was fantastic. We came to Lofoten to elope and got nothing but the best from Erik and Runa, the home owners. Our arriving flight into Kiruna was not able to land due to weather and we were rerouted to Skelleftea where we had to drive. Erik was beyond accommodating to help us arrive at the cabin regardless. He made sure our rental car reservation did not get cancelled and we had a place to stay for the night we could not make it in.

The cabin itself is stunning. Gorgeous views of the sea and mountains, and at night you can turn off all the lights to have complete darkness to see the northern lights. Anything we needed, Erik was just a text or call away and responded quicker than ever. Thank you Erik and Runa for accommodating us and we surely will recommend you and we will also be back!
