Relaxing Week with Stunning Views
My husband and I were looking for a secluded cabin getaway for our honeymoon and came across Heaven on Earth. Admittedly when we found the listing and looked at the pictures I thought for sure this place couldn't be real....but the cabin really does live up to the pictures! The gravel road to the cabin was a little nerve wrecking the first time because it is very curvy and steep at times, and I HIGHLY recommend arriving before night because it's tricky, but once we got up there is was absolutely stunning. The view is spectacular and the cabin is perfectly cozy! The weather was a bit bipolar while we were there with thunderstorms one day followed by a snow storm the next, but we weren't even upset being stuck inside in late March because the cabin was so wonderful. Sadly we didn't get to explore Bryson City very much because we were there before their tourist season began and the shops were shut down all week, which was unexpected and disappointing. But the local museum was fun to explore and the people there were very friendly and informative helping us find trails and places to explore during our stay. We did get to go out and explore the State Park, which is easy to navigate to and lots of fun to explore! The only other thing that was a little disappointing was that the cabin isn't as secluded as I expected. There is a cabin right above and another right below, but honestly, the only people we ever saw while we were there were construction workers working on the cabin right below us so it still felt very secluded and private. However, if you're expecting a cabin without neighbors, you might be disappointed. All in all this was an amazing week and we hope to make a return visit during warmer weather sometime!
Amazing Cabin but Steep Driveway
Stayed in Heaven on Earth and the view was awesome! The cabin was clean and well maintained and the hot tub was a great addition. Had a great time here relaxing after long days of hiking! Only one issue, the driveway was quite steep and since we had a car, a bit tricky to go up and down. Probably would not stay here again without an SUV. Not enough to take away a star though as overall it was an excellent stay!
Definitely Heaven On Earth!
The cabin exceeded our expectations, with amazing views and every amenity we needed! The fireplace and spa were wonderful and easy to use. Everything we needed to prepare meals was in the kitchen, and all the linens and towels were easily accessible too. We definitely will go back and enjoy the peace and serenity that is difficult to find anywhere else.
Not Quite Heaven, But Nice Place on Earth
We booked Heaven on Earth for a week in October. With the prospect of looking over changing fall leaves from a mountainside, basking in a hot tub, we were thrilled!
Our initial arrival did not do well to set the 'Heaven' feeling. The house is located down a gated roadway, and the gate code provided in the check-in instructions didn't work. Further, the rental management agency had two phone numbers, daytime and after-hours. However, even the "After Hours Emergencies" phone number is "not available from 10 pm to 7 am." Doesn't that defeat the purpose of an after-hours emergency number? None the less, we couldn't gain access through the gate so we called the number, left a message and.... nothing. About 20 minutes of sitting outside the locked gate in the dark and pouring rain, I eventually found the owner's phone number (provided by VRBO, not the rental agency). I called her, she was friendly, and provided the correct code (which apparently changes fairly often.) I never received a return call for my message to the "after hours emergency" line.
After getting through the gate, it's 1.3 miles of at times very steep 1-lane gravel road with many sharp turns. In the dark and raining, this was a very uncomfortable trek. In an all-wheel-drive vehicle and with plenty of experience on gravel, I was still uncomfortable with the amount of wheel slipping.
We finally arrived at the cabin, and I overall have very positive feelings about the cabin itself. The space was reasonably equipped and comfortable to spend a week. The upstairs sleeping arrangements seemed a bit cramped (two twin beds in an open loft, Queen bed and a futon in a small bedroom). However, we weren't up there so it was a non-issue for our stay.
The very remote location was also very nice, and I don't recall ever seeing a neighbor or another car on the road during our entire week there. A grocery store is nearby and Bryson City is a nice town.
The hot tub was very nice. It's easy to activate the Spa lock accidentally, and the house manual basically says "Call us for help and we'll send an expensive technician to repair it." However, a very easy Google search finds the fix.
Overall, we're pleased and had a great trip. My major concerns are the difficulty of access being under-represented (I would not be comfortable driving a 2 wheel drive sedan to this house), and the uselessness of the after-hours hotline. I'd stay here again if for a lower price next time.
Beautiful home, breathtaking views!
We enjoyed our stay at Heaven on Earth. It's close enough to town (which is really cute), but far enough away to actually feel like you're getting away from everything. The house is nice and spacious with amazing views. It was so relaxing to stare off into the mountains, either by sitting on the deck or soaking in the hot tub. We definitely recommend staying here!
Loved the large windows to view the mountains from the couch or table. Gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains!
