Some things we like to do in the local area…..
Glengoyne Distillery: one of the best and prettiest whisky distilleries in Scotland – fascinating, fun and delicious! Visit some whisky distilleries, starting with our local Glengoyne and enjoy a wee dram.
Conic Hill from Balmaha visitor carpark and back: 1.5 hours – brilliant views. Walk Conic Hill and enjoy lunch and a well earned drink at the Oak Tree Inn.
Ben Lomond: 5hrs - for the more adventurous summit the 3,196 feet of fantastic Munro. Our favourite way is up Ptarmigan Ridge, as it’s never as busy as the main tourist trail.
Loch Katrine: walking, bike hire, trip on the steamer and coffee shop. Great for the kids because it’s traffic free.
Near Aberfoyle: visit the Loch Ard waterpark for fun activities on the loch. From here a 5 minute drive will take you to the village of KInlochard where you must stop at the famous Wee Blether Tearoom for fabulous giant scones and cakes.
Lomond Shores, Balloch: visit Lomond Shores – shops, lunch, hire Segways or bikes from Canyou Experience and tour Balloch Country Park. Water activities and playpark also here. Take a cruise up the loch.
Blair Drummond Safari Park: Great day out for all the family.
Soar at intu Braehead: If you’re looking for a day out for all the family with real snow slopes, bowling, crazy golf, Laser Planet, shops, bars, restaurants, cinema and other activities, all under one roof. Great for a wet day.
Stirling: spend a day at Stirling, visit the Castle and climb Wallace’s monument. Thistle shopping centre. Vue cinema. Peak sports centre for swimming, ice-skating and indoor climbing wall.
Aberfoyle and Callander: Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and the David Marshall Lodge for walks and the Go Ape experience.
Killin and Tyndrum: View the Falls of Dochart at Killin which are dramatic in full spate, then head up to Tyndrum and visit the Green Welly Shop – great selection of whiskies.
Glasgow: Great shopping. Visit the Kelvin Grove Art Gallery and the Riverside Motor Museum.
Loch Lomond Seaplanes: Get a bird’s eye view of Loch Lomond from the seaplane.
Buchanan Arms Hotel, Drymen: Visit the leisure club for a swim or game of squash.
Isle of Bute : Take the ferry from Wemyss Bay. Visit Mount Stuart House. Then Kilchattan Bay for lunch on the beach. Take the other ferry back to Colintraive and enjoy the scenic drive home.
