Tordera is a Catalan town with a river flowing through it and with the Romanesque Church of Saint Stephen situated in the town centre.
Located within approximately 64km of Barcelona and 36km of Girona on the edge of the Montnegre Natural Park and on the divide between the province of Barcelona and the Costa Brava.
From the property there are stunning views of Montseny, the highest mountain range south of the Pyrenees. Whether it is summer or winter this view is something special to behold.
Within approximately 8 kilometres is the crystal blue sea of the Mediterranean whilst being close to some large areas of natural beauty. Within a short drive away are some of the regions most picturesque towns and numerous immaculate sandy beaches.
The closest beach is approximately 15-20 minutes away in Blanes, where you will be able to enjoy more than four kilometres of sandy coastline. Blanes offers a number of restaurants and nightspots, as well as host of activities by day. There is a marina here where you can hire a boat to explore the rocky coastline, or you can even go snorkeling and diving. At Playa Sabanell there is a company that organizes boat excursions to various beaches in the area.
Blanes is home to the Castle of Sant Joan, which dates back to the 12th Century. At this landmark you can admire spectacular views of the coast, while inland is the Canon of Santa Maria Roca-rossa, a monastery, which was built in the 1100s. An attraction not to be missed is the Marimutra botanic garden with its spectacular views.
If you prefer to explore the stunning inland scenery close to Tordera, then head for the Montnegre Corredor Natural Park, which features a long stretch of the Catalonian coastal mountain range. It is a perfect place to enjoy a long walk, along which you will encounter cork, pine, and oak forests. Hortsavinya is a delightful medieval hermitage, nestled in this landscape.
The city of Girona is only half an hour north of Tordera. This beautiful city is known for its large medieval old town, enclosed by defensive walls and home to numerous historic buildings, as well as one of the largest Jewish quarters in Spain. The main sights here include the old town walls, the 14th Century Gothic Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu and the Romanesque Sant Pere de Galligants.
In Tordera you can expect beach weather from spring to late autumn. In July and August temperatures usually exceed 30 degrees and almost no rainfall at this time of the year. Winters here are mostly mild, with a little more rain, but plenty of sunny days as well.
