Beautiful cottage in a spectacular location

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this charming cottage located just outside Portree on Skye. The owners were lovely and arrangements prior to arrival went smoothly. The cottage is well located with all you would expect in your own home including fast internet access, television, board games and kitchen supplies. The cottage is located about 10 minutes drive from the main town on Skye so you are close enough to be near shops, petrol stations, etc but remote enough to feel that you are getting away from the busy tourist traps. The sunset view over the Loch is spectacular. We used the cottage as a base to explore walking and photography sites such as the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, Sligchan and the Fairy Pools.

I would certainly return here on future trips and the owners could not have been any more helpful.

Peaceful cottage ideal for exploring Skye

  • 5 of 5

This lovely modernised cottage gave us a wonderful base from which to explore Skye. Only 5 miles from Portree and its many restaurants, the cottage's location is ideal for seeing the upper and central parts of the island, including the spectacular scenery of the Cuillin Mountains and Trotternish. If you like to hike ask the caretakers Maureen and Mike if you borrow some of their Ordinance Survey maps for the area. We hiked every day and found the maps invaluable. You can reach some excellent restaurants. Besides the Rosedale Hotel and Sea Breezes in Portree, you can easily drive to The Three Chimneys (world-class cuisine) and The School House in Dunvegan, If the weather's good, you can walk a few yards down to the main road and see unforgettable sunsets. The cottage is well-equipped and comfortable. Plenty of heat and an open fire if you need it. We plan to return as soon as possible.

Absolutely LOVED it. We were worried about not having a car there but we were right by the bus stop and we had no problems getting around. The house was clean and cozy and after a long day out, it felt like home. Definitely would recommend it and we plan to go back again soon!

Absolutely wonderful!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was so warm & cozy. It was more than we could have ever imagined. The view out the large picture windows is breath taking, We hated to leave in the mornings for our excursions. We enjoyed preparing our meals in the spacious kitchen. The kitchen was equipped with everything that you could need. They even had tea, sugar and spices to offer. The washer and dryer were a very nice asset. The house is located in a very nice location to undertake any excursion on the island. We were very well taken care. Every detail was to the letter. Out of all the places we have stayed in our travels this was definitely the BEST!!!! We would recommend this wonderful house to all our friends and family.

Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here a couple of times and can't recommend it enough. It's a real home from home, you'll not be short of anything you need. The place itself is tranquil and seems to have it's own micro-climate.

Excellent value for money.

No doubt it won't be long before we're booking again.

This traditional croft house, recently modernized and spacious is situated six miles north of Portree, the capital of Skye, which offers many amenities, excellent restaurants and pubs. There are lots to see and do such as mountain biking, kayaking, sea trips, pony trekking or walking/climbing. The Golden Eagle and White- tailed Sea Eagle are found in this locality. The house sits in over a quarter of acre of secure garden and is situated within the Trotternish Peninsula. The famous Trotternish ridge which is one of the finest traverses in the U.K. is in this general area. The Cuillin Range of Mountains which are spectacular and are a mecca for climbers and walkers can be seen most days from the house and are approximately 28kms away. Perhaps you may just enjoy travelling round and taking in the breathtaking scenery. Historically Skye has an interesting past with lots to interest the historian. Similarly its unique landscape is of great interest to geologists.Dinosaur footprints from the biggest ever dinasaurs to roam Britain have been discovered in the north end of the Island In a newspaper travel article Skye was the only Scottish Island to be featured in their guide to ten of the best Great British Islands
