Door County Cabin in the Woods, Baileys Harbor

Bedrooms 2
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

Cozy 2 BR/1 Bath authentic log home on 3.5 wooded acres

This lovely Door County cabin is a beautiful home located in the town of Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. It sits on 3-1/2 wooded acres in a secluded, but not remote location. The entire cabin is available to our guests. There are two bedrooms, with very comfortable queen sized beds. The skylight and large windows in the cabin means that the space is always full of sunlight. We have a lovely, huge firepit on the property for your use and there is a flame view propane stove in the living room for those cool evenings. The cabin has central heating and central air conditioning. Two (2) bicycles and two (2) kayaks are available for summer use. We have a company called Mosquito Squad spray the acreage with pet and people friendly spray to keep mosquito and tick populations down -- and our guests tell us that it works very well!

About Karen Berndt

My husband, Carl, and I have lived in Baileys Harbor for over 15 years, and own the restaurant, Harbor Fish Market & Grille in downtown Baileys Harbor. We are always available for advice on sightseeing and love introducing our guests to hidden gems in Door County.

Why Karen Berndt chose Baileys Harbor

It is wonderful to have that total Door County experience, an authentic log cabin on 3.5 acres, just minutes from great restaurants, theater events, music festivals and the parks that Door County is known for! Plus all the water sports and arts to be enjoyed!

What makes this cabin unique

We fell in love with the cabin a few years ago so it was a simple decision to buy it from our friends who had decided to sell. It is the perfect blend of quiet and serenity without being completely remote. The cabin is located only 1 mile from Baileys Harbor, lovely beaches and parks and great bicycling and hiking areas!

Cozy cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with our two kids for a couple days during their spring break and loved it. We wanted a quiet spot to get away and regroup as a family and that's exactly what we got. Our son LOVED the loft space and didn't want to leave. The cabin is nice and cozy with lots of amenities. Karen was wonderful to work with and so very helpful setting things up. We stayed in late March and there was still lots of snow and ice on the ground, but the place was warm and inviting. Not far from the neighbors, but just distant enough to still have a nice quiet secluded feel. Looking forward to staying here again when the weather is warmer!

Owner's Response: It was absolutely a pleasure to have this family join us -- and we are tickled that they loved the cabin as much as we do! We are so hopeful that they will return again! And, they would make great guests for any other owner -- but we hope they only visit with us!

Cozy, Clean and Quaint

  • 4 of 5

Sweet little cabin in the woods. Quiet location and easy to get to either side from it. Very clean; had everything we needed for a weekend away. Perfect for small family or two couples. Spent a nice fall weekend and would highly recommend this cottage if you want a quiet spot to relax and unwind but close to many D.C. Sites.

Perfect Half Marathon weekend retreat

  • 5 of 5

Loved this location for the Door County Half Marathon. Private and quiet yet close to great dining and the Door County Brewing Co. Our dog loved the property too! So cozy and just perfect for the four of us and our great Dane. Thank you!

Lovely Winter Weekend Escape in Door County

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I both celebrated our February birthdays with a winter weekend adventure in Door County. This location was the perfect headquarters for our trip. Secluded, yet not remote, is the perfect description for this location. The neighbors are just close enough so you don't feel isolated, but spaced far enough away so that you feel like it is just the two of you in the cabin. Bailey's Harbor is also just a few minutes drive away, and you are within 15 minutes of other spots on the western side of the penninsula.

The accomodations themselves were perfect for the winter. The real fireplace was a large draw for us, and those staffing this location had it all set up and ready for us when we arrived so that all we had to do was light the fire and we were good to go. There was plenty of wood for us stacked next to the fire (which we used) and even more in the screened in porch if we would have needed this. The fire gave the cabin that extra cosy feeling, and it was very relaxing being able to come back after a long day of exploring, sit down and watch TV (DirectTV satellite) or a movie and relax with the open fire.

For the rest of the cabin, the bedrooms were both very clean and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen has a full refrigerator/freezer, a sink, plenty of counter space, and an oven/stovetop that works perfectly (we cooked something that we brought with there). It almost felt like having your full home kitchen with you, which was terrific.

My wife and I can barely express how enjoyable our stay was at this location, and we hope to come back for a longer stay sometime during the summer in the future. If you do come in the winter, just an FYI that the road back to the cabin may not be fully plowed. On our trip, it snowed 3-4 inches the first night we were there. My SUV was able to handle it, but other cars may not be so lucky. That didn't bother us at all, so we have no complaints

Fantastic experience

  • 5 of 5

This place was great. There was a nice welcome gift when we got there and the fireplace had everything built so all we had to do was light and relax. It was obvious the owner cared and they really did try to think of everything their guests might need.
