Perfect in every way
This was our second return visit and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked again.
As a music production partnership, our requirements for a weekend stay are a little different to those of most, however as a central location for the two of us to meet its ideal. Given the fact we need space to set up computers, mixing desks, instruments and speakers, we look for somewhere with space and comfort and a good internet connection. This property could not be better for us.
Ideally located only a 5 minute walk from Melrose centre and a short 10 minute drive to Galashiels, everything we could need is on the doorstep.
The house is always lovely, well prepared, clean and welcoming. The added item in the welcome pack of doughnuts was fantastic and really hit the spot with a well earned cuppa from the complimentary tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc. Thanks again for allowing us to stay in your house, and we are already looking forward to coming back in February!
Fantastic, tranquil property in idyllic surroundings.
We enjoyed another long weekend at Alwyn. The property is very clean with everything you need. As a family of four we especially love the lounge where we can all relax after a game of tennis or brisk walk.
Alwyn is set in a quiet setting which is a plus for us. We also don’t need to drive as Melrose/Gattonside are within walking distance.
We very much look forward to returning.
A good base to discover the Border region.
A spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean cottage in a lovely position in Melrose. Walks along the River Tweed a few yards away from the property. It was also only a short walk into the centre of Melrose. I hope to visit again in the future.
Very clean and cosy
Lovely little cottage, would highly recommend
A lovely week spent in this cottage
We enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable cottage It was spotlessly clean and well equipped The area was so peaceful and convenient to Melrose. We really enjoyed the walks in the surrounding district . There was plenty of wildlife birds, rabbits and even a weasel chasing the rabbits in the garden.
Spacious, clean and tidy.
Spacious, clean and tidy. Well fenced off to keep the dogs safe and the car secure on the drive. Linen and towels provided with a good sized bath/shower. Although the bath was high sided and not practical for anyone short or inform.
An ideal base for exploring all the Scottish Borders has to offers including the Abbeys of Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso, and Jedburgh. The home of Sir Walter Scott, Abbotsford House, is within
2 miles. Beautiful scenery and walks, including the Eildons, the Southern upland Way and St Cuthbert's Way are on the doorstep. The River Tweed is a popular fishing destination. Melrose is the home of Rugby Sevens and the famous Sevens Tournament takes place in April. The Borders Book Festival is held at Harmony House in June. The Borders Railway operates a direct service every 30 mins to Edinburgh, providing easy access to the City and its attractions - not to mention the famous Festival in August and Hogmany celebrations.
