Just got back from a week staying at the Old Town Bali Hideaway. This place is georgous!!! The owners were marvelous to work with and their staff was very helpful when we had a couple of questions. The private compound is landscaped to perfection and the pool was really nice to have when you just wanted to chill out.
I recommend this property to any couple who likes privacy. We will go back!!!
The location of this little sleepy bungalow is a block from Sloppy Joe's and two blocks from the sunset cruise catamarans. A block in the other direction is Caroline Street, which has an even better bar than the ones on Duval, Pepe's. It is quiet and yet in the middle of everything. There is a smallish pool, yet big for Key West, which helps a lot when you work up a sheen of sweat walking around, which is inevitable.
I can't say enough about this little place. The photos do it justice; it is beautiful. It's a bit small, but the secluded patio really make it feel isolated. We chose this place for our honeymoon and are extremely pleased.
We definitely plan on returning - to this location specifically. One thing to keep in mind is there is no parking - at all. As you plan your trip, make sure to keep that in mind.
We loved our stay at the Bali Hideaway. Walking distance to everything and very quiet. Will definitely go back.
We loved the Bali Hideaway. We were only a block away from the action but felt like a private bungalow in Costa Rica. Our entry was on a quiet side street. Once through the gate we entered a winding walk through a beautiful tropical garden. We loved the bungalow. I am a designer and usually want to move things around or make changes immediately. But not this time. The room was small but well designed. Every inch of space was designed for use and comfort. I loved the relaxed feel I had staying there. There was a small pool but not heated. So I enjoyed lounging there while reading. There was a small patio area with the bungalow, that my husband claimed as his. We opened the double doors and truly enjoyed the comfortable expansion of our room. It is a perfect place for a couple getaway. We hope to return.
I agree with the previous reviews, and highly recommend this quaint rental for two! There was coffee and milk in the kitchen, a nice basket with Beach towels and an assortment of tanning lotions; umbrellas in one of the drawers; basic bathroom stuff (shampoo, soap, etc..) in case you forget yours. We did not cook, but you could quite easily if needed. There are books to read (I left you one I finished). You are literally steps away from the action of Duvall street, but we did not hear it at night. The owner was great to work with. Two thumbs up!
My wife and I stayed here for 4-5 nights in the last week of January 2014. The photos we looked at before we booked the space were very nice, but hard to detect too many subtle details. The real selling point to us was the terrace that opens up from the studio, it was described as private. When we got there, we were delighted by how private it actually was. From the street, you enter through two gates, one locked, and walk thru a very leafy, somewhat circuitous common area where two friendly cats spend a lot of time. A third gate to our unit was locked. The outdoor space is fantastic. A simple table and a few chairs, an indonesian style daybed, plants, lots of privacy. The pool looked lovely, although we didn't get a chance to swim. The inside of the unit has many carefully chosen details, including a woven mat ceiling, again something you might see in the south pacific. Everything in the small modern kitchen was great, my wife liked it a lot. We have stayed in places before where the attention detail has not been nearly as careful and it really shows when the owners seem to really care. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well appointed, shower big enough for two. The space itself overall is small, but very cozy. There are tons of switches for lights, fans and other gadgets. The cats are nice enough, but we didn't want them coming inside so we had to shoo them away, so if you don't like cats I can see that being an annoyance. Parking is a bit of a challenge, you can pay $20 or more for 24 hrs at a nearby lot around the corner. I ended up finding parking on Fleming Street about a 5 minute walk away. Look for the spaces that say RESIDENTIAL PARKING painted on the asphalt if you'd rather spend the $20 on drinks at any of the very fun drinking spots within a stone's throw of your front door. We spent at least 3-4 fun hours at Shots and Giggles, probably the closest bar to the unit. Our last night in Key West, there was a big downpour, Duval street was like a river, and in all the running around I lost the keys. The owners didn't request any additional charges (though in retrospect I wish I'd left behind some money for the keys). The keychain had a local address on them so I hope one of the nice people in Key West returned them. We met the owners, very sweet people. The occasion of our trip was our 10th wedding anniversary, and we will always have wonderful memories of the short time we spent in Key West, and our quiet, clean and friendly accommodations.
