Why Annette Nix chose London Borough of Camden
I bought this property because of its perfect location. You are very near to transport links yet it feels out of the 'smoke' as here we are surrounded by trees and other lovely houses. It is a very attractive part of London and only takes 20-30 mins to get into the centre where all the theatres, art, shopping and cultural activities are. It is also near( 15-20 mins walk ) to the best park in London , Hampstead Heath , which is lovely as it is not manicured and you feel like you are walking in the countryside. I can still get lost, although I have been going there for 35 years! Primrose Hill and Regents Park also very near ( 5mins) full of lovely cafes, bars , pubs and restaurants and boutique shops and the occasional celebrity !

Lovely area to stay in
This apartment is located very conveniently in one of our favorite areas of London. Other reviewers have commented on proximity of stores, restaurants, and public transport. The flat is the owner's home, and is well-lived in, with lots of her art decorating the walls and dozens of family photos. We found that the flat was not totally prepared for our stay -- not quite as clean as we would have liked, and with used cleaning cloths and pads left in the washing machine and used dishes in the dishwasher. We had been promised "plenty of space" for our things, but found that only half a shelf in the kitchen and half a shelf in the bedroom had actually been cleared out for us to use during our 16-day stay. The bed was extremely soft for our taste. The deep bathtub was so slippery that we bought a non-skid mat to stand on. The photos showed lamps on both sides of the bed, but this was no longer the case. The owner was cooperative in letting us make more space for our things, and suggested we bring a lamp from the sitting room into the bedroom. We enjoyed staying in this part of London, and found the apartment to be attractive and ample in size, but lacking in preparation for renters.
I am always surprised by visitors who expect soulless pristine" hotel style" accommodation when staying in "Homeaway" properties as this is my home. I had explained this to the visitors prior to their stay. Most people do not need lots of space for food as they tend to go out while on holiday in London . My flat is small but beautifully decorated and in a great location. I have many repeat visitors . The bed was soft as I put a mattress topper onto the bed as a previous visitor had said it was too hard . Everyone has different taste.😉
Beautiful, comfortable and convenient!
Annette was a lovely host. Her flat is as beautiful as the pictures, if not more so. The main room looks out on a quiet garden, to which guests have partial access. The ceilings and windows are high, so it's very light and airy. The bathroom is completely redone and is terrific, with a large tub and shower with good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable as well. Do remember this is very much her home and not a hotel, so her belongings (including lovely art work) are part of the environment, but wasn't intrusive and we had plenty of room for our things.
It is about a 7 minute walk to the nearest tube (Chalk Farm on the northern line) which was very convenient. The flat is a block away from cafes, pubs, a Tesco Express and a Starbucks. Plus a short walk to Primrose Hill and it's surrounding neighborhood. A slightly longer walk south (maybe 15-20 minutes) puts you in the heart of bustling Camden Town.
We loved our stay and look forward to returning again in the future. Thanks, Annette!
HI , I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you so much for your lovely review. Yes, this is usually my home so this is not a perfect environment for people who want a hotel feel ( although my bathroom is marble and somewhat nicer than a 5 star hotel! )or empty, spacious shell of a place. This is a cosy, comfortable place to stay in the Capital and as you describe, in a great location that feels not too urban. I look forward to your speedy return, Annette
Great location, needs some TLC.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property, despite some issues with the overall condition of the unit. The location in Camden, for us, was excellent, nice residential area with nearby shops and restaurants, and Regent's Park. Short tube ride to central London and major attractions. Owner was there to greet us on arrival and easy to reach with questions, local advice, etc.
Our chief complaint was that the flat is neither as clean nor well maintained as the photos or description would suggest. On the positive side, good bathroom, lots of hot water, appliances, TV, Wi Fi etc. as described. However, fridge and freezer full of owners food. Compost bin and kitchen garbage pail full of owner's leavings, flies buzzing about. We had to empty both and scrub out the compost caddy on arrival. Worst among our concerns was the very poor quality bed, which had the worst mattress in all of our home rental experiences. We flipped the mattress hoping that the other side would have fewer springs pushing through - not a guest-friendly task! The unit is very tiny, as one bedroom is closed off, making it essentially a two-room flat with bath.
We do not wish to be unnecessarily critical. There were many positives staying in this flat with beautiful back garden in a lovely neighborhood, far enough away from the city throngs yet close enough to get back and forth. Some sprucing up with greater attention to hosting, as opposed to simply handing over the keys with almost no preparing the place for guests would elevate it to excellent.
I am very surprised by this review as these visitors told me what a lovely time they had! I have many visitors who return repeatedly to my home. I have also been told that the bed is extremely comfortable ,as can be read on other reviews. I have also recently spent a lot of time and money refurbishing my property so I can not agree with their comments either re not well maintained. I did make a mistake of forgetting to take out the compost bin . The main bin was empty and clean however. I also mentioned to them that they were welcome to help them selves to anything they needed in the cupboards . I think this is a rather mean review altogether and not well founded. Maybe they had a bad day!😉
Pleasant and convenient
Location was great. Kitchen small but just adequate. Seating good for one but not more, comfortably. Aesthetic pleasant. I paid an additional 50 pounds for cleaning. I thought that was a lot. Overall - I would return.
Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay.
Maybe the website does not state clearly enough that the cleaning fee of £50 is required . I will double check. I have never had any problems with previous visitors and have been renting out my property for some time.
I am not sure if you are talking about my place or another as I definitely have room for more diners . My circular marble dining table is 1.20 m wide diameter and it has 4 chairs round it ! It is is the main photo incase anyone wants to check! I have had dinner parties for 6 people round the table!
The kitchen is open plan . The flat is only suitable for 2 people , and may seem small to travellers from USA as I know homes tend to be larger there! Someone from Paris would think my flat very large!
I hope you get a chance to return soon!
ADORABLE FLAT IN A GREAT LOCATION!!
Annette has the cutest flat, the pictures do not do it justice. I was within walking distance of everything I could possible need. I hope she has space for me the next time I come to London because I definitely want to stay here again.
Thank you Lisa, you are the best visitor...easy peasy! Thank you so much for staying and I look forward to seeing you again soon!
Casual garden living in the big city
Annette was a delightful host. Her rental was comfortable, well appointed and in a good location. You can expect to walk a little but, but we like to do that. Buses and the Underground are relatively convenient. We enjoyed being close to Regents Park where he view of London central is beautiful. There are many great restaurants and grocery stores and getting to the city proper is not inconvenient. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, yet lively. As we have been to London before, we liked staying in this hip, less city-like area.
We would have liked to have used the lovely garden and backyard but we didn't use it due to the cool weather. The flat is spacious, well lit, has good wifi and Cable TV was very good too. Enjoy!
Thanks so much Donna and Dick Treffers. I am glad you enjoy London as much as I do ! So much to do and not enough time! I hope to see you again soon.
Fellows road is in a wonderful location near to Hampstead and all its amenities and the wonderful Heath for walks on a Sunday afternoon.
Primrose hill is 5 min walk with lovely shops and cafes, and bars and restaurants.
Chalk Farm and Belsize Park tubes are a 5-10 min walk from the flat.
Towards Camden you have the Roundhouse where live music concerts are held and the famous Camden Market. There are several cinemas in the near vicinity including Swiss Cottage, Camden and Belsize park and also Hampstead.
It takes less than 20 min on the tube to get into town and Oxford Street for shops galore and the West End where our fantastic theatres and restaurants and bars are. You are spoilt for choice in every way.
