About the property

Sea views, next to the beach, 3 beds, 2 baths, heated outdoor pool, sleeps 7

Innisfree House is a VisitWales 5 star property, in an enviable beachfront position in the beautiful, unspoilt village of Llansteffan, in the heart of Dylan Thomas country. The largest house in a small complex with a shared, outdoor heated pool, Innisfree has an entrance and WC on the ground floor with stairs rising to the living room with 32' balcony / huge kitchen diner / utility / study-games room on the 1st floor (there is also a WC on this floor). A second staircase brings you to 3 bedrooms (all with sea views), ensuite wet room, bathroom with bath & shower, separate WC. Bedroom 3 can be either a twin room (2 x 3' beds) or a super-king, 6' wide bed. Bedroom 2 has 2 single beds, the Master bedroom has a king size bed and also an extra single bed under the eaves. Travel cot with bassinette & highchair available on request. The study incorporates a Smart TV and blu-ray and a Wii playstation complete with a selection of games and DVDs. You will also find a large box of Duplo, a large Duplo trainset, various other toys and a selection of classic boardgames and some jigsaws, for wet weather days. On the balcony are 2 full length sun loungers (stored away in winter), a table and 4 chairs. There are 4 folding beach chairs available to take into the garden or onto the beach. Towels, linen, teatowels, handwash and washing up liquid and a generous start-up set of toilet paper are all provided. The kitchen contains a fanned electric oven and quick-heat ceramic hob, a microwave, large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, small hand blender and cake-mixer (+ everything you could possibly need for cooking). In the utility room is a washing machine, steam iron and ironing board (coin-operated tumble dryer in the grounds). All 3 bedrooms have their own hairdryer. You only need to bring beach/pool towels and cot linen if required. BT superfast infinity broadband Wifi is provided free of charge, along with a colour printer / scanner. The house is particularly spacious and is in a prime spot directly overlooking the beach. The road is quiet with no through traffic but cars drift in and out of the free beach car park opposite. There's a tea shop about 5 doors down, a seasonal fish and chip shop across the car park (locals regularly drive several miles for their delicious offerings) and an ice-cream stall. The pool is shared between a handful of holiday rental properties. Gas and electricity are included. A highchair and travel cot are available on request. The swimming pool is open from 9am until 7pm from Whitsun (May 26th) until 8th September. Sorry, but no pets allowed and this property is non-smoking.

A large Tesco extra store is located in Carmarthen 7 miles away, along with many other major retail stores (M&S, Debenhams, Next etc). will deliver online shopping to the property if booked in advance.

About Sarah Ganczarski

Hi, I'm Sarah and together with my husband Clive and two teenage sons we bought this dream holiday home in 2017 and have now completely refurbished it. We live in Cheshire, near Manchester, where I grew up. Clive & I both used to live and work in London. I used to be a literary agent, Clive is an engineer turned manager / safety consultant. Our sons are 17 and 14. We love to travel and also own a motorhome. Skiing, cycling, walking are activities we enjoy, as well as music, good movies and sitting on the balcony watching the sun set over the sea in Llansteffan.

Why Sarah Ganczarski chose Llansteffan

We stayed here at Innisfree House for two weeks in 2013 with my parents and had the most wonderful time so when the chance came to buy this property we jumped at it. This place is quiet, quirky and charming. There is always something interesting to watch from the living room as the sea is constantly changing with the tides. We enjoyed visiting the National Botanic Gardens and also Laugharne Castle and Dylan Thomas's boathouse. Everyone here is very friendly and relaxed and welcoming. The pool in summer is great fun for the kids and first thing in the morning when the covers are rolled back is the perfect time for a quiet swim for the grown-ups.

What makes this house unique

At Innisfree House we can relax and unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life. A short walk up to the local shop for essentials; a ramble up the hill to explore the castle; an ice-cream from the tea shop; queuing for the delightful fish and chips when we don't feel like cooking; eating at one of the pubs up in the village, a short stroll up the hill. We also like to walk round the coastal path for the views, maybe watch a heron fishing in the shallows or make some beach art with pebbles and shells.

Excellence redefined

  • 5 of 5

We spent just four days in this property with our son and his young family in mid-June.

The first impression of Innisfree House was "What a stunning property and location!"

The view from the front of the property is of the miles of sand of the Towy estuary, and as the house comprised first and second floors, the views were always unobstructed at any time of the day or night!

The house was superbly appointed throughout - two bathrooms and two additional toilets - and included a study room containing many boxes of children's toys and space in which they could safely play.

The communal swimming pool was a great hit with the Small People,(and their parents) and as the weather was extremely kind to us, much use was made of the facility.

The nice touches included kitchen cuoboards stocked with many staple items left by previous guests, all manner of kitchen equipment in excellent condition, and plenty of toilet paper!

All the things that make a holiday great are there at Llansteffan - shop, tearoom, cafe, restaurant, pubs, beach-side fish & chips (and other snacks) and ice creams. Carmarthen is but a 15 minute drive for a greater choice of amenities.

A wonderful place to holiday and relax in superb surroundings. We would certainly love to return for a longer stay!

There is a very useful village shop / deli / cafe just a few minutes walk up the hill, and on Friday and Saturdays they are open for dinner as a licensed restaurant. Two good pubs: The Inn at the Sticks and The Castle (next door to each other) are even closer. The coastal path can be accessed about 100m away. Carmarthen has a multi-screen cinema and many good shops (Debenhams, M&S, Next) and an indoor swimming pool for wet weather days. The National Botanic Gardens of Wales are stunning and only about 25 minutes drive miles). There are many activities on offer in the area for kids of all ages. The Castle in Llansteffan is free to enter and has stunning views. Dylan Thomas's home of Laugharne is 25 mins drive.
