This country home is just outside the town of Vila Real, up a long, tree-lined avenue that shields it from the road. 'Casa da Vinha' is a three bedroom cottage, the nicer and bigger cottage of the property but also the less protected from the city nearby.
The house is tastefully decorated with antiques combining the traditional construction from the north of Portugal with modern comfort.
This is a great spot lovely for those who wish to combine the quiet of country life with easy access to the town (3 kms from city centre) and Region. Just 3 Kms from Casa de Mateus, 15 mns driving from the heart of the Douro Valley and River, 8 kms from Alvão Natural Park with its beautiful granite stone pools and waterfall and one hour from Porto. Car is necessary to visit this region
Vila Real is the biggest town in Douro region, known for its wonderful bakery, cuisine and pottery - the dark pottery of ‘Bisalhaes’ - but also for being the gate to the World heritage Douro’s wine region, that ‘National Geographic’ considered the 7th World’s Sustainable Tourism Destination.
Start with Alvao’s National park, just 8 km away. Beautiful landscape, natural swimming pools and waterfalls, homeland of the unique ‘Maronesa’ cow. You will surely end to meet one wandering around.
You can also visit Casa de Mateus, less than 3 km from us.
There is guided tours to this 18th century manor house, to its wondrous gardens and wine tasting.
The Douro valley is a must, either if you are a landscape lover or a wine tasting. Visit the wine proprieties, cellars, taste the port wines or just wander around and check why this is a world heritage’s region.
Finally we are 1 hour from Porto; 35 min from Amarante and Chaves; 30 min Pinhão and Lamego and 15 min from Régua.
