Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms with country view, 2 Bathrooms, a large veranda And Garden.

Sa Mariola is an old vineyard house that was constructed in the second half of the 19th century and completely renovated in 2013. Once at the centre of the grape harvest, it is now a peaceful oasis in the heart of the Sardinian countryside. Surrounded by vineyards, oak, holly oak and wild cherry trees, Sa Mariola is the ideal location for spending a relaxing vacation with family or friends. Welcoming and spacious, the house can host up to five people and is equipped with all mod cons. The veranda and surrounding garden enable you to make the most of the house with al fresco lunches and dinners among the fragrant flowers.

The house has two floors. The ground floor consists of an open kitchen that faces the living room, and a small bathroom. The master bathroom with bathtub is located on the first floor, as are the three bedrooms - a double room, a twin room and a single room to which a crib can be added if requested. The house also boasts a veranda with porch, designed for al fresco eating, with a view of the garden and the stunning rose bed.

The huge garden surrounding Sa Mariola is dotted with trees that are typical of Mediterranean shrubland. The imposing oaks and holly oaks are joined by cherry, apricot, plum, peach, fig, pomegranate and a century old walnut tree. And it is thanks to the generosity of the fruit orchard that Sa Mariola is able to produce its own jams, a sweet welcome for our guests, together with our organic wine.

Located in the heart of Alta Gallura, Sa Mariola is perfectly positioned for discovering the northern coast of Sardinia. In less than an hour’s drive you can reach some of the best known beaches or, if you enjoy quiet and silence, a constellation of small coves of unique beauty. Starting from the North there is Isola Rossa, where the blue sea is even more striking thanks to the colour of the cliffs from which it takes its name; Vignola, with its 17th century watchtower that sits between the sea and the sky, and then Capo Testa and Santa Teresa, where you can take the ferry to Corsica. Moving east you come to Porto Pollo, the surfer’s paradise with its soft sand dunes, and the nearby Palau, protected by its granite bear and point of departure for the enchanting archipelago of Maddalena. Other little islands dot one of the most famous stretches of coast in the world as far as Olbia and the majestic island of Tavolara.

The Sa Mariola house can be rented for a minimum of one week (7 nights). The house has central heating and a wood fire, making it comfortable for winter stays.

Bedlinen and towels will be provided on your arrival and a slow speed wi-fi connection is also available.

Pets are welcome.

About Gusi Meloni

I was born and raised in Luras and go back as often as I can, dividing my time between Milan and my work as a trainer and my other occupation as a farming entrepreneur.

Why Gusi Meloni chose Luras

Sa Mariola forms part of a project to conserve my family’s legacy: I inherited this land from my great grandfather and my father, who still guides me with his profound knowledge and respect for nature.

At Sa Mariola I want to offer you the opportunity to discover a lesser-known Sardinia and to envelop yourself in the colours and fragrances of a time-honoured land, discovering the rhythms, silences and gifts of a natural setting made even friendlier by the comforts that the house and the surrounding area can offer.

What makes this cottage unique

I love to sit on any of the stone benches around the house. You can fell the stone warmed by the sun, smell the lavender and the roses and listening to the gentle sounds of nature all around you.

September in Sa Mariola Sardinia

  • 4 of 5

We found the property homely comfortable and conveniently situated to reach both coastline and interior countryside with beaches accessible within an hour. The surrounding scenery is fascinating and despite being very dry on the ground had plenty of lush woodland. The recommended restaurants and places to visit were all very useful. There was access to pears figs leftover grapes in the vineyard and plentiful walnuts. There were three of us staying and an oven would be useful if more visitors but kitchen well equipped otherwise. Supermarkets easily accessible for supplies , bread cakes and biscuits available in the village. Giusi was most helpful to us and always at the end of a phone or on email if any queries. We would recommend this delightful spot. If you dont like dogs be warned there are a lot of very noisy (at certain times of day and in the evenings) dogs at various properties in the neighbourhood.

Danke.

Sa Mariola is situated in Campos, on a two-hectare farm that includes a wood of oak and holly oak trees. Located close to this haven of silence and tranquillity is Luras, a little village of 2000 inhabitants that is just a short walk or a few minutes’ drive away. Located at an altitude of 500 metres a.s.l., Luras is a little village of around 2500 inhabitants. Known for its “Nebiolo di Luras” wine, the village keeps its traditions alive with various festivals and cultural events. In the rooms of the “Galluras” ethnographical museum you can retrace 500 years of history thanks to over 5000 artefacts that reconstruct the life of a typical house in this area of Sardinia. A visit to the Forteleoni Collection will lift the lid on the secrets of cork through the remarkable artistic legacy of Tonino Forteleoni. Finally, the Tamponi-Perantoni building is the venue for an absorbing exhibition on fashion in Luras at the turn of the 20th century. Coming back to the present, in Luras you can find facilities such as a bank, a post office, a pharmacy, a baker’s and grocery stores. For all other needs, the town of Tempio is 10 km away.

Located in the heart of Alta Gallura, Sa Mariola is also perfectly positioned for discovering the northern coast of Sardinia.
