Why Marla W. Schwenk chose Sag Harbor
This property was handed down through my family to me. Although I have lived in various villages in the Hamptons, Sag Harbor is my favorite because I can walk everywhere and don't need to drive to go the stores, restaurants, movies, the Marina, the park or the Hampton Jitney.
What makes this Cottage unique
This historic house in the village offers a tranquil location minutes from everything. I have carefully renovated the house to keep the historic feeling. Sag Harbor is the most unique of the Hamptons villages.

We enjoyed our stay. Marla’s home is lovely and the location is ideal, walking distance to downtown Sag Harbor. The rooms were very clean, tidy and the bed and linens were comfortable. Check in was easy, Marla met us when we arrived and had suggestions for our stay. Thank you for a great weekend away.
Sag Harbor weekend
Very clean, comfortable and convenient location. I would definitely return.
Our wonderful stay in Skag Harbor
Great, great location, very comfortable and clean lodging and our host, Marla, who ensured our stay was most welcomed.
Charmed cottage in Sag Harbor
Comfy bed, lovely linens, freshly painted and well-cared for. Marla's accommodations are very close, two blocks walk from downtown Sag Harbor where casual dining and great shopping happens. Easy access to other towns in the Hamptons further east. Marla was consummate Hostess offering directions and recommendations for the best things to do in the region.
A Sag Harbor Gem
My fiance and I spent a weekend at Marla's place while in town for a friend's wedding. Marla was very helpful and accommodating before and during our stay. She was quick to help but very respectful of our privacy. Her house is located very close to the downtown area where we walked to all of our meals. The suite is well decorated and comfortable and had all the little amenities you might need (we appreciated the napkins, wine glasses, and mini fridge); we agreed it looks even better in person than in pictures. Marla has done a great job maintaining this home (that was built in 1790!) and honestly it doesn't seem that old at all. It was also very very clean and the bed quite comfortable. We would highly recommend Marla's place for 2 people looking for a clean convient cozy place to stay in the Hamptons.
Quaint, peaceful, perfect proximity to downtown
This was by far the cleanest, most perfectly maintained apartment I’ve stayed in. Sweet beach decor, spic and span bathroom, comfy king bed, plenty of space to move around and feel comfortable. We took frequent walks downtown for breakfast and dinner. A lovely lovely spot.
Thank you so much for your complimentary review! It is wonderful to have guests who feel so comfortable in my guest suite and have enjoyed visiting Sag Harbor.
Sag Harbor was originally the second largest whaling port in the US.
There are many historic attractions a few minutes walk from 84 Jefferson Street. The iconic Sag Harbor Whaling Church is around the block on Union Street. The newly renovated John Jermain Library is 1 block away at the corner of Jefferson & Main St. The Sag Harbor Whaling Museum is across Main Street from the library and the Customs House and Sag Harbor Historic Society are a few steps further toward the Village. Also in the village is the American Hotel Restaurant, Bay Street Theater (year-round live theater and entertainment), and many fine restaurants and shops.
There are 3 wineries on the East End--Wolffer Winery in Sagaponack, Channing Daughters in Bridgehampton, both a 10 minute drive. In Southampton is the Duck Walk, about a 20 minute drive.
Bridgehampton is the site of the world class Hampton Classic Horse Show, a high stakes jumping competition from Sunday, August 26 - Sunday, September 3, 2018. It is the premier social event of the Hamptons summer season.
In addition the Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival "All Docs--All Day" (HT2FF.com) will be on Thursday, November 29 - Monday, December 3, 2018 -- well worth a holiday weekend in Sag Harbor.
And no visit to Sag Harbor is complete without a visit to the Sag Harbor Variety Store--an old fashioned five & dime. on Main Street. If you need it, they've got it!
Also in Bridgehampton, Bridge Gardens Trust--a beautiful, local garden operated by the Peconic Land Trust. Even if you are not a gardener, it is worth a visit to view the 15 acres of historic and local plantings.
The Sag Harbor wharf and public dock are at the end of Main Street. The beaches are world famous for clear water and white sand--Sag Harbor is on Peconic Bay and the Atlantic Ocean is 15 minutes to the south with public beaches for visitors to the area.
The John Drew Theater & Guild Hall is a 15 minute drive to East Hampton--a nationally recognized theater founded by the Drew-Barrymore family. The Hamptons International Film Festival will be held in East Hampton October 4-8, 2018
I have all the information about these and other local attractions waiting for you at the house.
