Best of Scotland

  • 5 of 5

The Annexe is supremely comfortable and Charles and Araminta's welcome is warm and personal. Their location is great, if you have a car, for visiting historical and scenic sites south of Edinburgh. Of our 3 weeks in Scotland, our week at the Annexe was the best.

Absolutely farulous!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely recommend Araminta and Charles beautiful Annex and its perfect location! The listing is all correct but cannot add the real essence and beauty of the place! Part of the charm is the lovely couple and their sincere hospitality and all the little details that make you feel like you have found a special gem. We toured the Borders and Edinburgh and came "home" at night to a oasis of peace and beauty! Loved it!

Owner's Response: Dear Jill and Bernie, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We loved having you here and so glad you enjoyed seeing some of our country. Having had a pretty wet summer even that turned out for the better while you were with us! Thank you for playing tennis Jill. You were the best!!! Iris is growing by the day and into everything, but a great joy since our last Jack Russell died. You were terrific guests which is why we enjoy having people here from all over the World. Tell your friends and come back again soon!

Fantastic, homely

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and myself stayed at Charles and Araminta's annexe for a weekend. What a fantastic place to stay, beautiful countryside and a homely house to stay in. Charles and Araminta only made our stay even better with their hospitality. Our daughter had a memorable time by being able to ride Araminta's ponies.

We would definitely recommend this place, nothing to fault. Looking forward to returning to it.

Myself and partner and our dog have just stayed here for 3 nights, what a fantasctic time we had, it will always stay in our hearts as during our stay my partner proposed to me. Our hosts Charles and Araminta were wonderful and helped us celebrate our special occassion and made a day which we will never forget. Would definately recommend this annexe to everyone, and we will be staying there again in the future.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Araminta's and Charles' annex for 8 days in August and it was amazing! The cottage is properly equipped with everything you could ask for. Additionally, the lovely garden surrounding the annex really gave the impression of full-relax-holidays. The location is perfectly suited to discover the lower part of Scotland and very well connected to Edinburgh.

Araminta and Charles are very lovely people and great hosts that do not hesitate to give you a helping hand. They made us feel like at home by welcoming us warmly with self-baked bread and all the tiny things for the everyday-life. They shared their fascinating stories with us, which made this holiday unforgettable.

Thank you again for everything, Rosa & Thomas

Wonderful Place to Stay!!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage at the Grange is a great place to spend a few weeks in Scotland! We stayed 4 weeks and could have stayed more had circumstance permitted. Araminta and Charles are the best, giving of their time and energy to ensure a comfortable stay. The cottage itself is very spacious and well equipped, including a wonderful Rayburn stove. The chickens, ducks, goose, and horses add to the ambience that is the Grange property! The walks in the hills are not to be missed, including the Covenanter's Grave, just a few miles from the cottage.

Thank you Araminta for the warm bread, fresh eggs and your winning smile! Thank you Charles for your knowledge of the area, and your gift of story telling! Thank you both for a wonderful stay.
