About the property

Beautiful stone built villa - up to 8 people ideal for families or large parties

Nestling in the traditional village of Vournika in the southern region of the Lefkas, Villa Arapaki has stunning panoramic Sea Views across the valley of Vassiliki out to Cephalonia and Ithaca and to the west beautiful views over the west coast mountains. One of the many attractive features of this splendid house is the traditional veranda, spacious, airy and shaded it is the ideal place to sit and enjoy an outdoor meal or just relax and absorb the marvelous sunsets. The villa keeps a charming traditional character through fine stonework and combines new build quality with authentic features such as exposed timbers and high ceilings. Villa Arapaki is the perfect villa for families or a group of friends as it is spacious and comfortable and caters for every need.

The villa has Wi-Fi internet connection and a TV corner with a large flat screen TV, Satellite Channels including Movie, Sports and Children Channels, DVD library, CD player and Radio. There are plenty of books to choose from and if you need more during your holiday we can recommend a book exchange.

The master bedroom, up a spiral staircase in the stone turret, has been described as “the bedroom with the best views in Lefkada!” On the lower level there is another double bedroom with large french doors opening out onto the verandah plus a twin bedroom. All bedrooms are bright and airy, have mosquito nets over the beds and each bedroom has its own en suite bathroom with shower enclosure. We have installed Air Conditioning in all the bedrooms even though it is not necessary at Villa Arapaki as the villa is built in such a way that cool fresh air circulates throughout the house and there are large ceiling fans in all the bedrooms should you prefer not to use the A/C.

The open plan kitchen/dining room has all the mod cons you would need on your holiday including cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery, plenty of glasses, dishwasher, fridge with separate freezer drawers, full size cooker, herbs and spices, dish washer tablets, washing up liquid etc The dining room sits 6 persons and the large teak table on the verandah sits 8 persons comfortably.

On the ground floor there is a separate large apartment with a master bedroom with double bed and a living room. The apartment has its own fully equipped kitchen and open plan dining room/lounge plus there is a bathroom with bathtub and shower. A washing machine for your use is located in the apartment and we provide washing powder and softener. Arapaki apartment has its own entrance and the lounge and bedroom both open onto a terrace with seating facilities and the swimming pool.

The large 70m2 kidney shaped infinity pool overlooking the sea view is set in the spacious stone paved courtyard surrounded by shrubs and herbs that spread their delightful aroma making it just right for a peaceful Greek holiday. We provide sunbeds, sun umbrellas plus tables and chairs for you to lounge around and enjoy the slow pace of greek island life!

With comfort and ease of access in mind we added a unique 'tuck shop' to the pool level. The ‘tuck shop’ has a small fridge to keep those essential drinks cold during the hot summer months, plastic glasses and plates for your use around the swimming pool and pool towels and fun stuff for use in the swimming pool.

A changing room with shower room next to the 'tuck shop' adds to your relaxation and ensures that you hardly have to move at all for any of your needs.

Within walking distance from the villa is a Cafe, Shop and Taverna serving excellent food from the grill and if pre-ordered your favourite Greek Speciality. To the south, 10 min drive, is the attractive fishing village of Sivota. At the head of a large bay, Sivota is an outstanding natural harbour with great fish restaurants, mini markets and souvenir shops. To the east approximately 15 min drive is the picturesque bay of Mikros Gialos with its glorious crystal clear waters; great for snorkelling. To the south, Ammouso with a small taverna and beautiful pebble beach is about 10 min drive. Vassiliki about 10km away is a self-contained tourist resort with a full range of facilities including windsurf schools, restaurants/cafes and many shops. Porto Katsiki and Egremni Beaches are within 40 min drive from Vournika.

Stunning views and top quality accomodation!

  • 5 of 5

Traveling as a family of seven comprising of two teenagers, a ten year old, plus grandparents we were nervous about how the villa would accommodate everybody and their different needs! We were thrilled on arrival to discover that we had ample space, beautiful rooms each with an en suite bathroom and the downstairs apartment was perfect for my elderly parents; they even had their own kitchen which suited their alternative need for earlier eating times than the rest of the family. Long days were spent by the pool gazing out across the rolling mountains and sparkling sea. To the delight of our teenagers Vasiliki (famous for windsurfing and sailing) was just 15 minutes drive away as was beautiful Sivota where we had a couple of excellent meals out in fish tavernas. The local taverna in Vournikas served superb grilled meat and hearty oven dishes and best of all it was just a short stroll down the hill from the villa! A wonderful holiday for everyone.

Great place for a family holiday

  • 5 of 5

What a brilliant holiday home. It was just like being at home with all the comforts with the great addition of beautiful sunny days, amazing sea views and a fabulous pool. When we looked at the advert it seemed like villa Arapaki was quite high up in the hills but it is not at all. It takes about 10 mins to drive to Vassiliki where the kids did a windsurfing course and about 10 mins to drive to Nidri where we hired boats, went out on a day trip and enjoyed cocktails on the seafront. I would definitely recommend this property for a family or couples holiday in a gorgeous part of Greece particularly if you want to do lots of activities but also spend time lazing around at the villa.

A stunning property

  • 5 of 5

Villa Arapaki is a gem tucked away in a traditional Greek village. The peace and tranquility are sublime and the view from the villa down the valley towards Vasiliki is breathtaking.

We couldn't have asked for more for our annual family holiday. The villa was exceptionally clean and well presented. Cleaners and managers alike were friendly and on hand to offer tips and advice on the best restaurants and beaches etc. and it was great to get a bit of local knowledge under our belts.

The village of Vournikas is quite small and quiet, with a few traditional tavernas with excellent local dishes. On the evenings where we wanted something a little more lively, we headed to Nidri or Vasiliki, both of which are about 15 minutes in the car from the villa.

It was easy to pass the days relaxing by the pool, but some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean are really just a stone's throw away and certainly worth a visit.

We'll definitely be back again!

A great villa and a great holiday had by all!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful villa and what a lovely location. Everything was just perfect. Villa arapaki was immaculately clean and the facilities could not be bettered, it was just like being at home. It was lovely to come back from the beach to our own retreat to relax by the pool and prepare for our evening meal down at the local taverna. Our holiday was just brilliant in every respect! We are all looking forward to coming back in 2015!

Stunning Villa Ararpaki in Glorious Mountains

  • 5 of 5

The villa was even more beautiful than we had been lead to believe from the website. It was superbly spacious and the accommodation and facilities were excellent. The upper terrace and pool area were wonderful with spectacular views and we enjoyed many a star lit night with a glass of wine in hand! The villa was beautifully maintained and the services provided were more than we could ask for.

We thoroughly enjoyed the nearby spot of Sivota where the Family Taverna and the Apotheki became favourite restaurants and in Vassiliki we loved dining on the water front at the Dolphin Taverna as well as in the local village itself where everyone was very friendly.

We have already recommended the villa to family and friends and look forward to returning again ourselves.

A Great Villa for a Family Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Just amazing. A truly relaxing holiday for our family. The views are fabulous, the location peaceful yet close to beaches and restaurants. We felt on top of the world with everything at our fingertips. Villa Arapaki was immaculately clean, well maintained, had everything we could possibly need or wish for during our holiday and the manager was extremely helpful providing excellent tips for days out, places to visit and all importantly places to eat! We would definitely recommend this property for families or couples alike and shall certainly return to enjoy another holiday on Lefkas.

Villa Arapaki is within walking distance of a Cafe, small Shop and Taverna serving excellent food from the grill and if pre-ordered your favourite Greek Speciality. To the south, 10 min drive, is the attractive fishing village of Sivota. At the head of a large bay, Sivota is an outstanding natural harbour with great fish restaurants, mini markets and souvenir shops. To the south-east approximately 15 min drive is the picturesque bay of Mikros Gialos with its glorious crystal clear waters; great for snorkeling. To the south, Ammouso with a lovely beachfront taverna and beautiful pebble beach is about 10 min drive. Vassiliki about 10km away is a self-contained tourist resort with a full range of facilities including windsurf schools, restaurants/cafes and many shops. Porto Katsiki and Egremni Beaches are within 40 min drive from Villa Arapaki.

Lefkas Town, 30 mins drive, is the main commercial centre. There is a quayside road south of the causeway entrance with a busy marina. The High Street runs through the centre of town and is also known as the ‘Pazari’, this is the main street for shopping and cafes. A mid-morning coffee in the square is ideal for a break and a perfect opportunity to see the Lefkadians in ‘action’! The architecture has been mainly influenced by the Venetians and the post Byzantine traditions but also by the Turkish and the English. The houses in the main part of the town are two storey buildings, very closely packed, without yards or gardens and with narrow alleyways running between them. It is lovely to walk around the back streets of the town where you are also more likely to see the typical Lefkadian houses wrapped in brightly painted corrugated iron.

Geni, 15 mins drive, is a pretty little coastal village on the east coast with an abundance of great fish tavernas located on the water's edge.

Nidri, 15 mins drive, is the primary holiday resort on Lefkas. There are a variety of tavernas, restaurants and cafes here, also a handful of bars and a couple of nightclubs. The majority of shopping and tourist facilities are on the main street. On the seafront, known as the ‘Paralia’, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Pringiponissa islands - amongst which is Scorpios, owned by the Onassis family.

Ag. Nikitas, 40 mins drive, on the north-west tip of the island, is a pretty little village surrounded by fabulous beaches such as Pefkoulia, Kathisma and Kalamitsi. The nucleus of the village has been placed under preservation order, thus maintaining the traditional Ionian ambience.

Syvota Bay, 10 mins drive, is in the south-east at the head of a large bay and has an outstanding natural harbour. Syvota is wonderful for an evening meal with great fish tavernas by the sea.

Vassiliki, 10 mins drive, in the south is a self-contained tourist resort with a full range of facilities. The harbour is lined with restaurants and cafes and the main street has a fair number of shops. Many sailing companies operate from here and you may hire windsurf boards on a daily or hourly basis. Vassiliki has a ferry port operating a service to Cephalonia and Ithaca.

Nidri Beach - Pefkakia

(15 mins drive) A long sandy beach dotted with restaurants and hotels on the outskirts of the town. Very good for children as it is very shallow for a relatively long way in and does not shelve steeply. There are water-sports facilities including paragliding, wakeboarding, water skiing and fun rides.

Kalamitsi Beach

(approx. 1 hr drive). One of the most beautiful beaches on Lefkas. Fine shingle dotted with rock formations and a long stretch of pure white beach. There are two small cafés and not much with regards to sun beds and beach facilities.

Porto Katsiki Beach

(approx. 40mins drive) Porto Katsiki, the best known beach, is today considered one of the most outstanding in the whole of Europe. This is a beach of exceptional beauty at the most southern tip of the island. A gorgeous shingle beach framed by high limestone cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water. There are cafes and tavernas at the beach and sunbed facilities on the beach.

Engremni Beach

(approx. 40mins drive). 296 or so, steps lead down to this stunning beach virginal fine shingle beach. One of the top beaches in the Ionian Sea this is a must for visitors to Lefkas island. As with Porto Katsiki it is a gorgeous beach framed by high limestone cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water.

Motorboat hire is a must as it can open up a realm of uninhabited beaches and coves. The motorboat includes the provision of a map of the boating area, buoyancy aids, flares, oars and anchors. Detailed instructions will also be given for operation and mooring and a full local back-up service is provided. There are many small deserted coves on the coast and excellent snorkeling areas where you can enjoy the local marine life such as Sea Urchins, Sea cucumbers, Red Star Fish and when overturning stones or rocks perhaps you may find Brittle Starfish or even Octopus!
