3500 Square Foot Fully Renovated With 4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms

Sandy Lane Farm is a beautifully appointed historical property nestled in the privacy of 35 acres, and was previously run as a wedding venue.

The majority of the house (save for the kitchen) has soaring 12 foot ceilings with historic crown mouldings.

It features a gourmet kitchen with table that seats 12, along with a parlour with punched tin celings and a wood stove, a separate TV room. The farm has wrap around porches in both the front and the back of the house, with gorgeous views to the barn and fields, and a screened in porch off the kitchen for eating, games, or just relaxing. There are many beautiful places to rest and read books and beautiful gardens throughout.

It features a second floor where there are three bedrooms. The Lanktree room features an exposed brick wall and a Queen bed. The Willow Room looks over the willow tree with a Queen bed and ensuite bathroom with shower and claw foot tub. The Strawberry Patch has views over the fields with two single beds.

The third floor features a magnificent private master suite of 600 square feet, with a king bed, fireplace, balcony overlooking the front gardens and adjoining ensuite bathroom

About Stephen and Heather Hunter

We fell in love with Southampton and this property in 2001, and took 4 years to lovingly restore this house, (and its barn) which was the first farmhouse in Southampton, to its original glory. We were awarded a historical plaque from the town which we proudly display on the front of the house.

Why Stephen and Heather Hunter chose Saugeen Shores

Southampton offers the traveler so many choices of things to do: there are 16 tennis courts in town, three golf courses within a five minute drive, and Lake Hurons gorgeous beaches. There are fabulous biking trails throughout the community and along Lake Huron. Denny's damn conservation area is a short walk down the hill from the property and is one of the most famous fishing places in Southern Ontario. Kayaking and canoeing is very popular on the Saugeen River. You might want to contact Thorncrest Outfitters, our neighbours down the hill, who specialize in excursions, and you need only walk down the hill to climb in a canoe or kayak! Southampton is famous for sunsets, and many gather at the flagpole in town each night to watch the sun set into Lake Huron. There is an active art community in Southampton with an art gallery and school. You are also 10 minutes from Sauble Beach, one of the longest and best beaches in Canada

You are also 5 minutes from Port Elgin, Southamptons sister city.

The farmhouse will make you feel like you are going back in time, as the original elements of the home have been restored. The farm and property had everything that we wanted; proximity to town but with the ultimate in privacy. The property is a haven for wildlife, and you will see deer, wild turkeys and birds on a regular basis

A peaceful retreat, minutes from everything...

We had an incredible week at this beautiful property. Heather and Stephen are wonderful hosts! They provided everything we needed...sheets, towels, pots & pans, dishes, tissues & toilet paper, dish soap & laundry detergent, etc. The kids loved playing the piano in the parlor and learning what a record player is! We had so much space to relax, both inside and out. The screened porch was a favorite spot with our group. We just left the house this morning and the kids are already begging to go back next year! Stephen and Heather, thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us!

Heather and Stephen were always very quick at responding to any questions we had. The house had more than enough room for our family of 8, including a fully stocked kitchen that had everything we needed for cooking all week for such a large group. The large property gave us lots of privacy but yet was still minutes away from town and beaches.

Tranquil bliss on a beautiful, large plot of land!

Heather & Stephen are wonderful people and very responsive and pleasant to deal with. My wife and I had a great time at their beautiful property on a magnificent, large plot. It was extremely quiet without nearby neighbours or busy roads; but is still very close and convenient (~4 minute drive) to the local town which has spectacular beaches, great shops and good restaurants.

The property and house are very well-kept and have lots of wonderful character and charm. Plenty of amenities!

We would wake up in the mornings in our king bed to bird songs, and in the evenings we would spot deer in the field (wine in hand) with background sounds of the nearby river.

If you need a peaceful retreat from the city but still want somewhere that's conveniently located close to town, this is the spot! You really get the best of both worlds - serenity on the property, with plenty to see and do nearby.

As much as I'd like to keep this property a secret, I must highly recommend it.
