Le Grenier à Blé is the former wheat-store for the neighbouring watermill. Completely renovated in late 2007 into a delightfully tranquil villa.
The villa boasts a proper cook's kitchen, 2 double bedrooms with en-suite shower-rooms and a 3rd large bedroom with mezzanine floor sleeping 4. Large gardens.
We tend to attract professionals who have invariably worked too hard and require a complete recharge of the batteries. Enjoy the large non-chemical private swimming pool, eat al-fresco on the sun terrace, take morning coffee enjoying the pastoral views whilst sitting on the balcony or challenge the family to a table football tournament!
We offer free membership to the local well maintained tennis courts.
It is possible to do as little or as much as you want.
There are 2 double bedrooms both with en-suite shower-rooms and a 3rd bedroom on 2 levels sleeping 4. There is a family bathroom for this bedroom.
Ideal for families: Le Grenier a Blé lends itself to large families, parties of 2 families or families with grandparents. We have welcomed guests from 8 months to 84 yrs old.
There is a seriously fabulous non-chlorine swimming which is private and for your exclusive use. The pool is protected by an alarm that complies with French law. Position one of the sun-loungers under the gloriette and read one of the books provided by the villa. Enjoy al-fresco dining on the wooden sun-terrace.
It is a place where one can recharge the batteries, enjoy quality time with the family and do as much or little as you want.
We are rightly proud of our villa and welcome families with children that will treat the villa with loving care.
We are an English family who moved from UK in 2003. We bought a watermill with a completely separate large barn in the idyllic hamlet of Mengué. 3 years were spent making the barn into luxury accommodation for up to 8 people. The task was a complete labour of love.
I am a marathon runner who is invariably training for my next challenge and welcome anyone who wants to join me in a scenic run around this beautiful area. We have 4 children; 2 of which are at university and the other 2 are still at home.
Luxury accommodation is rare in France. Our villa is kitted out with all the mod cons but has antiques and original features. We have worked hard to go the extra mile; supplied as standard are loo rolls, cling-film, tin foil, washing powder, fairy liquid, coals for the BBQ - the list goes on!
The villa is near the mountains, Toulouse and the border of Spain. Clients can choose to do as much or as little as they like. We seem to attract clients who have intentions to visit many places but end up basking in the summer sun whilst enjoying the splendid pool.
During the summer holidays we offer a mid-week mini-clean; therefore on a Wednesday the bathrooms are cleaned, floors hoovered and moped & kitchen surfaces cleaned....something that I should love when holidaying with my family!! This is in addition to the full clean on Saturday morning.
Amongst other goodies offered as standard is a chilled bottle of champagne to welcome you to the villa.
No need to pack bulky swimming towels as they too are provided.
There is a Nespresso coffee machine with 40 capsules for you to enjoy.
The pool is non-chlorine which makes such as difference and thus a more pleasurable experience.
The property is owner maintained. As we live in the next door watermill we are there should there be any problems or indeed that you wish for a recommendation to a local restaurant. The two properties are entirely separate, affording complete privacy and the splendid pool is for clients PRIVATE use.
We had a lovely week in the luxurious villa in the sleepy hamlet of Mengué. A true escape from it all.
For a real experience of a traditional French market we visited Samatan farmers' market about an hour away.
Aurignac was lovely to visit, just a short drive, a medieval town with nice shops. We ate at the Hotel St. Laurans which served beautiful home cooked food.
We visited Spain stopping off at Canejan a gorgeous mountaintop village.
All in I would recommend a stay in Mengué to recharge your batteries.
Thank you to Elizabeth and Simon for being such lovely hosts.
We have just returned from a fantastic week at La Grenier. The house is an easy one hour drive from Toulouse airport and Simon's directions meant we covered the last few kms without problems. It is in a tiny hamlet called Mengue which our UK satnav recognised but the hire car one didn't. It is very peaceful and private and the pool area was lovely to spend a day chilling out. Aurignac (15 mins) has a large supermarket as well as bakers and butchers. The recommendations for a trip to a large market and a good restaurant were well worth it and we also had days out in Toulouse and Carcassonne.
The house is equipped with everything you need including a full supply of household essentials and towels for the pool.
Elizabeth and Simon were excellent hosts who take pride in ensuring you have a great time.
Highly recommended if you are looking for a peaceful location among fields of maize and sunflowers.
In August 2015, we very much enjoyed a week at Le Grenier a Ble.
A beautifully refurbished granary, which was both modern, clean and comfortable with many original features.
This property is perfect for a quiet and relaxing holiday, surrounded by the beautiful country side of Haute Garonne. This property is a real home from home, which has been thoughtfully furnished with everything you could possibly need for your stay.
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in which to relax and escape, with the added benefits of a beautiful pool and reliable Wi Fi, in our case to keep our teenagers happy then look no further.
Thanks to Elizabeth, Simon and family for affording us maximum privacy, whilst being available for hospitality and advice when required. This is truly a first class holiday property and we will be returning.
Our stay at ‘le Grenier à Blé’ just outside of Aurignac was quite simply the most amazing holiday we have ever had. Coming from Australia, our desire was to take our children to a villa in the south of France that epitomised everything you see in the movies about this location. When looking on the internet for a house, we found this property and it looked too good to be true. The amazing thing to us was that it exceeded every expectation we had.
It was a perfect setting for our family of 3 children (11 yr old son, 7 yr old daughter and our youngest son who turned 4 at the house!). We also had nanny and poppa who joined us from New Zealand. Elizabeth and Simon were the most amazing of hosts, and it was so sad to leave. We stayed in the villa for 11 nights and wished we had extended further.
We took day trips to Spain, to Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges (an absolute must) as well as just hanging out at the house which was an experience in itself. We’ve stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world, however this experience surpassed anything we have experienced before.
To wake in the morning, wander down to the little church at the entrance to the road, pop up to Aurignac for fresh bread and coffee was what dreams were made of. The property somehow managed to create a magical atmosphere that we can’t quite put our finger on. Our children (who loved just running in the fields, swinging on the tyre across the stream, hanging out at the dam and just wandering around) did not want to leave either – and continually talk about our time there. The grandparents want to return with us next time!
There were 7 of us that stayed, and it was such a special experience. We have taken quite some time to post this, as we just couldn’t sum up how you describe such an experience – and we still don’t think we have done it justice. Elizabeth and Simon (and Florence and Oscar), you know we have already booked for 2016, and we look forward to seeing you then.

Perth, Western Australia.
We stayed almost 10 days in the beautiful villa ‘le Grenier à Blé’, situated at the countryside. It is a cosy villa in a quiet but fantastic environment in the middle of the sunflower fields. And at the same time close to the rough but great mountainrange of the Pyreneeen. In the villa all modern household- and kitchen equipment was available. Besides the equipment, we had also a lot of ingredients al our disposal, allowing us to prepare the delicous daily meals.
Our 5 children really enjoyed our stay : top atractions for them were off course the barbecue (eating), the football kickerstable and the swimming pool, which due to the location of the villa, offered the necessary privacy for our three daughters.
Elisabeth and Simon, the owners of the villa, were warm and charming hosts. Upon arrival they offered us fresh backen bread and a bottle of champaign.
They ensured that their guests didn’t lack of something and questions were answered almost before they are asked. The villa itself was clean and well
Although we visited the villa already last year, our children convinced us to return this year.
Had a brilliant week here. A fantastic place to escape the the real world and unwind.
The villa is fitted out to a very high standard and everything you could need for your stay is provided.
The immediate area is typically sleepy countryside and small villages, however Aurignac has shops, bars etc.
Further afield, there's more activity - we had day trips to Toulouse for shopping, Spain for duty free, Luchon and Gavarnie for walking in the stunning scenery of the Pyrenees.
Elizabeth and Simon are excellent hosts, making sure you are comfortable and happy without being intrusive.
Overall, a highly recommended destination - hope to go back soon.
Le Grenier a Blé is nestled in a quiet hamlet of 8 houses with views of the river Louge, rolling fields of sunflowers/corn and the medieval town of Aurignac in the distance. This area is proper France, it is not in the slightest bit chi-chi. It is not suited for holiday makers seeking night life or indeed bright lights!
There are many places to visit. The villa is an hour from the Pyrénées; take a picnic and enjoy a day in the mountains. There you will find waterfalls, forests and prehistoric caves. We are also only an hour from the 'pink city' of Toulouse where one can literally shop till you drop. Enjoy the culture of the farmers' markets and then head out to one of the local restaurants.
The villa was once the grain store for the hamlet's watermill. We live in the neighbouring watermill. The properties are completely separate - even facing in different directions thus offering privacy. We are available for advice should you wish it, or not as the case may be.
Other Activities: horse riding
Ski: We are fortunate to have 3 ski stations an hour from the villa. The villa is not normally open during the winter but if you are especially keen to enjoy Christmas here or have another special occasion please let us know.
