Guestbook comments from the manager

We spent 6 days here in September 2016, we found that the cottage had everything we needed. It was in a great location to get around Cornwall, although we never spent a great deal of time in the cottage it was always a nice place to come back to. The amount of literature in the cottage for things to do was a great help. It was so good we are booking up again for next year.

Beautifully presented, very comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

It was a hot week in the Padstow area but the flagstone floored dining room was always beautifully cool. The living room was so cosy and we felt so at home relaxing there in the evening. The bedrooms were also very welcoming with excellent beds and linens. A great base for the area and highly recommended.

A great base to see the best of Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

The little cottage was warm and cosy and for a couple so much room. The historic town of St Columb Major has parking issues and as the little cottage does not have private parking it could be a problem. As we were out every day the parking of 2 hours max in the street out front (9-6) was not an issue. The little cottage was clean and tidy and had a lovely warm feel to it. I would highly recommend staying here. St Columb Major is the best place to stay to see the whole of Cornwall

Owner's Response: We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay in our cottage. With respect to the parking, if you can’t find a place on the road outside the cottage, there are three car parks within a five minute walk. The nearest is 50 meters around the corner (literally a one minute walk). The furthest car park is no more than a 5 minute walk away and is free 24 hours a day. We feel we should point out that, although you have described the cottage as “little”, it is in fact a good sized 3 bedroom cottage :) with ample room for a family. Having lived in Australia ourselves we do appreciate that houses there are often considerably bigger than in the UK. Thank you for your feedback and we hope you’ve enjoyed the remainder of your stay in the UK.

Perfect location for short break with family

  • 4 of 5

My family enjoyed our 5 day short break in this warm cosy cottage which had everything we required . Comfy beds, linen and towels provided and fully equippped kitchen with extras like board games, dvds and excellent wifi for our 2 young adult children. It was lovely to return from the beaches and settled in for a cosy evening with tv or scrabble.

We would recommend this cottage and stay here again as it's an ideal location for surfing beaches and picturesque harbours and the lost gardens of Heligan.

Wonderful cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was a fabulous base for a great family holiday. The bedrooms were a decent size and the living room was just what we needed. The kitchen had everything we requiredfor our family of three, although there is plenty for larger parties. The bath was a massive bonus, our 2 year old daughter particularly loved it. Very clean and user friendly, I would be very happy to recommend the cottage to friends and family.

Wohlfühl-Ferienhaus

  • 5 of 5

Car: recommended

Kerenza Cottage is in the heart of the pretty Cornish town of St Columb Major. There are a variety of shops, pubs and a little tea/coffee shop. The Co-op is a well stocked supermarket, a few minutes walk away. The town also has two excellent butchers. There are many public footpaths leading into the surrounding countryside and out towards the coast. For those who love to ramble, there is a beautiful walk through the woods, towards St Mawgan (great pub there to rest in) before continuing on to Mawgan Porth beach. The walk takes about an hour and a half in total.

In St Columb Major there is a large playing field and a great playground for children. The church is impressive and stands overlooking the town.

The fishing harbour of Padstow is 16.7 km away (15 to 20 minutes by car). Padstow is home to many excellent fish restaurants owned by Rick Stein. His fish and chips, eaten on the harbour wall after a hard day on the beach are a must and a perfect way to round off a happy day!

Watergate Bay (9.3 km / 12 minutes by car) is great for surfing and has good bars and restaurants (including Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant). Watergate Bay Hotel has a fantastic bistro for evening meals. Sitting on their terrace offers fantastic views out across the bay.

Wadebridge (10.8km / 14 minutes by car) has fantastic nightlife, shopping and surfing

Wadebridge (15.5 km / 16 minutes by car) - picturesque market town with interesting shops and famous for the Camel Trail to Padstow or Bodmin. Bicycle hire is available at the start of the Camel Trail

Eden Project (20.4 km / 21 minutes by car) - popular visitor attraction. The large "biomes" that are found here contain plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments around the world. Well worth a visit!

The Lost Gardens of Heligan (26.6 km / 30 minutes by car) near Mevagissey, are one of the most popular botanical gardens in the UK

Mevagissey (28.2 km / 34 minutes by car) boasts a working harbour, with a few dozen small fishing boats. Very quaint fishing harbour.

Fowey (30 km / 35 minutes by car) this small town on the south coast is on the mouth of the river Fowey and is popular for boating and sailing. You can take a ferry from here to Mevagissey during the summer months.
