Historically listed 17th century barn conversion. New in June 2017. One of three in a quiet family run complex . Set in a peaceful location with surrounding fields.

Owl's roost has a fenced in large private back garden with artificial grass for all round use. Also has a patio set and a Keter BBQ table for disposable BBQ'S only.

Downstairs has a cosy and inviting open plan kitchen, diner and lounge, well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, 40" smart TV, microwave and Wifi. The patio doors from this room lead out onto the back garden.

It has 2 bedrooms with en-suites . Each has a TV. The master room is downstairs.

Owl's Roost is at the end of our complex.

Electric, heating, bed linen and towels are included in the price. Guests are requested not to smoke inside the property.

Car parking for 2 cars for this property outside the property.

Hendra Retreat Holidays

Hendra Retreat holiday complex offers a quiet holiday away from passing traffic. Set in rolling countryside it offers peace and tranquillity with modern facilities. It is set in a valley in its own grounds surrounded by green fields and away from everything. It is very peaceful with birds and owl's chirping away with the odd deer and rabbits. We like to think we offer very modern, cosy , spacious, inviting and relaxing accommodation yet within just 10 minutes you can be on the coast walking or surfing.

We are dog friendly and welcome well behaved pets. We have a large field for them.

Our 3 holiday barns are all converted farm buildings.

We have free off road parking for 8 cars right next to your property.

Ours fields are also next to the complex, these are for our guests to roam, children to play football and the dogs to exercise. A lovely view to Roughter (Bodmins most rugged tor) can be seen on a clear day from the top. At night the sky can be loaded with stars. This can be enjoyed with a glass of wine on a rug in the field or in your own private fenced enclosed garden.

We have our own spring water supply that is UV and filtered to British Standards.

Our barns consist of three different properties

Piglet's sleeps 9. Could also have extra put you ups at a charge. This has to be arranged prior to arrival.

3 double bedrooms, one on the entrance level, this has a double and a single, two upstairs, a master with a king size and a double sofa bed and the 3rd room has 2 singles which can zip and link to a super king if requested.

2 bathrooms, one on the entrance level and one upstairs, both have quality Myra mixer showers and walk in cubicles. One has a large bath.

Downstairs to a very large diner/lounge and separate kitchen.

The garden has astro turf, a 6 ft fenced fully enclosed garden, patio furniture and a BBQ table.

Owl's Roost sleeps 4

A twin bed room with an en-suite and a quality walk in myra shower on the entrance level .

Down 8 stairs to a large bathroom with a walk in cubicle and a quality Myra mixer shower adjoining this is the master bedroom with a king size bed.

An open plan kitchen, lounge/diner with patio doors that open onto the garden which has astro turf, 5ft fenced fully enclosed garden, patio furniture and a BBQ table.

Milking Parlour sleeps 4

A large open plan kitchen /diner/lounge on the entrance level .

Downstairs to the bedrooms and bathroom.

The bathroom has a enclosed large cubicle with a quality Myra mixer shower.

The bedrooms are small . A double bed in one room and 2 2ft 6 beds in the other room.

The garden has astro turf, 6ft fenced, fully enclosed garden, patio furniture and a BBQ table.

We have unlimited broadband which usually has a great signal.

All 3 barns at Hendra can be booked individually or grouped together for larger gatherings which makes this the perfect venue for couples, families or large groups of friends.

Hendra Retreat in lovely North Cornwall. Ideal for families and couples. Many local beaches accept dogs all year round.

Trebarwith Strand our local is 5 minutes drive away and is great for families, dogs, surfing or walking the stunning coast path to Tintagel, Bossiney, Boscastle or Port Issac. The Port Willy pub is an ideal place for food with a fantastic view.

Roughter - Bodmins most rugged tor is a 10 minute drive, once there you can walk to Brown Willy.

Trebarwith strand, Bude, Polzeth and Crackington Haven are all patrolled by lifeguards in the peak season.

Historical village of Tintagel renowned for King Arthurs Castle is ten minutes away.

The Camel cycle trail from Bodmin to Padstow via Wadebridge. A great day out . You can hire bikes easily at Wadebridge and is 15 minutes away.

St Nectars Glen an area of outstanding beauty and waterfalls is 10 minutes away.

Bowood golf course is a 2 minute drive.

Bossiney has a lovely coastal walk to Tintagel , Rocky valley and Boscastle.

Port Isaac is 20 minutes away, this is where Doc Martin TV series is filmed. It offers lovely places to eat whether it is fish and chips or a Cornish cream tea and splendid sightseeing.

Rock is 30 minutes by car. Rock offers water skiing and paddle boarding. Here you can catch the ferry to Padstow or walk to Daymar bay (dog friendly) and is good for wind boarding, from here to Polzeth which is great for surfing.

The Eden Project famous for its domes and also holds live music events 45 minutes away.

We are in a perfect location for the whole family to discover Cornwall.

Co-op our local shop is 5 minutes drive

Tesco in Wadebridge is 20 minutes drive

History of the barns

Dating back to 1334 the old quarry barn in the woods on our land housed the Quarry master and the ponies and carts for the old slate stone quarry which supplied all the stone for the farm buildings and houses in Camelford.

Owl's roost, Piglet's and the Milking parlour have been newly renovated in June 2017. Owl's roost twin bedroom use to be storage for the carts and the horses were stabled downstairs. Piglet's historically listed 19th century barn conversion. The dining room and lounge were walled cubicles where the pigs lived. The kitchen was separate and that was used to store the cart. Upstairs was used to store the feed and hay. Milking parlour historically listed 18th century barn conversion. This was where the cows were milked by hand .

About Bridget and Tom

Bridget and Tom welcome you to Hendra Retreat.

Our hobbies have been converting 3 barns. When we need a break we take our kayaks to Port Gavern and relax on the water. We also like to swim and body board at Trebarwith Strand then sit on the rocks with a picnic and a cider watching the sunset. Most weekends we enjoy a live band at our local pubs.

Notes:
We have 3 barns next to each other. There is a communal utility for wetsuits, muddy boots etc and a coin operated tumble dryer. Bed linen and towels are provided in all the barns . Also all electricity and heating is included. Travel cots and highchairs are available on request. If bringing a dog please bring all blankets and a cage if needed. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms or shower. There is an outside tap should you want to wash it.

Fantastic base for a family of 4

Just returned after spending 4 nights at Owls Roost.

It was very well presented and very clean and the scones on arrival were a big bonus.

Lovely converted property on a quiet farm. Shops within 5 min drive. Great base to explore the rest of Cornwall.

Would highly recommend it.

Stunning

Second visit to these wonderful properties and again a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Bridget and Tom are lovely hosts and were also willing to accommodate our new puppy this time. Lovely comfortable beds and luxury of ensuite bathrooms. So cosy and well equipped and pint glasses added since last stay based on previous feedback. Outstanding properties that are perfect for a getaway, true home from homes.
