Duplex flat with equally sized double rooms on different floors & separate bathrooms. Great for sharing couples and families, as private and individual. Living room has high ceilings and is a good size to accommodate everyone at the same time & includes a dining area too. Fully equipped kitchen for cooking. Property is situated in a cul-de-sac, so its very quiet, as no passing people or traffic, but still 2 mins walk away from the main road and nearest tube.
I'm Sri Lankan and have been living in the Notting Hill area for over 10 years and think it is one of the most vibrant places to live in the world. The only things missing is the beach, palm trees and sometimes the weather.. but I guess I can just go home for that!
I love good food, eating out, meeting new people and chilling with friends and family. One of my favourite past times is having BBQs, especially if I am the cook.
I spend a lot of time travelling and learning about different cultures. One of my favourite places to visit is Norway where my sister and family live.
I look forward to welcoming guests and rest assured you will have not only have a comfortable stay but a host with all the local knowledge and special passes for bars, restaurants and tourist attractions.
Absolutely perfect location, just a block from Bayswater Road. Restaurants, pubs and a bakery close by. Very comfortable living area and a nice kitchen area also.
We had 4 adults staying here. Everything went well. The floors and carpets are quite worn, but other reviews mentioned that so it was expected. The linens were clean, 2 queen size beds fairly comfortable, and the kitchen was a great size. Very close to the tube. There is a bakery right around the corner that was lovely. The owner recommended a delicious Indian restaurant about a 15 min walk away. The shower downstairs was tiny, but it was fine. We would stay here again.
Right between Notting Hill and Queensway--yet on a cul-de-sac, so no traffic noise at all--you cannot beat the location of this flat! Hundreds of restaurants and shop in walking distance. The bus stop to Piccadilly Circus (#94) is around the corner. (Going the other direction, it goes to Shepard's Bush shopping Center.)
Priyan de Mel was so responsive to any and all questions we had before arriving and on the day of arrival. No one could have been more helpful and accommodating--even letting us check-in early.
IMPORTANT THINGS:
The flat itself has tons of room, with lots of closet and drawer space for all your clothes. (There was even a utility closet to store the suitcases during our stay.)
The queen-size beds (they may be kings in the UK but in the US they would be queens) were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows and a warm, comfy duvet. The heating was excellent and hot water plentiful--even after 4 showers. There is also a lift, which we only used to bring our suitcases up and down, but it was there if you needed it.
The living room was spacious and bright, with that big bay window in the front. We really enjoyed gathering around the table for breakfast every morning and watching the workman across the street. (They only worked during the weekdays, so weekends and evenings were very quiet. In fact, they didn't make much noise even when they were there.)
The flat is equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly want or need, and lots of mirrors too! All the big things, like TV, DVD, WiFi, dishwasher, clothes washer, microwave, hairdryers, toaster and the all-important tea kettle... down to the little things like corkscrews, wooden spoons, champagne flutes and soap, shampoo and conditioner and big, fluffy towels in the baths.
Not-so important things:
That said, the flat could use some renovation (new carpeting and a new sofa would be an improvement). We did not find this to be a problem considering all the great features this flat offered and of course, the PERFECT location and an outstanding host.
We found this flat on VRBO and have rented many properties on that site. It appeared to have everything we might need or want. So, even after reading several reviews that gave it a less than glowing report, we thought most of the issues seemed minor and we could co-exist with those issues. We soon discovered that most reviewers were being kind. The location is really super. A quiet street just a very short distance from the Notting Hill Station tube stop and just down the street from Portobello Market and Kensington Palace. The flat number we were given was incorrect and caused some concern on arrival. The flat is located on the 2nd floor. Currently it looks out on construction across the street. We were met by a nice young lady who was very accommodating. We had just had an experience in Paris where it was so hot we couldn't sleep and needed fans so we immediately asked if she could find us a fan or two. She did.
As we looked around the apartment we discovered all of the things mentioned in other reviews and more. Let me begin by saying here that this unit has great potential and we have no axe to grind but the unit is in great need of some TLC (tender loving care). The carpet must be replaced soon, it is at the unacceptable level. When you walk from the hall into the living room your feet discover a hole beneath the carpet. The floor from the hall to the bedroom squeaks so loudly that you will wake up your partner if you need to use the toilet in the middle of the night. The sofa sags so badly that no one wants to sit on it. The side chair is stained. There is a mat in the kitchen that is there to cover the broken and missing tile and the mat is curled so bad on one end that one tends to trip on it. The downstairs bath toilet seat is not totally connected and there was no paper on the toilet paper roll. We couldn't figure out how to put the toilet paper on either and even if we could have, the paper holder was coming out of the wall. The shower on the lower bath is too small for most human beings to use.
There is a shortage of cookware and eating utensils. Only 3 small lunch plates. Do not plan on eating in the kitchen – the eating area is micro. Some of the blinds are broken and work poorly.
Finally, as we were getting ready to pack and leave the wooden front on the refrigerator fell off.
We honestly think we paid way too much money for this experience. Next time we will pay more attention to the reviews,
This flat was a great base for exploring London, the tube station was only 5 minutes away and loads of local shops and restaurants near by. We visited Portobello road market which was 10 minute walk away and the tube being so close we could just pop back to change for a night out after going out all day sightseeing. We would be happy to stop there again if we are in London again.
Quiet street, across from Kensington Garden and Palace. Owner is very responsive and helpful.
