amazing cottage, lovely hosts, great holiday all round!!

  • 5 of 5

Ireland in January might not seem the most appealing choice but sitting by the wood fire in this beautifully converted stable it couldn't have been more cosy and relaxing. This is very comfortable accommodation in a beautiful part of the country (even in the midst of winter). Maggie & Mark are wonderful hosts who really know how to make you feel welcome. Our daughter loved the chickens that came visiting every morning.

A wonderful time all round!

Four star stay!

  • 5 of 5

This is a must stay location for the south east. If you are looking for a first rate country setting with abounding charm and every amenity this is the location for a couple or family. We found the coach house to be so well done and so comfortable we all agreed that we did not want to leave and would stay again in a second. The house is wood and stone throughout and decorated in country rustic. The home is nestled just outside the quaint little village of Inistioge. There is breakfast and evening pubs open but expect to travel 10-15 minutes for dinner. We used this as our base for two days as we ventured out. Killkenny was wonderful and only a 20 minute drive.

The owners are remarkably friendly and you will fill like your visiting with family within minutes.

Can stay enough about this beautiful country setting....extraordinary!

Everything was great- even more than expected!

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean, neat and provided everything we needed. Margaret and her husband were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us plan some outings and provide needed information. He even helped us start our car one morning. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The highlight of our trip!

  • 5 of 5

First time in Ireland - 10 day trip. We live in a big city in the US and wanted to find time to relax in the countryside. We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Mark and Maggie's Carriage House. The countryside was beautiful - Inistioge and nearby Thomastown were quaint and inviting towns. The cottage was absolutely perfect and far exceeded our expectations. The owners have done a FANTASTIC job preserving the historic aspects of the home while making it incredibly comfortable for guests (what a great soaking tub in the master bath!). The hosts were lovely as well and made us feel very welcome and right at home. We will fondly look back at cool November nights by the fire in Inistioge, and will recommend to just about anyone looking for a similar Irish countryside escape.

Wonderful home and great hosts

  • 5 of 5

We have a wonderful time staying in the Coach house. Margaret and Mark were so kind and friendly. They gave us lots of tips as to where to visit. The home is lovely and our friends the chickens would look forward to their treat each day. It was just the two of us, but you could have a family here and it would be plenty big enough.

Mark and Margaret invited us into their home where we talked away the evening they really know how to make a person feel at home.

We will highly recommend this home to many folks. We are looking forward to our return to Ireland and would love to come back here.

Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Beautiful, rustic cottage

  • 4 of 5

Firstly, let me say that Margaret and Mark are some of the nicest people we've ever met! They made us feel at home immediately. The house is a stone cottage that is beautifully decorated but still maintains a rustic charm. It was perfect for us and our two young daughters. The owners have done their best to keep original features, but you have all updated amenities, including a new washer/dryer combo that is fab. Each bed even has an electric blanket to keep you extra warm, should you desire. The house is probably within walking distance to town, but we never had the opportunity to walk it as we were always driving somewhere--it's an easy drive to Kilkenny and other Southeast towns. Inistioge has a lovely river walk and cute cafe in the center. We grabbed coffees and hot chocolate and then walked. Gorgeous. We ended up staying only a couple nights at the cottage due to some unforeseen circumstances. Wish we could have explored the town more. We were set on 'eating' the portion of our weekly rental, however, Mark and Margaret insisted we get the money back. Their kindness and understanding overwhelmed us. Hopefully, our paths will cross again. Tami and Charlie

Inistioge village is located beside the river Nore in the South East of Ireland. The village has a number of pubs and restaurants to choose from. Either side of the village you can take easy walks along the river bank in peaceful countryside. Above the village is the Woodstock demense and House whose gardens have been restored to their former glory, which at one time were considered one of the great gardens of Ireland.

In Thomastown (7Kms) there is the famous Jerpoint Abbey and in Kilkenny (15kms) there is the Castle and Rothe house and a number of churches and Cathedrals.Waterford (44Kms) is only 40mins drive away where there is a museum of local history and buildings of historical interest.

Inistioge is centrally located for easy access to the south coast and sandy beaches and all major towns in the area.
