Overview

About the property

4 bedroomed detached home with 3 bathrooms in a beautiful rural location

Picture-box double fronted house with many luxury features that can accommodate upto 10 guests (including 2 children in bunk beds). The property is 170 years old and was the School Masters house many years ago in this quiet village with local Church, Pub, Tea Rooms and Village hall and surrounded in history. There are two log-burners to add to that rural cosy feeling at the end of the day either in the formal dining room or relaxing in the lounge, or why not have a soak in the roll top bath. There is a newly refurbished kitchen including double oven, fridge freezer, washer/dryer and wine fridge to help you unwind at the end of the day - there is also a conservatory to relax in and spend time watching the birds.

You probably need a car for when you are not exploring the local places of interest but there is a limited bus service that runs through the village. There is also a train service stopping at Haltwhistle a local town which is approximately 5 miles away.

School House is an ideal location for Hadrian's Wall and Pennine Way and to view all the history around. Greenhead is a small village on the border of England/Scotland with a busy local pub that serves very good food most of the day. There is also a monthly farmers market at the local village hall which is only 250 yards away.

A BBQ is also available in the garden for your use and plenty of outdoor areas to sit. There is also a private pool (needs booking beforehand at a small cost) which is situated approximately 1/2 mile down the road and can be enjoyed for your own personal use together with changing facilities.

Wifi is also available throughout the house.

On the ground floor is a lounge with a huge leather corner settee and log burner off which is a conservatory with plenty of extra seating. There is also a formal dining room with seating for 10 (including children) and again a very large log burner. There is also a ground floor family bedroom with ensuite - let us know beforehand you can choose between 2 single beds or kingsize double with extra bunk beds this room has very easy access to the kitchen which is very well equipped for entertaining for 10.

On the first floor the main bedroom has a king size double bed and a separate shower cubicle this is a lovely light room with two separate windows looking onto the garden below. The family bathroom is a lovely space to unwind at night with a large roll top bath and mood lighting. The second bedroom upstairs has a double bed and ensuite with shower. Lastly the smallest bedroom has a double bed. All bedrooms upstairs have wardrobes with plenty of storage.

A beautiful, comfortable and well looked after property

  • 4 of 5

We ( 5 adults and 2 children) booked this property to celebrate a special birthday for one of our family and the property was ideal, with lots of space and amenities we all appreciated our privacy and social spaces the property offered us. We would have liked to make more use of the beautiful outside areas but was let down a little by the weather. However this didn't spoil our long weekend. On the Saturday three of us enjoyed a bracing walk to Haltwhistle, a very enjoyable lunch at the black bull as our reward but decided to taxi back due to the blackening skies, the others in our party elected to drive to Whitley Bay to enjoy the seaside for the day. On the Sunday we visited the Roman Fort Museum which entertained all the family for a couple of hours, quite an achievement and definitely recommended. Many thanks to Geraldine for all the information provided, the flexibility with regard to arriving and leaving, the store cupboard amenities and the very generous welcome pack, we all thoroughly enjoyed our family celebratory weekend at this stunning property in a very unspoiled part of the country.

Fantastic house to relax and entertain!

We had a great 3 nights, two families meeting up from either end of the country. The house was pristine and beautiful blend of old and and modern.

Well presented large family home.

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 9, 8 adults and 1 child we stayed in this lovely family home over the new year weekend. The house is very well equipped with everything you need. It has a large extremely well equipped kitchen with double oven and American style fridge/freezer, dish washer and washing machine. The living room has a very large corner sofa which we were all able to sit on together, however the conservatory is just off the living room which offers a quieter space if you prefer. There were games and a huge collection of DVDs available to use. As it was cold we didn't make use of the lovely garden which had lots of seating and a barbecue. The house is very spacious and we never felt overcrowded. Only negative thing was the downstairs family bedroom which was set up with 2 single beds and single bunk beds didn't have any space for any storage. This wasn't really a problem for us as we didn't really have anything which needed to be hung up. This room does however have a lovely en suite shower room.

There is a pub serving meals at the end of the road where there was a lovely friendly atmosphere and we were made to feel very welcome.

The owner was very helpful with my enquiries and responded quickly to my messages. We would definitely recommend this property and would return again.

My family and I had the pleasure of spending Christmas in this beautiful house , we had the most fantastic time the house was decorated festively and had a warm and inviting feel .

Beds are super comfort and great quality.

Pictures don’t do this house justice and we feel in love with it from first view .

We would 110% recommend this property and will definitely return x

A lovely family house, very warm and welcoming. Lots to do and see in the area.

  • 5 of 5

We have had a fabulous weekend with our family in your beautiful house, even the weather was kind to us considering how bad it had been prior to our arrival.

The kitchen was wonderfully equipped with ample storage, wine fridge, excellent range of glasses, utensils, crockery, pans, ovens, hob and work surfaces for a family who just love to cook.

The utility was an added bonus too, great storage area and fab fridge/freezer.

The dinning room is a lovely cosy space to enjoy a home cooked meal, plenty of room for us all to sit in comfort for lots of eating and talking.

An amazing sitting room such a relaxing space, great for us grown-ups whilst keeping an eye the little ones playing with their games in the conservatory.

Relaxed and enjoyable experience from booking, though arrival stay and departure. Quick responses to

Picturesque setting. Excellent gardens and outdoor space. Inside there is plenty of room to spread out or be on your own. The kitchen is very well equipped. The dining room has a large table and provides a lovely setting for evening meals or breakfast, especially with the wood burner going. There was very little outside noise, the occasional train going by which I quite enjoyed. The village was clean, quiet well set out and a handy location for walking access to Hadrian's wall path and the Pennine Way. Also just a short walk to Thirlwell castle. Six of us stayed. 3 couples so I'm not sure how it would have worked with 10 people. We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property.
