Luxury Self catering Group accommodation

The riverbank barn conversion (dated 1770) offers luxury group accommodation for up to 15 people. Located at the Happy Horse Retirement Home, a stunning 100 acre farm in a secluded valley, set in the Brecon Beacons National Park, in spectacular coun­tryside. The barn has been thoughtfully converted to a very high standard to provide comfortable self-catering accommodation in three separate cottages that have to be rented as one unit. Blue Brook- Green Gallop- Red Ridge. Blue Brook has a large glazed dinning area with an oak dining table seating 15 and open plan sitting room so that everyone can eat and socialize together.In all cottages: Oak floors and staircases and welsh slate complements the original beams and stonework whilst each property benefits from warm terracotta tiles with under floor heating, modern showers and a romantic freestanding bath in Blue Brook. The oak coffee tables & ‘Goldilocks’style beds have been handmade. Large outdoor area with furniture & BBQ, play paddock.

Brecon Beacons National Park: The Brecon area-

Activities in the Park include walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, as well as sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and fishing its rivers and reservoirs, rock climbing, hang-gliding, caravanning, camping and caving. The Taff Trail also passes through the Beacons on its way from Brecon to Cardiff.

Sgwd yr Eira, on the Afon Hepste near YstradfellteThe Park is known for its waterfalls, including the 27-metre Henrhyd Waterfall and the falls at Ystradfellte, and its caves, such as Ogof Ffynnon Ddu.

There are numerous sites of interest and fun things to do for all the family as well as for those with particular interests such as history, gardening, steam railways, the big caves of Dan yr Ogof, canals and bird watching. The area has abundant wildlife including otters, buzzards and red kites nesting nearby. There are numerous walks from the farm, within a few minutes walk is the picturesque Crai reservoir with Brown Trout fly fishing, the Geo Park area with its glacial lakes, the large Cnewr Estate, forestry and high commons, waterfalls and the Sarn Helen Roman Road popular with mountain bikers. Brecon is 14 miles, whilst the sandy beaches of the Gower Peninsula are a 45 min drive. Dan Yr Ogof showcaves Europe largest cave complex is 6 miles away.

The spacious sitting room with comfortable leather sofas and chairs has an ‘olde worlde‘ feel with hand-made furniture and a lovely oak coffee table. The dining table is set in a light, airy glazed part of the sitting room with a large oak dining table easily able to seat 15 people. The kitchen door opens up to the outdoor sitting area along the river. There is a downstairs shower room with handbasin and toilet. Up a flight of oak stairs to two double bedrooms and a third twin Red Ridge Sleeps 5, 2 bedrooms Up handmade wooden stairs to twin bedroom with ‘Goldilocks‘ style wooden beds and a second bedroom with triple bunk beds, the lower being a 120cm wide bunk and a full size top bunk - sleeps 3 people.
