A great location for exploring both Devon and Cornwall.
About Amanda Southam
Married to Stu. Love travel, cooking (especially baking), wildlife and fab scenery. We are lucky to have all of this in the beautiful Tamar Valley. Have been all over the world - Australia, New Zealand, Galapagos, Iceland, etc., but there are so many more places to visit - and not enough time!! We are courteous guests and hosts. We are respectful of other peoples homes and the privacy they may want when they visit ours. We are quiet types but friendly - we think! Life's too short - get out and enjoy it - especially in the South West!

Pleasant stay in beautiful area
Our stay at Amanda's was really great. She is very friendly and accommodating. The apartment is attached to the house, incredibly clean and simply furnished. The local pub is at a walking distance and the Tamar valley itself is of course beautiful. The property is walking distance from the National Trust property Cotehele, which we visited on a sunny day. The walk is a good distance and Cotehele is beautiful and a definite recommend. On the way back, we picked blackberries in the forest and made ourselves a small pot of jam in the kitchen the next morning. All in all a great stay!
Thank you Donna and Niels for your very kind review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in our lovely area! Please come and visit us again sometime.

Lovely annexes with own entrance. Amanda was very welcoming. Would highly recommend.
Amanda and Stu’s perfect apartment was well appointed with all that one would need for a comfortable stay and a great place to have as your base for exploring Cornwall and Devon. From the kindness of giving 2 weary travellers some staples when we arrived late on a Sunday evening to providing us with a wealth of information about the area. Would highly recommend for a long or short term stay.
Many thanks Ken and Trish for you kind review. You would be welcome back at any time in the future! Best wishes, Amanda and Stu
Perfect place to stay
This is a beautiful property. It’s compact but cleverly designed and provided everything we needed. Our hosts had provided lots of thoughtful little touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The location was lovely too; picturesque little village with a friendly pub, surrounded by the gorgeous Cornish countryside. We will definitely be back!
Many thanks Cheryl and Simon for your kind review. It is really welcome! We look forward to your stay with us again in the future. With best wishes, Amanda and Stu
Lower Metherell is a friendly little village with a 15th Century country pub just 5 mins walk away from our home. Other pubs, a village shop and medieval church are nearby in Harrowbarrow and St Dominick.
If you fancy leaving the car behind the Tamar Valley railway line is a scenic route between Plymouth and Gunnislake, (less then 3 miles from our home). There are also local buses operating between the various villages to Tavistock.
