Bungalow in St Merryn, Padstow, Cornwall, England - quiet cul de sac location, close to St Merryn village centre
About Samantha Milner
We live in Bristol with our two school age children, cocker spaniel and labradoodle, but try to visit Cornwall as often as we can.
Samantha Milner purchased this Bungalow in 2014
Why Samantha Milner chose Saint Merryn
We have visited this part of the north coast of Cornwall for almost 15 years, usually more than once a year. We love the variety of activities in the area (water sports, cycling, walking, visiting Padstow for an ice cream...). The cross roads at the centre of the village of St Merryn contains a surprisingly large range of facilities (corner shops, deli, a variety of restaurants and take aways, two pubs, surf shop, petrol station). The quality of the beaches nearby is fantastic (the area is known as '7 bays for 7 days'). Each of them has their own characteristics, catering for different interests, and age ranges. We particularly like coming here out of season, and of course our dogs love it whatever the time of year and whichever beach we go to
What makes this Bungalow unique
We have stayed in many of the available rental properties in St Merryn, and have tried to create a property which takes the best of what we have seen in the holiday homes we have previously rented: open plan kitchen/dining area, which leads into the garden; a separate lounge with wood burner for the cooler nights; three comfortable bedrooms, and a separate utility area/wet room to shower off surfers, their wet suits (and their dog...). Our local caretaker ensures that all maintenance issues are dealt with promptly, including the annual gas and electrical safety checks. The bungalow is in a quiet cul de sac, but is only a short level walk to the centre of the village and a short drive to numerous beaches and the towns of Padstow/Newquay/Wadebridge

Beautifully furnished maintained to a very high standard
Breakfast Kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything you would want and great to sit in with the bi fold doors open. Very comfy beds, useful shower in the garage to wash our dog. Perfect location for fantastic beaches and walks. It was the best property we have stopped in after many years of visiting this area, it had everything we would want.
First class bungalow.
We have stayed here several times before and can't fault the accomodation and location. Would give double the star ratings if I could. The bungalow is spotless, comfortable and truly home from home. Lovely enclosed garden and easy access to all areas of Cornwall.
Lovely place to stay
It’s our third time we have stayed in this property and we like the location for all sorts of reasons.
Wonderful cottage great location
Had a great holiday the property is spacious excellent standard and near two good pubs
My husband and I plus our teenage daughter and two dogs stayed at Springtide 6th-13th April. This is a wonderful house very clean and tidy in a great location. The house is much bigger than you think and has everything you would need for a comfortable stay plus a large enclosed garden. St Merryn is a quiet village but has everything. A local store pubs restaurants all worth a visit and all within walking distance of the house. The beaches are close by too. The house is the perfect base to explore the delights of Cornwall. We would highly recommend this holiday home and will be returning again ourselves in the future.

St Merryn village centre
We are a few minutes walk from the 'crossroads', where you will find a petrol station, a grocery store, several restaurants and takeaways, a bakery, the Farmers' Arms pub and a surf shop. The Cornish Arms (owned by Rick Stein) is a short walk in the opposite direction
Padstow is about 10 minutes drive away, with a Tesco and a variety of shops, restaurants and of course the harbour area. We like to take the ferry across to Rock and walk on the beaches there
Wadebridge, Newquay (nearest airport) and Bodmin (nearest train station) are close by
The nearest beach is Harlyn Bay, a wonderful stretch of sand and home to the local surf school just over a mile away. Constantine Bay and Treyarnon are also close by with some fantastic walks, both coastal and inland. One of our favourite beaches is Tregirls/Hawkers Cove, just north of Padstow. Being within the Camel estuary, the waves are typically smaller and so it is particularly suited to families with smaller children (but there are no facilities!). We (and the dogs) also like to walk the coastal path which is an easy way to take in some spectacular views
