About the property

2 Bedrooms, Sleeping 4, in a quiet area, 1 minute from the Harbour

Located in West Looe, Trade Winds is the ground floor flat of a converted house which dates back to the late 1890's. Uninterrupted views of the Harbour, East Looe, Beach and out to Sea can be seen from the Large Bay windows/door in the Lounge and the main bedroom.

Set back from the main road, the property has its own entrance at the front accessed via the path from the road.

Looe is built around an estuary which leads to the sea and most of the properties in West Looe are built on the hillside. The access to Trade Winds is via a zig-zag slope from the road. There are also steps up to Hannafore Lane which runs along the back of the house.

Unfortunately we don't have parking at the property, but there is free on street parking available on Hannafore Point (5-10 mins walk) or Pay and Display car parks on West Looe Quay (2 mins walk) or the Mill Pool Car Park (5 min walk along the harbour). You can stop close to the property to unload/load.

The property has been completely refurbished (April 2017) with new furnishings throughout, but mixed with some original features to maintain the properties character.

About Louise

We have holidayed in Looe a number of times and fell in love with the area and the people. We are so pleased to have a base that we can use when in Looe and hope we have made it as homely as possible so that you will like staying there as well.

Why Louise chose Looe

The property has stunning views from the main bedroom and the large bay window/patio doors in the Lounge - you can lose time just looking out the window watching the Fishing boats or gazing out to sea or into the town.

What makes this apartment unique

Close to all the amenities but away from the main town hustle and bustle its the perfect location for either an energetic walking holiday or a relaxing beach break.

The Veranda gives you the perfect outside space to enjoy the views and whatever the weather will bring!

After a really successful Summer season in our new property, we wanted to reply in general to some of the comments from our guests rather than direct replies.

Looe is built around an estuary and harbour and was never made with cars in mind. As mentioned in our information there is no parking at the property, however there is free parking on Hannafore Point (5-10min walk) or 2 pay and display car parks a similar distance. The walk back to Trade Winds either via the back path or along the harbour allow you to take in a different view point of all the scenery and environment.

We also describe the walk to the flat as a zigzag ascending pathway - it is a climb with luggage, but we hope that when you arrive and see the property and the outstanding views of the harbour, estuary and out to sea, it more than makes up for a little exercise. We couldn't have the views if we didn't have the climb.

Maintaining Looe's heritage, both East and West Looe are conservation areas, so development beyond existing is prohibited. Recently a property on the Quay side below Trade Winds was given permission to be rebuilt. The former Sardine Factory was demolished in June this year and is carefully being rebuilt to the same façade and in Summer 2018 it will open as a Restaurant, Café, Outward bound centre and Harbour Museum. Although in front of the property, there will be no disturbance as the entrance is on the Quay.

Lovely flat overlooking Looe

This is a very well appointed flat with a lovely verandah to sit on where you can watch the goings on on the quay in East Looe.

Everything is catered for, the furnishings are very tastefully done and the kitchen has everything you need.

It is only a short walk from all the amenities you need and several places to eat. We didn’t use the car at all during our stay, bliss! All in all a great place to stay.

Fantastic apartment with stunning views

We absolutely loved our stay here, trade winds was decorated tastefully throughout with the most amazing views from the veranda. It had everything we needed and we spent most nights just sitting out under a blanket with a glass of wine watching the boats and the sea go in and out. And even the people on the harbour in east Looe we were that close! Prime location!

We used the ferry at the end of the road (literally 2 mins down the hill) to get over to east Looe but when they stopped for the day, it was still only a 10 min stroll up over the bridge past all the moored boats, so was a lovely walk too.

The only reason it's not 5* is the parking and lugging all our stuff up the slopes but saying that; that's part of its prime location lodged up over looking the harbour, so, once your unloaded and found somewhere to park its 5*!!!

Would recommend the sail loft for dinner and also a little farmers shop behind the quay, can't remember the name, lovely fresh local produce and meat. The beach was great for our 2yr old, clean safe and sandy. Really enjoyed our stay and when we return, we will definitely rebook!

Superb views and clean accommodation.

Waking up in the morning with the sun shining into the front of the property was the perfect start to our day.. The views of the sea/estuary/harbour are perfect. The flat had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. Parking at Hannafore point was a little troublesome but the walk back was worth it. . A lovely holiday and certainly a definite return destination for another time.

Gorgeous flat in great location in Looe.

Trade Winds is ideally located with wonderful views of the estuary and out to sea. The apartment is absolutely lovely. The furnishings are tasteful and its immaculate. It is very well equipped. And having the covered terrace was such a bonus Everything you need for a restful stay in Looe. The only disadvantage is not having parking on site and the incline on the path leading to the flat. Happy to say that didn't trouble us. We would definitely recommend this delightful flat.

Fantastic apartment with sea view

My son and I had a great break in this lovely apartment, which was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed including a balcony over looking the harbour. We did not use the car once and were able to park for free in Hannafore Road. We took the bus to Polperro and walked back - lovely views and a lovely ice cream at Tolland Bay. Visited Looe Island on the boat which is a nature reserve and finally did a circular walk of Looe taking in the coast to Tolland and then going inland to Kilminorth and back to Looe. We had the best time and hope to return.

Trade Winds had everything, excellent facilities and amazing view.

We had a wonderful week in Looe. The apartment is close to everything restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops, beach, coastal walks and lots of interesting places a bit further afield. We highly recommend Trade Winds and we will be returning.

The Looe train station links you to the mainline station at Liskeard giving you direct access to the main Cornwall and Devon towns like Truro, Plymouth, Falmouth and Penzance; plus there are local buses to the surrounding villages and towns.

Many of the boats in the harbour are working fishing vessels which you can take a trip on for a few hours or the Glass Bottom takes you around Looe Island to see the underwater world.

St Georges Island or 'Looe Island' is a Nature Sanctuary run by Cornwall Wildlife Trust which can be visited in the summer months by boat from the Harbour.
