The villa is child and teenager friendly. It is spacious, simply but elegantly furnished and uncluttered. In the attractively planted communal patio area there are two pools of 40 m2, both with young child areas. One pool is within steps of the dining terrace and has plenty of pool-side space for sun-bathing. There is free WIFI Internet access and a modern flat screen TV is available for connection to laptops and gaming devices as well as for playing DVDs (selection, including childrens, provided) .

Terraces and balconies, front and back, with views of the White Mountains give private outdoor space for sitting, dining or sun-bathing. All rooms, including bedrooms, are air-conditioned, fitted with shutters and floor tiled to help keep the villa cool. The villa is situated in a quiet small complex of privately owned properties and is an easy and fairly level walk to the beach, shops and tavernas of Almyrida.

Almyrida is a small seaside resort situated in a sheltered bay with a gently shelving long and sandy beach with clear water, perfect for swimming. The village has a good selection of family-friendly tavernas along the beach front, some with seating on the beach, perfect for a relaxed meal. There are several little supermarkets, a pharmacy, souvenir shops, a butcher and a baker! For the active, there is a scuba diving and snorkelling company based in the village and, in the summer, canoes and windsurfing boards are available for hire on the beach front.

Almyrida is located on the north-western coast of Crete and is about 30 kilometres from Chania airport. A car is not absolutely necessary as there is an efficient and relatively inexpensive bus service to the local town of Kalyves, with a supermarket, and to the city of Chania with its old town and Venetian harbour area. There are also buses to the hinterland villages and, indeed from Chania town, buses across the whole island of Crete. However, having your own transport will give you more flexibility. (Car hire available from Chania airport as well as from Almyrida itself.)

Fully air-conditioned spacious modern villa within a small complex of 15 privately owned villas, with access to two shared pools (40m2 each) and garden/patio areas. Even though it is situated in the quiet outskirts of the village, it is only an easy 6 minutes’ walk to the long and sandy beach of Almyrida and its welcoming beachside tavernas. The villa’s many terraces and balconies look out on beautiful views of olive groves, the White Mountains and the beautifully planted pool and patio areas of the complex.

EOT licence (MHTE 1042K92003265501) granted by the Greek Ministry of Tourism as per regulation.

English speaking owners and locally-based english speaking housekeeper. She will have the house ready for you and, if you are staying for two weeks, can come in mid-stay to change sheets and towels - no extra charge.

At the front of the house is an attractive plant bordered terrace looking out over an olive grove and the distant White Mountains. The front door opens into a spacious and modern open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and dining, including cooker, microwave and fridge/freezer. There is an indoor dining table and several comfortable leather sofas.

The first twin bedroom is usefully located on the ground floor. This bedroom has direct access to the dining terrace.

The dining terrace, partially shaded, has easy access to the beautifully planted patio area and two pools. It is set up for outdoor eating with a large patio table and chairs.

The pools are 40 square metres in size and have a shallower area for young children. They and the patio areas are serviced regularly. Six comfortable sun loungers are provided. The various patios allow all day sunbathing and, yet, it is always possible to find some shade too! (The back terrace and the pools can also be accessed from the front of the house.)

A handy downstairs toilet and shower room fits neatly beneath the stairs.

Upstairs is a second twin room with double patio doors opening out onto a wrap-around balcony with spectacular views of the White Mountains. The balcony also looks out over the pretty olive grove opposite the villa.

The double bedroom has a window overlooking the pool area and, if you keep the shutters open, you can be awoken by the morning sunshine.

Accessed from the upstairs hallway is a large balcony with an extensive view of the pools and patio area and, in the distance, the White Mountains. Furnished attractively with an outdoor table and chairs, this is a lovely place to enjoy the first rays of the morning sun.

The main bathroom is spacious and light. Fully tiled it has a toilet and sink and a large open showering area.

The villa has internet and WIFI provided by an antenna on the roof. A modern, small flat screen TV is available for playing DVDs or connecting to gaming devices. The water is heated by the power of the sun but an immersion heater is available if required.

For those hot summer days, the villa is tiled throughout and air conditioning is installed in the open plan area and all bedrooms. The windows have shutters to keep out the sun and for security.

Linen and towels are included. For two-week stays the linen and towels are replaced after the first week and the villa is given an interim clean.

The villa is equipped with a clothes washer, drying rail, ironing board and iron. There is off-road parking for one car and plenty of space on the roadside for another car, if necessary.

About Mr and Mrs Pindar

Chris and I live near Bath, Wiltshire. We are new to managing a rental property but have years of experience of being the customer! We know what makes a holiday property good for those visiting it - especially for those looking for a family friendly holiday.

The villa is mainly used by ourselves and friends. We only rent out the property to paying guests for a maximum of 12 weeks a year, as limited by our Greek EOT licence.

We are lucky enought to have the advantage of the services of an english speaking, local housekeeper who knows the property and the area.

Why Mr and Mrs Pindar chose Apokoronos

We chose this property for ourselves because it is really only a very short walk to a very attractive and accessible beach AND a good choice of tavernas. Almyrida is considered one of the best seaside villages in Crete for a tranquil environment - not a nightclub area although our children (19 and 22 years old) have enjoyed the cocktail bars!

The villa has four terraces/balconies on different sides of the villa which can be used to seek shade or sun. The shared patio areas are spacious.

The villa is not luxurious but it is well-designed and tastefully decorated. It is not huge but spacious enough for 6 people to be comfortable. It does not have its own private pool but it is only a few steps from the back terrace to the nearest shared pool for an easy and cooling plunge.

Lastly, it is not horrrendously expensive to rent unlike many of the other properties with pools in this area (as they tend to be in their own grounds with a private pool).

The previous owner rented it out very successfully. This summer we had two repeat visitors from the previous year as well as several new parties.

Quiet location on the outskirts of the village yet easy walking distance to beach and tavernas. Small complex with two shared pools and private owners. Beautiful views of the White Mountains from the many terraces. Three bedrooms and open plan sitting room/dining area and kitchen. Air conditioning !
