We recently stayed at Midships in Falmouth and what a gorgeous place and location. The property was spotless on arrival and is furnshised to a high standard! Lovely little touches such as fresh flowers in the rooms and home made scones on arrival too. Would reccoend this property and would to visit again.

Noise

  • 4 of 5

The house is next door to a industrial complex where there was a large boat being loaded with large rocks and it was very noisy from 7am to about 8.30pm all the time we were there. Also there is building works going on very near by the other side of the house which was all noisy.

WOW!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! This property was amazing...with such fabulous views of the estuary! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the flock of swans (25-30) being fed by a man from a neighbouring property each day, the flock would leave mostly in single file to the bank on the opposite side, then return later in the day to be fed again. On the third day we noticed a family of swans; the parents and eight cygnets, it was captivating. If the flock happened to be around when the family arrived, one of the parents would see the others off, and they just left! The parents were so protective, it was incredible privilege to watch. On one occasion we noticed a duck and it's ducklings, but only for a fleeting moment.

We were a group of 5, and found there was plenty of space for us all. The master bedroom really was super...the bed was so comfy, we would like one the same!! It did get rather hot in the property, at that was with the underfloor heating turned off. In the hot weather maybe a fan in the two lower bedrooms would be more comfortable for the guests.

We found the location perfect for sightseeing, and only a short drive in to Falmouth. With plenty of places to eat, in fact spoilt for choice! If you know were you want to have a meal, it is worth booking a table in advance. We did try Rick Stein's in Falmouth, but to be honest, it was it bit over rated in our opinion.

Could not fault Midships, we would definitely recommend. Falmouth really is a great place to stay in Cornwall.

Overlooking boats.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful place to stay with stylish furnishings. The house has one massive master bedroom with wonderful views over the water, and two much smaller doubles, each with their own bathroom.

It is worth mentioning that one is asked to remove shoes on entering the property so although it has underfloor heating it would be advisable to take slippers.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

Midships was a perfect place to stay for us and our grownup children & partners There was parking for 3 cars, so we could have some independence of each other whilst sharing a family holiday. It is within walking distance of Falmouth centre - which has a great range of restaurants pubs and shops for all ages. We got the ferry from Falmouth to St Mawes which is worth doing, there were dolphins in the sea during our crossing. Would definitely recommend a stay here and I am sure we will go again in the future. The only caution would be if you have reduced mobility as there are some internal stairs that have to be negotiated to get to living area and bedrooms.

Location

Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most popular places to visit because of its unique mix of attractions, water sports, beaches, history and place to eat. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle are both high on visitors' lists of places to visit and the views from Pendennis on a fine day are truly magical. Falmouth is the sailing capital of Cornwall with its spectacular deep water natural harbour offering a haven for both cruisers and racers. Many events are held through the summer culminating in the famous Falmouth Regatta Week and associated shore side events. These events are easily reached on foot as Royal Cornwall Yacht Club is 5 minutes down the road, Falmouth High Street is a 10 minute walk away and Events Square is about 15 minutes by foot.

As a university town many events are arranged by the students including annual exhibitions of art and photographic work. There is a Sainsbury supermarket 2 minutes away by car and a large Asda 5 minutes away.

The beaches at Gyllingvase & Swanpool are coarse sand and are wonderfully sunny south facing spots. You can ride the ferry to beautiful St Mawes for the day or take a delightful trip around the estuary stopping off at either Trelissick Gardens or Smugglers Cottage for a cream tea! There are plenty of places to eat & drink in Falmouth and recently Rick Stein has opened his Fish & Chip Restaurant & Oyster Bar at Discovery Quay adding to the superb mix across the town.
