About the property

Stunning views, 2 beds and 2 bath, 2 min drive to beach, golf and restaurants

Situated in the urbanisation of Los Lagos de Santa Maria Golf in Elviria, Marbella. This fabulous apartment is new to the rental market in 2017. A video can be viewed at the end of the photo gallery. The development was named the Best Spanish Development in 2004 by Home Overseas. With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms the property is complimented with a bright, Mediterranean themed lounge leading to a 22 m2 sun deck. This Scottish family owned apartment was redecorated in 2016 to the highest standards with fresh white and blue walls and cream marble floors throughout. Guests have the use of a Samsung 40" Curved UHD TV along with UK and International channels including Sports, Blue Ray DVD Player, Free Wi Fi is also included. TV Channels are streamed through the wifi box. There is an internal dining table seating four. No heels should be worn in the apartment due to the noise on marble floors (community regulation). The air-conditioning system is very easy to use and can either cool or heat all the rooms throughout the apartment as required. In the Summer setting the temp at 5 degrees below the outside temperature is the best setting for a cool but not chilled environment.

A new wooden deck was added to the property in 2016. Timber decking is a relatively new ‘lifestyle’ concept for apartments in Spain and is an excellent way of extending the living space of the apartment. Also installed is an electric awning which is put to great use particularly during the heat of the Summer. Guest benefit as the sun deck moves into shade from around 6.30pm. During the Summer nights it's ideal to be in the shade in the evening. The views from the balcony are simple breathtaking, looking North you will see the Mountains and magnificent hilltop retreat of La Mairena. Looking South you will see the Straits of Gibraltar, Cueta and the North African coastline. When the weather gets hot the apartment has two awnings, one electric, both will give shade and let you enjoy the weather out of the direct sun.

The apartment has it's own car parking space at the entrance to the under ground car park and is on the second floor accessible by an elevator and stairwell.

There is a safe in the main bedroom and you will be given a key on arrival. The total floor area of the apartment is 111m3 Extra cleaning/laundry is also available on request.

Swimming Pool

There is a lovely large communal swimming pool opposite the apartment. There is also a smaller children's pool and changing rooms / toilets. There is a section of sun beds around the pool area. There are an additional 3 pools located within the development.

The grassed area enjoys terrific views of the sparkling Mediterranean. On arrival at the main pool the lifeguard will take note of your apartment number, this is for security and it keeps the pool area free for owners and their guests.

Dora from our management company will meet you on arrival and show you the apartment. Dora is very friendly and helpful and is always on hand to make your stay both comfortable and enjoyable. On cross over days we would require the apartment vacated by 11am with an access of 4pm. This is to allow cleaning and linen change. We will do our best to be flexible on these times whenever possible. If you require a car (recommended) we have an arrangement in place that you will be collected and dropped at the airport by Mario who runs a car rental business from Los Lagos. His prices are good and the service is first class. Please ask for details.

The nearest beach

The La Romana beach, located 5 minutes from the apartment is one of the best in the Marbella area. There are several Chiringuito's ( Bar/Restaurants) located alongside the beach which are lovely and reasonable priced. There is plenty of free parking near to the beach.

A famous course with many celebrity events, it's a must if you are a serious golfer. Apart from the golf the breathtaking views from several of the tees are superb. Experienced players seeking good scores will experience a challenging game throughout.

Water Sports

Sun & Surf are located at Los Lagos and Peter runs a water sports school during the Summer months. There is also a waterpark for the youngsters a 20 minute drive away.

TOP ATTRACTIONS FOR KIDS IN MARBELLA

In the warm season from approximately June to September you can take the kids to a water park such as Aqualand in Torremolinos or Bahia aquapark in Algeciras. If you prefer to stay dry, then you can always take the kids to Selwo Aventura animal park in Estepona or Tivoli World in Benalmadena. If you really like roller coasters and fun rides, then you may want to even venture further out to Seville to Isla Magica, which is the largest attraction park in Andalucia.

If these ideas are all a bit too much to cram into one day, then you may want to take it easy by spending a half day with the kids playing mini golf in Fuengirola at the Fuengirola Adventure Golf center or take a stroll through the Fuengirola zoo, also known as Biopark Fuengirola. Smaller children also love looking at the fish at the Sea Life aquarium at Benalmadena port.

For those of you who like to stick a bit closer to Marbella, then your kids will love a day out at Funny Beach where you can go-kart, jump on trampolines, enjoy bumper boats, and play arcade games. During the summer months, stay for lunch at Koko Beach restaurant located right on the premises and continue the day on jet skis and banana boats in the sea. Or you can bring along some bread and feed the fish at Puerto Banus where you can also people watch, gaze at the yachts, shop, or see a movie at the Gran Cinema Marbella.

Local Night Life

Los Lagos de Santa Maria can be relaxing and chilled but we are fortunate that there are two thriving commercial centers only a 25 minutes away. We normally walk down and get a taxi back (e 6-7) There is a taxi rank in one of the centers. Many visitors from other areas travel to Elviria as the commercial centers are busy during the Summer months. Here you will find Italian, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Japanese. Korean and a Dutch restaurant along with a couple of Irish Bars and a Sports Bar. There are also a couple of trendy bars to hang out. There are several other bars and cafes where you can relax and watch the world go by. The Playwright is an Irish Restaurant that serves lovely food and has a bar with nightly entertainment. A great night if you want to eat and boogie!

There are many, many other places in Marbella and Puerto Banus for nightlife, each only a 10 and 20 minute drive from the apartment.

Other Sightseeing Places

If you like to see more of the real Spain then a 25 minute drive will take you to the mountain villages of Ojen http://www.andalucia.com/province/malaga/ojen/home.htm and Monda http://www.andalucia.com/province/malaga/monda/home.htm Well worth a visit.

If you want to go higher and further into the mountains then try Benhavis 35 minutes http://www.andalucia.com/province/malaga/benahavis/home.htm or Ronda 85 minutes http://www.andalucia.com/ronda/home.htm Both these destinations are lovely particularly the mountain top city of Ronda, the views are spectacular.

A 15 minute drive West along the coast will take you to La Cala de Mijas a thriving little town. Then head North for a 15 minute drive into the mountains to discover Mijas a traditional white Spanish town, still steeped in the old Andalucian traditions and customs. There are lots of lovely cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy.

I am a Professional Wedding Photographer and Aileen my wife helps run the family business with video filming and editing. We recently had our boys joining us at the apartment and we had a great family holiday. In 2009 we rented long term but in 2015 we decided to take the apartment back, refurbish it and used it for a year before offering it on short term rentals. We purchased our apartment off plan at Los Lagos de Santa Maria Golf in 2002 and completed the contract in 2006. We bought here because it ticked so many of our boxes. On the East of Marbella and only 30 minutes from Malaga airport, on a fantastic golf course, near the beach and jaw dropping views to Gibraltar and North Africa. Since purchasing, many nice restaurants and bars have opened up in the area and we have met lots of lovely people.

What makes this apartment unique

An unique benefit of this apartment are the fabulous views. Sitting in the evening with a glass of wine and looking out across the Mediterranean to the Straights of Gibraltar, and the African Continent are only one of the reasons we bought this apartment. Have breakfast just after 8am on the sun deck and watch the sun rise from the East over the Elviria hills, in the evening look West and view the twinkling Mediterranean Sea, with yachts and ships on the horizon. All with the backdrop of North Africa and the Gibraltar Rock. There are few apartments at Los Lagos that share these fabulous views from the one balcony and it's a lovely start or end to the day.

Wonderful holiday place

Just returned from our holidays and would recommend this apartment and area. The apartment was excellently furnished and very comfortable, it was like home from home with everything you need and more. The complex was also very nice and a short walk down stairs to get to the large pool, which was kept clean and plenty of space and sun beds. The local village had plenty of resturants and grocery stories. The local beaches are only a short distance away and very lovely. A car is recommended. If we return to this area again this apartment would be the first choice on our list. The owners were excellent to deal with and very prompt with all communication and very helpful. Thank you for letting us share your gorgeous accommodation.

The apartment was excellently furnished and very comfortable, it was like home from home with everything you need and more. Fabulous apartment

Have just returned home from a super 5 day stay in this gorgeous, very well appointed apartment with stunning views of the med, Gibralta and even the Atlas mountains from the large and very comfortable sun deck. In addition we received excellent service in terms of transportation and apartment care from the owners and their support staff. We used the super large infinity pool which can be seen from the sun deck and is just one of several pools on the development - all are quiet and relaxing. Cannot wait to return!

Superfijn, compleet en zeer comfortabel appartement

We hebben een superfijn verblijf gehad in het appartement van Graham en Aileen! Mooi en compleet ingericht, schoon en heel comfortabel. Het appartement is ruim en voorzien van 2 tweepersoons slaapkamers, 2 badkamers en een mooi groot balkon op het zuiden. De keuken is van alle gemakken voorzien, zelfs van een wasmachine en droger! Voor onze zoon was het supersnelle glasvezel internet zeer belangrijk :-) Al met al een aanrader!

We had a super nice stay in the apartment of Graham and Aileen! Beautifully and completely furnished, clean and very comfortable. The apartment is spacious and contains 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a nice big balcony on the south. The kitchen is fully equipped, even with a washer and dryer! For our son the superfast fiber optic internet connection was very important :-) Highly recommended!

Elviria is well positioned to explore either along the coastal regions or inland into the Sierra de la Nieves. Ronda is a lovely place to visit, just over an hours drive takes you to this delightful mountaintop city set dramatically above a deep gorge. This gorge (El Tajo) separates the city’s circa-15th-century new town from its old town, dating to Moorish rule. Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge spanning the gorge, has a lookout offering views. New town’s Plaza de Toros, a legendary 18th-century bullring, is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Other areas to visit are Monda approx 35 minutes away where you will find Castillo de Monda, once a castle it's now an intimate boutique hotel. The views are stunning. Breakfast at Ojen, just 25 minutes away is another little gem. Set in the small town square it's authentic Spain. If your're into water sports then our management company also run Sun & Surf a water sports business. Other places to try are the neighbouring urbanisation of Cabopino, with its charming port and beaches i'ts just five minutes drive and is also home to Cabopino Golf and a further five minutes, direction Fuengirola, you come to the very British area of Calahonda, with its host of facilities to shop and dine.

To the West you will find the beautiful town of Marbella, just 10 minutes drive away, wander around the charming Old Town of Marbella and enjoy a drink in the Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Square), the town has superb dining choices. Glitzy Puerto Banús with its luxury yachts and stylish boutiques is just past Marbella. The large shopping centre of La Cañada is situated just outside of Marbella and offers over 200 stores, including a Marks and Spencer and Habitat!

To the east of Elviria, is the old coastal town of Fuengirola, which in recent years has become a hub for foreign visitors and residents. Fuengirola is a diverse town, which suits many tastes. There is a large foreign occupation in the town, evident in the diversity of its shops and restaurants. However, dig deeper and you find what is essentially an old Spanish coastal town, with some excellent tapas bars and delightful Spanish traditional restaurants.

Beach's Elviria like most of the urbanisations that run along the coastal road is divided into two – beachside and mountainside. Golden sandy beaches stretch right the way from Fuengirola to Marbella and beyond and Elviria is no exception. There are some great facilities on the beach, including dining and water sports.

The famous Nikki Beach Club is located on the beach by the Don Carlos hotel and is for those who wish to sunbathe in style, accompanied with DJs and day and night partying. Although a small urbanisation, Elviria has two commercial centers, El Pino and Elviria. They are packed with restaurants and bars, including tapas and Spanish ‘menu del día’ options, pizza, Chinese and British options, as well as some first class dining venues, including El Lago Restaurant, The Playwright for eating and dancing, Nikki Beach and Da Bruno’s Italian in nearby Cabopino.

Imagine, a beautiful beachfront promenade, stretching across the majority of the Costa del Sol, with no roads, no impassable stretches, no rivers in the way. This is the stated aim of the coastal path project that aims to unite promenades being built in Marbella, Estepona and Mijas.

Along with the Grand Senda de Malaga and the re-opening of the Caminito del Rey, this walkway is one of the largest and most awaited tourist projects being carried out this year.

From Mijas to Manilva, three of the Costa del Sol’s largest municipalities are working on their own section of the path, with the final aim of all 3 of them being united in a 50km long path hugging the coastline of the Costa del Sol.

The walkways have been constructed using environmentally friendly materials and have been designed to blend into the varying landscapes along the route. Constructed mainly of wooden walkways or compacted sand, the walkway has had to overcome cliffs, natural sand dunes, river mouths as well as private homes and gardens.

Marbella’s walkway is the most advanced of the 3, the initial stretch was to complete the path from Marbella to San Pedro de Alcántara, and involved the construction of a wonderfully designed wooden bridge over the Rio Verde in Puerto Banús as well as a wooden walkway over the rocky coastline in front of Ventura del Mar. Work is ongoing to extend the path in between La Bajadilla Marina and Rio Real, with the path currently being carefully built through the protected natural Las Adelfas Dunes.
