This beautiful property will allow you to relax and enjoy nature at its best. Enjoy the newly renovated farmhouse with its covered porch where you can watch the sunrise with your morning coffee or sip a glass of wine at sunset. There are 32 acres of woods to explore and several artisan springs that feed a pond system that was once used to raise trout. A meandering creek runs through the meadow that is home to many animals. The farmhouse has 4 bedrooms (one on the main floor) and an office to play board games or work on a puzzle. All bedrooms have memory foam mattresses. There are two baths. A half bath on the main level and a full bath on the upper level. As much as we love the farmhouse, it is the farm itself that is truly quite magical. We hope you'll decide to stay and see for yourself.

About Patty McNamara
I'm Patty, just a farm girl who has been living in the city and was ready to get back in the country. My husband and I purchased this property in the fall of 2015 and have been working pretty much nonstop to bring it to it's full potential. Winter of 2015/2016 was spent painting, refinishing wood floors and furnishing the farmhouse. This spring we raised the barn and poured a new foundation. The old one was crumbling in several places and we didn't want to lose the barn. It has such a presence, the farm wouldn't be the same without it! We have several Amish men in the community working on joist and floor repairs and a new roof is up next. That will hopefully take place in the late fall or early next spring. Spring/summer of 2016 brought a lot of landscaping and outdoor work and a new paver sidewalk. There is always weeding and clean up to do on the farm, but we have made some real headway! Projects I hope to tackle next are finishing the landscaping by the pond and barn, creating more trails and mapping the trails in the woods and tackling the meadow. I would like to plant a specialty crop, but am not sure what that crop will be yet. I love Hunder Springs Farm, and I think you will as well!

Scenic, relaxing, beautiful property. Location was a perfect home base for the La Crosse area.
The farmhouse was extremely welcoming and the coulee setting was beautiful in the fall. We enjoyed walking the property and the country roads. The location was convenient for day trips exploring the La Crosse area. Would return again!
Beautiful surroundings and so peaceful
We loved the bluffs, pond and hearing the creek run below the house. We walked in the winding road and even bikes up the bluff behind the house. It was picture perfect in every way
A Slice of Midwestern Heaven!
I can’t get the beauty of this place out of my head! I planned a small road trip with my 91 year old mother who is a gem and a trooper. We both wanted to drive along the Upper Mississippi Great River Road. I searched for the “perfect” place for a couple of nights that would offer quick & easy access to the river roadways and provide a comfy evening respit. This charming farm nestled in the hills along SE Wisconsin’s Mississippi River valley far exceeded our expectations! The house is an authentic early 20th century farmhouse with 21st century comforts & amenities. The wrap-around porch complete with large rocking chairs and wooden porch swing lures you each day to sit and admire the God-kissed landscape of mountains, pastures, big skies and of course the perfect babbling brook. As we arrived we both thought “boy we should have booked a longer stay!” Having never been to SE Wisconsin I had no idea it is mountain country of the Midwest! Growing up in Colorado the mountain landscape has always been my place of peace. Chicago has been home now for many years. So I was thrilled to discover this beautiful part of the country — a more manageable drive than to the Rockies & similar wow impact. Being a city girl though means my expectations for get-away accommodations with style, comfort, atmosphere and convenience are high — this hit a “10” on all the above! Ironically, my wish for a longer stay was granted in a most unanticipated way. On the second night of our brief 2 night stay an unprecedented thunderstorm struck the area flooding surrounding roads and bridge crossings — and unfortunately the culvert/bridge providing access from the county road to the farm property was washed out as the brook swelled under flash flood conditions. The farmhouse & barn was safe and dry high on the hill & maintained power/internet. By morning the water recended. But the washed out bridge with now deep muddy banks presented us with the reality that we couldn’t leave the way we came in. The owners Patty & Jay were on top of the issue before my first call in the morning. They worked magic to get a repair crew out & create a make-shift crossing over the brook & generously brought us provisions/food to stay 2 extra nights & let the muddy banks dry before crossing w/ my elderly mom. Patty is an angel keeping in constant contact w/ us. We were never worried & drove out with ease. The culvert was under repair as we left - I’m sure it’s ready for your visit! Thank you Patty!! ❤️
I loved the overall layout of the property and the cleanliness
I loved the fire pit and the availability of fire wood!
Charming farm house with beautiful grounds.
Nice farm house and convenient location. Would definitely recommend.
Fun and peaceful.
We loved the comfortable house. The kitchen was well equiped and we loved the big table. The beds were comfortable. There was lots of wildlife to watch. The farm was interesting for all ages which for us ranged from 7 to 83. The fire pit was cute and fun to use.
Hunder Springs Farm is a place to get away from it all and just take in the beauty of the Driftless region. However, there are many attractions/activities to be enjoyed while you stay with us.
The farm is just three miles from the Mississippi River where you can enjoy fishing and canoeing/kayaking. No boat? There are also several class 1 trout streams nearby.
A scenic drive through the Driftless Region makes for a wonderful day (or two)! Many of the Amish farms offer goods for sale (their baked goods are amazing) and a glimpse into a simpler way of life. A drive to Viroqua would also be time well spent. Check out the coop, farmers' market, the Driftless Cafe and for the wine lover; Branches and Vernon County vineyards.
Additional nearby activities include hiking, cycling, horseback riding and tubing down the Kickapoo River to name a few.
Winter can also be fun! Mount La Crosse Ski Resort is only 10 miles away. Ice fishing, sledding, snowmobiling and snow shoeing are also very popular in the area.
Need some nightlife? La Crosse is only 15 miles away. The thriving downtown offers great restaurants and shops. Maybe take in a show or movie? But then head back to the peace and quiet of Hunder Springs Farm.
