Acharavi, Αχαράβη in Greek, is a village north of the island 36 km from the capital Kerkyra or Corfu town from which you have a beautiful view of the Albanian coast. Located between the sea, with a beach of about 4 km, and a lush green and mountainous area, is located between the tourist centers of Kassiopi and Roda. With its 3000 inhabitants, it is a tourist destination particularly suitable for families and couples ideal for those who want to have all the comfort and tranquility of a summer vacation. The center is equipped with all the facilities: post office, bank, supermarket, car and motorbike rentals, emergency medical intervention, restaurants and nightclubs with local folklore shows. In the oldest part of the village, in the direction of Sidari, it is possible to visit the thermal baths of the Roman Baths and a museum of folk art and corfu costume. The golden sandy beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas at cheap prices and surrounded by cafes. Limpid water, with low backs, is safe for children. From this center you can discover the many hidden beaches of Corfu and some picturesque and fascinating traditional Greek villages.
Corfu Island, cosmopolitan, lively, Mediterranean and rich in history, is not only an ideal destination for a beach holiday but it gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in its glorious past and stroll through its unique architecture resulting from the mix of style Venetian, French and English, as well as the Byzantine style of churches.
Capital Kerkyra, included in Unesco's World Heritage Sites since 2007, is a city not to be missed with a labyrinth of cobbled narrow alleyways, called kantounia. The ancient quarter and Spianada Square are worth a visit: their charm will surprise you with the richness of the architecture and the fortress of the sixteenth century will take you back to the Venetian Republic for centuries.
Nearby is Kanoni, 4 kilometers south of the capital, with the famous white bell tower of the Vlachernes monastery, built on an island connected by a bridge; The Achilleion 10 km south of the large Italian style villa built for Princess Sissi with a garden containing majestic statues, such as Achilles.
Details are also the small fishing villages such as Kouloura and Kassiopi in the northeast. The landscape alternates between olive trees and cypresses and vice versa along the narrow streets of the island, and nature is very fascinating with unique coastlines. Do not miss West Paleokastritsa with its intense turquoise sea with many beaches, sandy beaches and pebbles, some accessible only by boat but many equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, near the town where it is magnificent to admire the sunset. Further north are the resorts of Agios Georgios, Agios Stefanos, Peroulades, Sidari, all marine centers. In the south it opens a large salty lake "Korrision" in a protected nature reserve, interesting for aquatic animal lovers. For the lovers of nightlife at the far south of the island you will find the famous Kavos.
A delicious cuisine and a warm but ventilated climate will make your stay unforgettable.
