About the property

Tanyresgair Cottages: The Stables - single storey stone cottage

The Stables is one of two self-catering holiday cottages in a recent barn conversion, set in a stunning location in mid Wales. Located on our 14 acre smallholding right in the middle of Ceredigion – between the Cardigan Bay coast to the west and the Cambrian Mountains to the east; and between Aberystwyth to the north and Lampeter to the south.

The one bedroom cottage has retained the charm and character of the original stone barn, with exposed beams, wooden and slate floors. Its an ideal choice for the discerning couple with a wide range of interests, who want peace & quiet at their accommodation but with lots of things to do within easy reach.

This stunning cottage is the old stables/cowshed and is open to the high rafters with the original A-frames exposed. It consists of a very large completely open-plan bedroom/lounge/diner and an open plan kitchen on a separate level, with a shower room.

It has a modern fitted kitchen with electric stove and large fridge, oil-fired central heating, flat-screen TV, free wi-fi and a king-sized bed with hotel quality bed linen & towels. There are reclaimed wooden floors in the living area and slate floors in the kitchens and shower rooms. The original old barn doors have been recycled to make mirror frames, window sills, coat hooks and lintels.

The furniture includes a rattan lounge suite, pine dining table & chairs and pine bedroom furniture (wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside tables). And there is still plenty of space for you to spread out and make yourselves at home.

Outside enjoy a private SE-facing patio with garden furniture for enjoying the view, plenty of parking, a bike shed and bike washing facilities.

ALSO check out our other cottage at the same location - The Hayloft, which has a totally different layout but the same high quality. The two cottages would be ideal for two couples travelling together.

Why Rachel chose Aberystwyth

We were looking for a classic "Escape to the Country" property in Wales with outbuildings to convert into holiday cottages, and found Tanyresgair which was perfect in every way.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace and quiet. No neighbours. On edge of moorland. Beautiful garden & views. Birdlife.

The best away from it all place to visit anywhere in mid-Wales

  • 5 of 5

Cottage was immaculate, had everything one could require, plus a warm welcome from the owners. The situation is in the middle of nowhere and not far from anywhere. If peace and tranquillity is what is required this is the place to be. We loved it.

A superb cottage in a beautiful part of Wales.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week in Bodnant in this clean, very well furnished, cottage in the heart of the Welsh countryside.

Rachel and Jeremy are a friendly couple who made us welcome.

Remote and peaceful but easy to get to shops in Tregaron and Aberystwyth. Ideal for two people.

There are lots of interesting of places to visit in the area.

We would love to return one day to ride on the Vale of Rheidol Railway which was not operating because of the dry weather.

We spent two lovely weeks in the "Stables" in June 2018.

The cottage is ideal, if you love tranquillity and beautiful landscape. You find everything you need for a self-catering holiday and the cottage is decorated with really good taste. Everything is neat and clean. Our hosts Rachel and Jeremy gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful and friendly.

We found lots of information and tipps what to do and were to go, from walks nearby to scenic auto-routes along the coast or into the Cambrian Mountains.

We can really recommend a stay at Tanyresgair Cottages.

Petra and Rolf
