About Ken and Valerie White
Every time our family visits they fall in love all over again with this little piece of heaven. Our grandchildren can hardly wait to visit us here or maybe it is jumping in the pool they are anticipating the most! Our son and one son-in-law love to gold pan in the river and our second son-in-law can sit for hours fishing for Cut-Throat Trout. We have hosted a crowd of 70 to celebrate our 30th anniversary and hosted dinners for four around a camp fire. We welcome you to relax and unwind to the sound of Goat River rumbling over the rocks.
Ken and Valerie White purchased this Bungalow in 2008
Why Ken and Valerie White chose Creston
As children we spent holidays in this area every year. When we saw the opportunity to own a piece of waterfront in the beautiful Creston Valley we couldn't say "No." We love the veggie and fruit markets that line the highway through Creston and we have our favourite orchards in Erickson where we buy directly from the growers. The climate is amazing with long, hot summers and mild winters. The Goat River is a living, moving part of our life at Goat River Lookout and one can hear the sound of the river and rapids any where you are on the 7 and a 1/2 acres. Being on water was vital and the lovely house is just a bonus. Every ceiling is vaulted and the kitchen is a cook's dream come true. We have updated the property over the last 8 years by countrifying the 90s kitchen, installing a glass peninsula shower in the master, putting in new luxury vinyl planking throughout, new shutter style blinds, a new roof, and this year we are putting in two efficient wood stoves in place of the two fireplaces. The stove that straddles the kitchen/dining area and living room has a bake oven and cooking surface. We will be uploading pictures of the stoves and marble tiled walls as soon as this is complete. We also dismantled a roomy but leaky jet tub in the master bathroom and are installing a modern claw-foot tub. Pictures of the Master bath will be uploaded soon. We hope this is the last reno for a while!
What makes this Bungalow unique
The sound of the water and the smell of the cedars and firs will assault your senses as you enter the property. This is what we first noticed on the day 8 years ago when we first viewed our place. We have a cherry tree that you are welcome to pick in season and apple and plum trees that are ready in the fall. We love to gold pan in the river and have a vial of gold specks as our reward for cold hands and feet and sore backs. Our property came with two cats but now only Miss Kitty rules the roost. She is a big tabby who lives in the garage and is NOT allowed in the house. This feline is a big tub of furry love and many of our guest book comments state that Miss Kitty was the favourite attraction. Our grandkids run to see if Miss Kitty is still waiting for them and she gets the first snuggles. We love that there is no cable or satellite TV and we unplug, unwind, watch old movies on the TV/DVD/VCR, read books or play games in the evening.

Sports & Adventure Activities
Our family of 6 (3 adults, 2 teenagers and one 8 year old) spent a wonderful week at Goat River Lookout. Everything was exactly as it was described on the VRBO listing. The property was easy to find, immaculate and very well equipped. Ken and Valerie were extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. The kids loved the pool and fished the scenic hole in the river for Cutthroat Trout. The relaxing ambiance and scenery was unbeatable. The town of Creston was an easy 10 minute drive away for groceries/shopping, sight-seeing and wine tasting. Thank you Ken and Valerie for a memorable stay!
Thank you Willem. Your family is welcome to come back as soon as we sort out our rental plans for next year. You were great renters! Ken and Valerie
