Guestbook comments from the manager

Stayed here for a week with 10 other family members including 4 children. Plenty of room everywhere for us all. Andrew the owner couldn't have done more for us with great communication before, during and after. A lovely clean well presented house made it a fantastic week for all the family to be together. Would very highly recommend this property to any large parties wanting to stay in Brighton.

We stayed here for my friends hen weekend and had a fantastic time - house is perfect for a large group, the garden is a great size for a BBQ, outdoor games etc & location wise only a short drive to the sea front!

Would definitely recommend.

Great house

  • 5 of 5

I picked this house for my hen weekend based on the price and the size of the property, and we was not disappointed. Andrew the host was excellent and made contact very quickly about greeting us at the house etc. He and his wife was very friendly and welcoming upon arrival. Don’t actually think there is one thing I could fault in the house. Plenty of space for our group of 14. It was only a short taxi into the centre. It cost £13-£15 for a 7 seater. What we spent in taxis over the weekend was definitely cheaper than staying more central. Garden was a great little sun spot, especially as we had the best weather. I had my deposit back in my account before I had even got home. 100% would stay here again.

Spacious property in the suburbs of Brighton, dodgy owner

  • 2 of 5

We booked Andrew's house for 20 females for a hen party in Brighton at the end of April.

The house itself is fine- it's massive and definitely more spacious than anything you might find in central Brighton. The location isn't ideal, it's at least a 50 minute walk to the centre so we had to get taxis back and forth at around £12 a journey. This is manageable though and probably worth it for the extra space.

The host, however, was pretty difficult to deal with. The cleaning policy is very strict and not ideal for a short weekend away. There are multiple laminated pages of house rules in most rooms. I got a text from Andrew on the afternoon of our 2nd of 2 nights to remind me that before leaving at 11AM the next morning we would have to strip the beds, clean the microwave and oven, clean the floors and take out the bins. Not the best atmosphere to create for your guests.

On leaving we had a bit of a medical emergency- one of the hens had a miscarriage and eventually ended up in A+E. I called Andrew to ask if we could have an extra hour before checkout and he said no. He then called back to say he could give us an hour and no more. I found this pretty heartless.

The real issue, however, came with trying to get our deposit back. Undoubtedly we did not deserve our full deposit back. We had put up a few pictures and balloons, and a couple had apparently damaged the paintwork. There was also a faulty flush on the toilet in one of the bathrooms, a piece of which went missing. This toilet was not working from the minute we arrived however I stupidly didn't text Andrew to mention it. Subsequently we ended up fitting the bill for a plumber, a paint job as well as a cleaner. He kept half of our deposit but has since refused to provide proof of the costs he has incurred. I am perfectly willing to pay for any damages, however only where receipts are provided.

I would advise any big groups to avoid this property. Airbnb is a much safer option as it offers some deposit protection and has a much more explicit cleaning policy.

Simple and Straight forward

  • 5 of 5

Booking a place to stay for a large single sex group is not the easiest task but dealing both with Home and Away and Andrew was very easy and straight forward. In every step of the process I was told what was going to happen and what to do. Andrew was easy to communicate with and was there to greet me on time when I arrived. The house was clean and tidy. The Wi-Fi actually worked (I have been to other places where this is not the case) and the kitchen had all the things we needed. The beds were made and comfortable and the central heating easy to use. The house is only 15 mins in cab from central Brighton.

I would recommend this house highly to anyone organising a reunion/pre wedding trip.

Fantastic house in an ideal location for our stay

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house for my brothers stag weekend away in Brighton for 9 lads. Andrew the owner was brilliant throughout our booking from start to finish. The house was perfect for our stay with a spacious living area and superb kitchen/dinner area with everything we needed. Each of the bedrooms were clean and tidy with everyone having their own bed for the weekend. The house is about 5-10 minute drive to the city centre and will cost approximately £8-£12 for a taxi. Would highly recommend staying here for trip away to Brighton whatever the occasion.

Fantastic property.

  • 5 of 5

Spent the weekend on a hen party here, 20 of us and the property was plenty big enough. Every one had there own space. The owner was very helpful . It wasn't hard to get into Brighton there is a bus stop just up the road and it takes you straight into the town. All in all we had the best weekend ever.
