About Liz Mayatt

Liz and Gary bought Holly Cottage in 2000 after holidaying in Hutton-le-Hole when Liz was a child and wanting to bring her own children to the village that she loved.

Liz Mayatt purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Liz Mayatt chose Yorkshire Moors and Coast

We bought Holly Cottage in January 2000. This was our project for the new millennium! There was a lot of work to be done so we got to work renovating it and managed to complete all the work in 7 months. We then started letting it and have done since July 2000. We holiday ourselves in Holly Cottage as often as possible and still love spending as much time there as possible.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful location overlooking the village and hills. Holly Cottage is even featured on postcards sold in the village. Very spacious and warm - perfect for coming home to after a day exploring.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Just a quick one to say thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely cottage, it’s a fantastic holiday home. Unlike a lot of holiday homes we’ve stayed in, it was very well equipped with kitchen utensils etc and it really felt like home.

Hopefully we will return another time to maybe enjoy it during a different season.

Superb

  • 5 of 5

I booked Holly Cottage for a surprise for my wife's birthday, I wanted it to be really special. We were both blown away with the quality and standard of the property, it was everything we had wished for and more, exceptionally clean, superb quality and amenities, great location. We have both been to North Yorkshire a lot, in fact it's our number 1 place, and Holly Cottage at Hutton Le Hole is at the top of the list.

Hutton is a super place very central to lots of great walks and has a great pub The Crown, where Mein host Jake and his staff will welcome you to his sumptuous pub with roaring fire.

Thanks Liz and family for letting share your gorgeous house.

Quirky cottage

  • 4 of 5

Lovely cottage in a beautiful area. Ample space for 8 people, spotlessly clean & once you get get the hang of the shower in the bathroom there are no complaints. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here & no doubt will be back.

This cottage as got to be one of the best holiday cottages ever . Everything you could possible need and the decor was beautiful . Eight of us stayed here and never seemed on top of each other . Enjoyed local attractions and a meal at the local pub . The weather wasn't good but certainly didn't spoil our stay . We will return . Thank you so much liz .

Fantastic cottage - a real home from home!

  • 5 of 5

We booked Holly Cottage for a week over New Year for a chance to relax after a busy Christmas. The cottage comfortably slept the 7 of us as the four bedrooms are all of a good size. The living room is as cosy as it gets once you close the curtains and get the log fire going. The kitchen is well equipped and the separate dining room is large enough for a big group to dine. The photos really do not do this property justice, it's deceptively big and it has a fantastic location within the village. Situated just to the North of The Crown pub (also recommend!), the cottage is a great base for walks in any direction. We did the walk to Lastingham which was relatively easy going and around 4-5 miles in total, stopping at The Blacksmiths Arms in Lastingham at the half way point. We would absolutely recommend this property and we will in all likelihood stay here again in the summer!
