This beautiful 2-bed flat in a historic early 18th century house is comfortable and bright with a new kitchen and 300-year old wood panelling and original floors.
It is located in Soho in the beating heart of London's thriving theatre-, shopping and restaurant-district.
Major museums, art galleries, parks, Buckingham Palace, the South Bank, dozens of theatres, cinemas, and all the shopping attractions of Bond Street, Oxford Street and Covent Garden are within fifteen easy walking minutes of the front door.
The rest of London is easily accessible through three near-by tube stops (Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road) and numerous buses.
The flat is on the third floor of a historic (circa 1700') Queen Anne house in Soho. It is newly refurbished to a high standard and has original early 18th century panelling in all the rooms.
Free wifi is available via the flat's dedicated broadband service.
The spacious living room contains a large sleep sofa, a 32'' flat screen TV, and a dining area with chairs and table sitting 4.
The large kitchen has brand new units and appliances including washing machine, dishwasher, double-height fridge freezer, electric oven and gas hob.
The two bedrooms are airy and bright and each contains a double bed (one is slightly smaller than a standard double bed).
NB : The bathroom containing a bath and WC is very compact. There is a separate shower concealed behind the panelling in one of the bedrooms.
The flat is furnished with a mixture of antique and modern furniture and has beautiful polished original wooden floors with oriental and modern rugs.
Soho is a lively area in the evening but our street is relatively quiet as is the flat.
Staying here, visitors can enjoy luxurious accommodation while experiencing the "village" that is the very centre of this great city.
I live with my wife (an arts journalist), kids (16 and 14 years old), two cats and a dog in the lower floors of the house where we rent flats. I am a former academic, having been, most recently professor at Imperial College, London. I currently run my own software and risk advisory firm, the offices of which are a few hundred yards from the house.
We just returned from a 10 day stay at this charming apartment. The restoration of this nearly 300 year old building is fantastic ranging from beautiful refinishing of the original creeky, but wonderfully textured, floor to a thoroughly modern kitchen. The three of us fit in perfectly. The climb up the stairs was a bit challenging for our 70 yr. old bodies, but it always ended a day spent working our legs anyway walking to and fro from the perfect central location of the flat. Given the location amoung the hustle and bustle of Soho, the street is remarkably quiet. It was equipped with everything we needed such that it began to feel like home immediately. Thank you William, Jane and Flora for your hospitality.
This was our first family trip to London with the primary purpose of hitting all the major sites. We wanted to be close to multiple underground stations and be able to walk to many other spots. This flat was perfect for that.
The flat itself worked fine for my wife and I and 2 teenage buys. There are two bedrooms and a pullout couch so we were comfortable. There are technically 2 bathrooms but beware that really the only functional shower is in one of the bedrooms. While there is another tub where the toilet and sink are it really isn't functional. It's just 2 small and weird configuration. Not a big deal for us but for others it might. As I mentioned the toilet is up a narrow set of stairs so be aware of that aspect as well.
Renting could not have been any easier. Flora was responsive to our multiple inquiries. And William and Jane were very nice on the rare occasion we bumped into them during our 6 night stay.
Lastly do know that it can be very loud on the street below particularly on Saturday night. It's in the heart of theatre district and close to Chinatown so it is to be expected. During the week it was not an issue at all.
We hit some great little spots in the area and took in a show "Kinky Boots" which was excellent. Other great finds were "The Breakfast Club for breakfast
Soho Secret Tea Room" - for afternoon tea. It's a block away. Yelp it or you will never find it. It's upstairs from a bar in corner of Greek and Romily. You have to go into the bar and ask the bartender.
Duck and Dog for Fish and Chips.
Classic, clean and tidy flat in a very convenient location! Very friendly and helpful owner. We really enjoyed our stay!
We loved it! Felt like home! The house is amazing in every way, and the neighborhood is fantastic! Definitely coming back! Thanks for everything!
A friend and I spent a week's holiday in London at the end of January. The flat was bright, clean, and had everything we needed. We didn't do much cooking in, but it was nice to have the option, and the provision of some breakfast materials (bagels, butter, jam, milk, tea & coffee) was a nice and appreciated touch.
You can't ask for a better location - steps from the theatres, great restaurants and pubs, Chinatown, and several transit options. It feels like you're right in the beating heart of the city. The downside to that, though, is that it is often quite loud at night and sometimes into the early morning hours. The owners are aware, however, and the earplugs they provided were used and appreciated!
Should I visit London again, I would stay here again, and will recommend it to others. Thanks for the lovely stay!
Our family spent 3 nights in January in this Soho flat and everything was just great. Thanks, Flora, for providing us with essentials such as coffee, milk, tea and making us feel at home.
The flat is on the third floor of an old building, in the heart of Soho, very clean and neat, within walking distance to theatres, museums, etc.
