About this property

Experience the romance of a BARN. "DO YOU THINK YOU LIVE IN A BARN"YES!!

Enjoy my restored 1849 barn at the end of a secluded road. (it's a 240-acre farm). Remote, quiet location with a 3-acre backyard, firepit included. This isolated location still allows easy access to your college and Columbus destinations. Come back to the barn, snuggle up, build a fire, cook a meal, listen to coyotes, and see stars that are invisible in any metropolitan area. It is pure country air. So remote, yet 18 miles from all the new developments with Facebook,Intel, Google,Amazon.
This property has been in my family for four generations. Interesting note; Homer, Ohio is the home of the first woman to run for president, Victoria Woodhull, her running mate was Frederick Douglas(who didn't vote for her, btw!) in 1878. She is a relative of the initial owners, my great-grandparents. Check her story out!

First-floor bedroom, second-floor bedroom, second-floor bathroom with bathtub, shower, and sauna. Perfect for college parents' weekends @ Mount Vernon Nazarene, Denison, Kenyon, or Ohio State. 23 minutes driving to Kenyon College- 15.8 miles. It is 14 minutes to Denison- -14.8 miles and 44 minutes to Ohio State- 39.3 miles. It is approx. 45 minutes to Polaris Parkway, beginning of Columbus, mecca of shopping and restaurants. 40 minutes to Easton Town Centre.(another side of Columbus). About one hour to Amish Country. (Mount Hope) Ideal just as a retreat for the week or weekend. Sleep at least nine in total. Two in the private master bedroom(queen) and two in the private bedroom upstairs. (queen), lots of extra pillows ranging from soft to hard, both big and small. Master with private outdoor access and bathroom. Patio doors provide beautiful outside sounds and a breeze! We just installed a 24,000 BTU mini split in the living room. Although there is propane heat, those areas tend to be tough to heat and cool(30-foot ceilings)You should be warm or cool, no matter the temperature. The unit was just put in Oct,24, so hopefully the heat and cooling issue in the big area is solved. Only time will tell The pellet stove provides a visible fire while heating and the brick fireplace is beautiful. I have a board covering the fireplace to keep the heat from escaping when not in use. Just remove the board and enjoy a fire. In mild weather, nothing's better than opening the French doors and listening to the sounds of nature, silence, and a crackling fire in the backyard fire pit! When remodeling the barn; we tried to maintain the original structure's integrity. The stalls were removed for the custom kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom. The cows were housed in the now-remodeled first-floor bedroom with a bathroom. The milkroom is now the laundry room. It has its own toilet and shower. It also has a separate entrance for dirty hikers, explorers, hunters, or even dogs to shower. Upstairs, what were haylofts, are now bedrooms and a game room. The kitchen is fully equipped with three coffee makers, one for ground, a French press, and one for the whole bean. There are. plenty of ground beans and packets of ground coffee for your use. SS newer LG appliances, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, instant pot, air fryer, toaster, spices, condiments, you and sugar. Bring your own bottled water, coffee creamer, and groceries. Granite countertops, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator. No ice maker in fridge. There is Caraway and Cuisinart cookware. The reverse osmosis water filtration faucet is next to the farmhouse sink. Garbage disposal is a push-button control in the granite. Four bathrooms, central propane, and 24,000 BTU mini split heating. Central air cooling installed Feb. 2019. Six ceiling fans, USE FANS TO DRAW HEAT DOWN> 30-foot ceiling. 50,000 BTU pellet stove, Senville mini split artic heat, and the cool unit are in the main living area and a wood-burning fireplace. Today we installed Starlink Satellite, so you may stream to your heart's content. The upstairs television should also access Starlink but we have not messed with it yet. Feel free to use it. All the games are now in the old trunk under that tv in the game room.
The third bathroom on the first floor is in the mudroom. The toilet seat was broken for that bathroom, it will be fixed soon. This is an original barn. I've fought hurdles to make the barn a one-of-a-kind luxury experience in the middle of farm country. Having said that, Intel is beginning to start its chip factory ten minutes away. My guess is this remote location will be seeing a lot of changes!
There is pretty pure water, but we bring water to drink. There is a Reverse Osmosis silver faucet next to the sink. We do drink from there and use it for coffee.

I use a walker, the barn is handicap accessible. just one step into the barn, first-floor master, and bench and grab bars into the main bathrooms. The doors and hall are not wide enough for a wide wheelchair, but speaking from experience, it works with a walker—no need for steps. The walker stays at the barn in the first floor bedroom closet; if you need it.
It is treated for bugs every quarter, but, there very well may be some! The bugs are usually found on window sills dead daily after these treatments. I can’t do anything about that. It is cleaned on Sundays or Mondays, all bugs are swept up.That doesn’t mean you won’t find them in those few days it was empty. I made the choice better dead than flying around! So be aware, spring and fall is the worst for dead bugs. If you’re in and out a lot during the summer flies, will certainly get in the screen doors. This was not a purchased kit to mimic a barn. If I had done that, it wouldn’t be old and authentic, but I’ll bet I wouldn’t of had this bug problem! Wood beams, built with pegs rather than nails, mantle, and structure are the REAL deal. There are dogs, roosters, cows, and chickens across the lane! There are wetlands on the opposite with fowl, plenty of turkey and deer. Covid helped the coyote population, they are howling every night. I love to hear them, but, if you have a dog, DO NOT LET HIM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT! They may seem friendly, but they are not.

There is a four-burner propane Weber grill on the deck. Please make sure the propane is turned off totally and the grill is cleaned and covered after use. AVAILABLE. There is a fire pit outside, too. I provide one fire but please leave 1.00 per log if you use the fireplace and firepit more than once. Unfortunately, the rising cost of propane, electricity, firewood, pellets, towels, bedding, and paper products make it impossible to host without asking my guests to be aware of the struggles of hosting without losing money! So, I thank you for understanding the need to leave money for additional usage! No question is dumb and I welcome the opportunity to provide a unique, one-of-a-kind, intimate trip away from home! Thanks for looking.

The perfect place for a memorable experience
This gem located in the heart of Ohio will leave you speechless. Leslie has thought of everything and the attention to detail is something that truly sets this stay apart from others. From a fully equipped luxury kitchen with a grill outside, to the sauna and a bathtub fit for a king (or queen)...to the cozy feel you get from a fire burning in the fireplace as you lounge on the comfiest couch sharing time with friends and loved ones...this is a place perfect for making lasting memories. Leslie was extremely responsive, understanding of our circumstances leading up to the stay, and did everything you could ask of a host. We are extremely grateful to have found this special stay and to have had an exemplary host such as Leslie.

Hidden gem
We did a fabulous girls weekend here. It’s a wonderful barn. If I had one complaint, it would be the spiral staircase to the second level. It makes it very challenging to carry a suitcase up, and the steeps are also very slippery. I would also note that the two twin beds are in a loft which if you’re going with family members it is open to down below and if you’re using it for children, it will be too noisy for them if you stay awake after they go to bed early

Country Getaway
Enjoyed the unique renovated barn setting. Perfect for our weekend family wedding nearby. Could have used better outside furniture on porch. A little too much of the owners stuff in the house. The coffee machine was nice and very cozy.

Decided to convert an old barn into a home. it is a romantic, quiet beautiful getaway. I hope you enjoy the get away as much as I do. We do use this, so please treat this as you would your own home! It is more a home than a motel! When we did the renovation, we saved old barn siding from the hayloft and chicken area. We sealed these, and you can see faint calculations and dates on them keeping track of their egg? sales of the day!!!
