Swimming: Kids will enjoy the choice of pools; the summer communal pool and water slide in Bourg dosians. A great indoor pool at Vaujany with lane swimming, water slide, kids pool and spa area, or the open air and indoor pools in Alpe d'Huez. About Sue or Jamie

We are a family with a teenage daughter, originally from the outskirts of London. We moved to France in 2009, to give our daughter a chance to become bilingual and to enjoy the mountains, scenery and 2 wonderful seasons for ski and summer cycling.

Sue or Jamie purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Sue or Jamie chose Alpe d'Huez area

We had already fallen in love with Bourg d'Oisans and have a family home here.

We fell in love with this apartment when it was being built, and found it light and airy and full of character.

What makes this apartment unique

We have furnished this apartment with good quality furniture and to a high standard of comfort. We provide cleaning products and plenty of kitchen utensils to give our guests a home from home experience.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Well worth the long drive to get here. Apartment was far more than necessary to meet our holiday needs - didn't touch the oven once!. Wifi very useful and worked well with iPad, laptops and iPhone. Enjoyed the peaceful, scenic setting, yet close proximity to the village. Delighted to discover we could sleep with our windows open (very hot weather) without being eaten alive by beasties. Fantastic base for cyclists. Thanks.

Great apartment, fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

We booked this apartment for 4 of us to cycle the surrounding mountains and beyond. The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed, comfy beds, modern utilities, great views too!

Booking was simple and Sue the owner was very helpful, couldn't be easier!

The location is down a narrow lane just off the main island outside of Bourg on the road leading up to Alpe d'Huez which means you are a short walk into the main village for the numerous cafe's, shops and restaurants and also straight out onto the main routes around the area. There is also a large garage for storing bikes which was ideal. The wifi was a brilliant thing to have too, very handy!!

In short i wouldn't hesitate to stay again and hope to next year.

Thanks very much.

Lovely apartment, great location.

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed at the apartment during the Tour de France week in the Alps.

The property itself if modern, clean, spacious, and has all the facilities you need for a weeks stay. The balcony looks out onto the snow capped peaks surrounding Bourg which is a great setting for an evening dinner. Despite being very close to the main road up Alpe d'Huez you'd have no idea it was there as the trees block out the road and absorb the sound of any vehicles. Bourg d'Oisans is also within walking distance and has plenty of choices for eating out.

We were in Bourg primarily for the Tour and you really can't beat the location for a stage on Alpe d'Huez. You are literally 2 minutes from the foot of the mountain.

If you want to stay in Bourg you would be doing very well to find better at a similar price. It would be the first place we look for if we return to Bourg d'Oisans

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

What a great place to stay! Just spent a week at the apartment to ski at Alpe d'huez. It was great to come back from the slopes and chill out - a real home from home. Our two teenagers loved the fact that there was satellite TV and Wifi so they could keep in touch with home.

Will definitely be back!!

Fantastic appartment

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 1 week in july. Glorious setting in a valley with 360 degrees of alps around you. Plenty of activities to do in bourg d'oisan. Appartment was v.well situated within 5 minute walk of the town and supermarket. We found the appartment in very clean condition, very spacious, and has all the necessary amenities. When we arrived there was a bottle of wine and milk provided which was a lovely touch. Sue has always responded to my emails very quickly and returned the deposit very quickly as well. Have nothing but praise for the appartment and would definitely stay again!

Great Cycling Location

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I rented this appartment for a week's cycling in the area and were very happy with our choice. It's in a great location just a couple of minutes from the first bends of Alpe d'Huez with easy access to all the cycle routes in the area. It's in a nice quiet area surrounded by trees and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evening listening to the birdsong and taking in the mountain views, yet it's only 5 minutes walk from a large supermarket and 10-15 minutes from the town centre. We found the appartment to be clean and well appointed particularly with items that you wouldn't normally find in a French appartment such as a teapot and toaster. If you want to keep in touch with the outside world it also has Wi-Fi and Freesat TV. For us having a large garage to store our bikes was a big plus point. We'd definitely recommend this proprerty for anybody considering a cycling holiday in the area.

Great location for motorbike tours

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 motorbikers and we were originally looking for a chalet somewhere south of Grenoble. But Sue and Jamie proposed to rent their flat and the flat next door. It was no compromise at all having two flats next to each other. With the joined balcony it worked out perfectly for us. The garage was a big plus as our six motorbikes were stored dry and safe over night. There was also enough space to park our cars and trailers.

Both flats are really nice, well equipped and of a higher standard compared to the French offers we got. Being married to an English lady, I really felt at home with typical English things in the flats (e.g. Jamie Oliver and Delia Smith cook books).

The location is perfect for motorbike tours. You are right of the doorstep to Alp d'Huez, as well as other great tours such as the Col de Galibier, Col de la Madeleine, Val d'Isère, etc.

The restaurants we tried were a bit disappointing, not French at all. However the supermarket called Casino (approx. 1 km away) has everything you desire; not only from the French cuisine: you even get Tetley tea there.

The communication with Sue and Jamie was very efficient. They always responded straight away. They even posted the CD's we had left in the flat back home.

We would definitely go back should we plan to return in that area again.

A paradise of activities. In summer: walking, climbing, horse riding, cycling, rafting, canoeing, swimming, fishing, golf and paragliding. For cyclists you are ideally placed for many cycle routes and just a few metres from the base of the 21 switchbacks up to Alpe d'Huez. Take a walk to the pretty village of Bourg d'Oisans with its river running through. Bourg has several restaurants, cafes, a large supermarket and busy year round Saturday market. Within walking distance, communal tennis, a bouledrome and an open air pool with toddler pool, water slide and grass area for picnics. Take a day trip to Italy, or the walled fortress town of Briancon, Visit historic Grenoble with its shops and museum. The apartment is well placed to select the 'best snow' in winter. EASY access with plenty of free parking at both high resorts Alpe d'Huez and Les 2 Alpes and the pretty tree lined resort Vaujany. You are 1 hour away from the delightful resort of Serre Chevalier.

Other Activities: bouledrome, kayaking, white water rafting, adventure park.

Ski: Well placed to select the 'best snow'. We are at the base of Alpe d'Huez, just a 15 minute drive to plenty of free parking by the slopes in Alpe d'huez, 20 mins to Vaujany and 30 mins to Les Deuz Alpes. The area is the 5th largest ski area in France, benefiting from a variety of pistes for skiers, snowboarders, walkers and ski du fond. In addition the lovely ski area of Serre Chevalier is just an hour away.

In Alpe d'Huez advanced skiers should try the challenging 'tunnel'? Alternatively enjoy one of Europe's longest runs Sarenne, 16km of piste, or test your skills in the snow park.

Lift passes are available at each resort. We recommend you hire a car, however, if you don't want to drive, in winter a bus service is available check with the tourist office for times.

Interested in Ice Climbing, head for La Meije or Les Deux Alpes.
