About the property

Sleeps 2 (1 bedroom)

The house is on two levels, made of stone and located in a small, rural hill town. It is in quiet surroundings with spectacular views from every room. The first floor has a kitchen with a fireplace and a balcony overlooking vineyards and olive groves. There is also a nice tiled bathroom with tub/shower. The second floor has a large, airy bedroom as well as a separate comfortable sitting room. This is a charming retreat with many historic sites and towns within driving distance. The climate is mild and the air is clean. It's a nice escape from city life. The house is looked after by an English couple who live 5 minutes away.

Visiting Relatives

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the house while visiting relatives in Abruzzo and had a wonderful time. It was quiet and peaceful with amazing views. We particularly enjoyed buying produce from the local farms and cooking in the lovely kitchen. The location was very convenient for getting around the region.

We visited Elice during its Medieval Festival in August. The house was charming and spotless and at the centre of the festivities. We watched much of the festival from the window over the street. The local restaurants were excellent and very affordable, and we found a nice bar down the hill for coffee. Everyone was very friendly, and Tracey was helpful.

A Lovely Rental

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to spend a vacation! I spent a week in Elice in the spring and truly enjoyed my stay there. The house was very comfortable and the views from its windows were simply amazing. I loved traveling around this region visiting the hilltowns and especially liked Atri. The food and wine were wonderful and the people were friendly. I do plan a return visit in the near future!

Elice is dominated by the Barrone castle at its centre. It is a small, quiet town with a bakery, market and local bar. There is also a small, 12th century church in the main square where a farmers market is present every Thursday. Down the hill are a variety of restaurants, bars and markets. Pescara, with its beaches, restaurants and night life, is less than a half hour away. Locally, there are many beautiful towns to discover. The countryside is dramatic and dotted with historic villages and larger towns like Penne and Atri that offer many cultural and artistic attractions.

The climate is pleasant with mild springs and autumns and hot summers. Throughout the summer months there are festivals in the small towns and villages where you can sample local cuisine, crafts and music. Elice has its own medieval festival every August.

The Abruzzo region is dominated by the Appenine mountain range and one third of Abruzzo territory is dedicated to National Parks.
