Beautiful apartment in a quiet location, stunning!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my Mum for four nights and was amazed how wonderful the view of the beach was from the huge bay windows. Really peaceful and relaxing. Apartment itself was furnished to a very high standard and the designs were lovely. Very clean and well maintained. Location was great, Sansend itself is a lovely little village 10 mins from Whitby and there is a bus stop right opposite with buses running every 30 mins into the town. Whitby itself has a lot to see and do and loads of great places to eat. We loved Magpies cafe! Sansend also had a few good places to eat, try Hart Inn for great pub food. Parking was fine as you can park right outside on the road, but much easier to get a spot after 5pm when all the visitors to the beach have gone home. Alternatively there is a public car park a few hundred yards down the road, but we didn’t need to use it. Lovely place and would highly recommend!

Excellent location. Well equipped and tastefully decorated.

  • 4 of 5

As mentioned above, the location is excellent:a beautiful view over the sea and local pub, cafe, shop make life easy. Accommodation is very comfortable with all sorts of little extras. A bottle of bubbly had been left for us and a pair of binoculars provided for watching ships out at sea. Good for walking with the location being on the Cleveland Way and you can also walk along the beach to Whitby (tide permitting.) The only minor glitches were the lack of a microwave in the kitchen. Obviously a lot of money has been spent getting this property to a high standard and a microwave may come soon, but I would have thought it more of a priority. A bit of a mystery as well. It does not mention Sky tv in the spec but when we had a look about there was a Sky box in the tv cupboard albeit unplugged and in the book of information provided it gave instructions about connecting to Sky. Since there was little desire to watch tv during our stay it was not a problem but it did cause us to scratch our heads for a bit. We also had workmen for a couple of days. A painter was doing the front door ( might have been a good idea to inform us before we came out!) There was also some building work out back. This is advertised as a seating area but we could not use this area.

However these are very small things in the overall scheme of things and should not detract from what is a beautiful property in a stunning location with an owner who is keen to give guests an experience to remember.

Superb sea view apartment

  • 4 of 5

We had a great few days in Sandsend. The apartment is in a prime location with the most amazing views. It was great to watch the boats sailing past throughout the day and spend the evenings strolling along the beach before returning back to the apartment to sit in the comfy armchairs watching the sunset. We enjoyed the walk along the beach into Whitby but if the weather is not great the bus takes about 10-15 minutes. We loved the cafes in Sandsend and the village stores sells a good variety of food and drink. We look forward to returning to Sandsend again one day.

Stunning sea views. Well equipped apartment.

Very relaxing.Easy access to Whitby by bus, only a few minutes away. We ate out in Sandsend on 3 nights (2 minute walk away.) The apartment was beautifully decorated but it was the sea view that we miss the most!

Nice spot - sadly cottage suffered from being unused for a while during external renovation

  • 2 of 5

There were no bedding or towels provided for the single bedroom. My little girl had to wait up late while someone came round with some bedding - what was provided had a dirty footprint on it which the lady was apologetic about, but bedtime needed to happen so we had no choice but to use it. The TV didn't work - were told someone would come and fix the Sky box on Saturday but they never arrived, and waiting for the potential intrusion from the Sky man was not particularly relaxing for the rest of the short break. Having no TV or music when you've booked a holiday with a kid was a massive nuisance.

We had been warned about scaffolding before we went and had the option to re-book for later in the year when it would be gone, but we did not realise it would stop us from opening any windows, and the front door only opened a short way so access with a little one was not ideal.

Bag of rotten wood and nails at bottom of steps were a hazard and attracted wasps.

Windows were filthy (probably to be expected due to scaffolding), and whole place needed a good thorough dust.

It was a lovely spot, the owner was apologetic about the problems and obviously didn't know it had got so grubby in the weeks while the work was going on and the cottage wasn't being used, but it really wasn't good enough and did not meet our expectations
