While this recently redecorated two-storey house can comfortably accommodate groups of up to six people, its design and atmosphere make it the ideal home-from-home for families. The ground floor rooms are open-plan and spacious, occupying around 90m2, consisting of: the office-games room, living-room, and kitchen, with garden-room and double bedroom to the rear which give onto a sunny enclosed garden. The bathroom, with shower and bath, and the separate toilet are also located on the ground floor. A large double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds are situated on the first floor, in the eaves. Particular attention was paid to the organisation of space and light when the house was renovated; while retaining a warm and cozy family atmosphere, it is nonetheless surprisingly spacious and airy. Private parking can be found at the back of the house.
The house is located in La Pallice, next to La Rochelle's Port du Commerce. This is a sleepy yet fascinating quarter with a strong industrial heritage which is currently undergoing some urban regeneration. The local Sunday market is eye-popping in its size, variety and quality and is enormously popular with les Rochelais - and for good reason! The airport, with regular Ryanair flights to Stansted, is less than ten minutes by car. The ring road, connecting to the national motorway network, is only five minutes away. A bus service runs regularly between La Pallice and La Rochelle Centre Ville, a journey which takes around twenty minutes. La Rochelle is not large and has a network of cycle paths by which this historic town can be easily explored; the rather impressive bridge connecting the picturesque Ile de Ré with its beautiful beaches to the mainland is only five minutes away from the house by bicycle.
